What is wrong with financial advice today?

I am thinking about writing a column on money...but there are plenty of sources of information out there now.

What don't you like about the way money advice is given and what would you like to see to make it better?

Thanks a bunch -- hopefully your advice will help me help people do better with their finances....and perhaps make them (and their spouses or partners) happy too. What is wrong with financial advice today?
Yea, that is a good question. Most ';brokers'; today want you to invest in products in ';their'; best interest. That's why its good to go to a financial advisor or planner when making investing decisions. They have nothing to sell. A broker on the other hand has everything to sell, especially things that will get him or her a fat commission. What is wrong with financial advice today?
Incredible question!

Investment advice from most investment professionals is biased.

Investment advice from most non professionals is inaccurate.

The poor investor is the victim in either case.

You must find a professional who is both knowledgeable and unbiased. GOOD LUCK!

Your best bet is to find a seasoned professional (20 years or more in the business) who works for a fee and not a commission.
