Need some advice and opinions on which phone to get?

I am debating which cell phone I should get. The choices I have narrowed it down to are the

Black Motorola Razr V3-Free

-Heard this phone isn't great, and it's best feature is the look

Sony Ericsson W300i-Free

-Heard the biggest problem here are the buttons but overall good

Samsung Blackjack-Refurbished-$70

-Heard the battery-life sucks on this one, and the buttons are cramped.

Samsung SGH-A727-$100-Heard its ok, but the keypad is slippery and cant hear well.

Moto Razr V3xx-$100-Heard it's better than v3, but still is bad esp. for Cingular

Anyone else want to give their 411 on these phones?

Anyone have any of these phones, and which one do you think is a good offer and is a good phone. Any personal exp. would be great, or what you heard. Or other suggestions about some phones would be great. Blackjack is refurbished from where I am buying it. So what do you guys think? ! Thanks.Need some advice and opinions on which phone to get?

Mothers of preemies: What are your best words of advice?

I just gave birth to twin boys, Graham and Elliot, and they were two and a half months premature. Doctors say they will be just fine in due time; what advice can you give? It could be anything - anything will be helpful!Mothers of preemies: What are your best words of advice?
be vigilant. talk to them, touch them, be there, hold them as much as you are allowed. good luck! everything will be ok!Mothers of preemies: What are your best words of advice?
Be prepared and enjoy every minute of it.

I guess they're in SKBU (NICU if you're in the US) so you've still got plenty of time to prepare for them at home, you're going to need it, twins is a lot to handle, especially if you're a first time mum, be prepared is the advice I give to any first time mum that asks me.

I had a preemie, and I'm a teenage mum, she was born with a hole in her heart and doctors didn't expect her to survive, whilst I was prepared for the worst, you definitely need to be prepared for them to come home. As preemies, they may need some extra help along the way that a full term baby wouldn't need, but they might not.

They may be in SKBU but they're still growing and you'll still hit milestones while they're there, take LOADS of photos, document everything, and enjoy it while it lasts.

Pump if you can, and take the time to recover from your delivery. Take pictures and bring a magazine when you are at the nicu. Watching the monitors was stressful for me. Ask the doctors lots of questions, and get to know the nurses as they are the ones who will protect your little ones while you are away. I always felt comfortable that Victoria was in safe loving hands. (One nurse in particular was quite taken with Victoria and my husband, and she would rock Victoria so Victoria was never lonely.) Also, employ your family to do some shifts so you can spend some time with your partner, as they are stressed out too. My husband and I went to one last dinner before Victoria came home. I can count how many times Chris and I have gone some place alone in 2 years on one hand.
My baby girl was only a month early, but we dealt with some of the preemie issues. I hope you are breastfeeding...I think that was the main reason my little girl is doing so well. If they are in the NICU, pump as much as you can. You will definitely have a lot of milk, since preemies eat every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. My little girl ate every 2 hours...the doctor told me not to let her go longer than 2 hours until she was past her due date and had gained enough weight. Your boys will probably sleep a lot...my little girl was hard to keep awake to eat. You will have to keep them awake by tickling them or rubbing their cheek while they are nursing, because they will try to fall asleep and not get a full feeding. I remember having to strip my baby down and wipe her down with a washcloth just to get a full feeding into her. The doctor told me that if I didn't get a full feeding in her, she would just become disinterested in eating more and more.

Don't stress over the baby milestones...your babies will most likely be at least 2 months behind the ';average'; milestones. Give them lots of love!

My little girl is now 6 months old, and still wearing 0-3 month clothing...a few 3-6 month stuff mixed in, but she is now developmentally on target. She just started sitting up on her own!
Although my son was premature- he was not born as early as your twins. My son was born 6 weeks early at 4lbs 4.5oz. I kind of just went into labor for no reason. Luckily, my son's lungs and heart and everything were completely mature and I got to take him home after 4 days of being in the hospital. My advice is to just hold them and touch them as much as possible. I know many people, including a lot of my family were sooo scared to hold my son because of his size but dont be afraid to! They need that touch! You could also pump your breastmilk and have the nurses give that to them so this way you can feel closer to them like you are the one making them grow healthy and strong. It is a long hard road. My son was so weak when he was born, those long nights were rough! But he is now 5 1/2 months and just weighed in at 12lbs 7oz on Friday so he is getting up there! Before you know it they will be crawling around and you will be chasing them!
im glad that they will be fine. im due with twin boys in early march. my niece was born at 27wks and she only weighed 1lb3oz. she is now a very smart 5yr old. i know you will be spending alot of time at the hospital and hopefuly they will come home soon. if you ever want to talk, feel free to email me. im a good listener.
As a Mom of a now 13 year old, born 9 weeks early; they are not kidding when they say you should sleep now.

Grab sleep whenever you can.

Sleep, sleep, sleep.

Your boys are in good hands at the hospital
just be patient and pray. and enjoy ur sleep and freetime i just had twins 6 weeks ago and trust me once ur little boys come home everything will change lol

  • Can you give me some good advice on passing a driving test?

I feel REALLY embarassed for asking this cause I am 23 and I just learned how to drive last year or so. I failed the behind the wheel all three times, the last time wasn't so bad...I just got a bit too close to a double parked car while I was trying to signal and go around it. And now I have put it off for a year because I guess I am not a real confident person in driving. I just fear I do not have the skills so I just gave up on it. Do you think it is bad if a person does not drive at all? People keep saying to me, ';When are you going to drive?/When are you going to get a car?'; So much pressure! I never got the opportunity to learn how to drive when I was younger...maybe that would have helped? I don't know. My teacher thinks I am good when I am not taking the test...but when I see the strict DMV person.. I just freeze and my heart starts pounding like crazy. I am intimidated by them because I have been told they are really mean so maybe that is the reason why I keep freaking out.Can you give me some good advice on passing a driving test?
    Just put it into perspective.

If you want to be able to leave the DMV with a license, then you WILL pass the test. If you are not ready to become a full-time driver, you will not.

Once you are completely ready to put your foot in the door/ bite the bullet/ face your fears/ whatever you'd like to call it, you will do anything you can to get that card. You will practice as much as you can. You will show your instructor you mean business. And, one day, you will pass. I failed two times too. It is not that hard as long as no unusual circumstances pop up. Just remember, if they say you are not ready, then maybe you need more practice. I can't believe how many times I come to an unfamiliar intersection and am completely confused about what to do and I have been driving for almost 20 years. Getting onto a highway from a ramp can be abrupt. People refuse to follow the rules on the road and you have to be 110% ready to gauge their next move or dodge out of the way of a hazardous situation...either by slowing down or by avoiding it. The road is not always a pleasant place!

Hopefully, you have a mother (or someone else you drive with often) who is an excellent driver, like mine, so you have a good example to follow. Can you give me some good advice on passing a driving test?
Dont go back until you are ready. You do not want to be nervous and have an accident. When you are ready, realize the only bad thing that will happen is that you will not get the license. It is not the end of the world. I applaud you for trying and trying again. Don't let pressure get to you. Get some practice in with someone that has patience with you. Go out during a not so busy time of the day.

    Good Luck and Stay Safe
    practice and study.
I failed my frist driving test too, I was 19 and getting ready to start college. Relex, and do excately what they tell you, and dont touch your face or take your hands off the wheel, unless told to use a hand signal. You will do fine, please try again.
    Study !
Just keep practicing. It took me 3 tries to get my license but it was because of stupid drivers that screwed me over and the fact that I was nervous. Go driving with someone that you trust and just keep on doing it until you know that you are 110% sure. I feel your pain but in the end it's all worth it.

I am moving to country, any advice on how to train my dog not to run away without a fence?

My dog has been a suburban dog, fenced yard, walks on leash. Moving to house with over 20 acres, closest major road is over 1 mile. Would like to let him roam but concerned he may get lost. Any advice on transitioning him to area?I am moving to country, any advice on how to train my dog not to run away without a fence?
    Wow...This is a toughy..

My dog is also a suburban dog, fenced yard, walks on a leash...

My bf is a farmer, he has about 900 acres...I spend the night there once or twice a week and, ofcourse, I take my dog with me..

My bf doesn't allow dogs in his house so Angus stays outside with my bf's 4 dogs...I haven't lost him yet, but there has been trouble..

My bf got his newest dog from a lady that kept the poor dog in a garage for 2 years...One night, shortly after he got her, I spent the night there and a goat ended up getting out of her pen and the dogs killed it...I'm sure that my dog had something to do with it but I can't be absultely certain...I was devistated..He loves to chase things and in the heat of ';pack mentality'; I'm almost certain that he was in on it..

I don't worry about him running off while he's there because he suffers a bit from seperation anxiety and I know he wouldn't want to get too far from me, but I do worry about the other..

The fact that he gets to run free though makes me feel really happy for him.. :-)

The absolute worse thing in the world that you can do to a dog is put him on a chain...Please don't even entertain that thought...

I have a feeling that your dog is going to be just fine in the country...Zillions of dogs are in the country and stay put..Give it a try...And please just try not to worry so much.. :-)

I'd like to add...Get your dog microchipped if you haven't already...That will help to ease your mind that if he does wander too far, he'll eventually be found...And make sure he always wears his collar and tags with your contactphone numbers and your vet...This will also put you more at ease and make him safer.. :-)I am moving to country, any advice on how to train my dog not to run away without a fence?
That all depends on the dog. I would never let my dogs roam unless I was right there watching them. You need to teach your dogs to have a great recall command. Even so, that will only work if you're there to put it into effect. I suggest you still get a fence of some sort.
And you aren't putting up a fence BECAUSE? You must not care for your dog much if you plan on letting him roam the countryside. People in the country have livestock and will shoot a stray dog. PUT UP A FENCE! I too live in the country and would NEVER allow my dogs to roam the area.
first thing is you have to watch him n tell him his limits show him he can not go to far do this for a week n maybe your dog will get it if not buy an electric dog fence

Does anyone with twins have any advice for me?

I am 21 1/2 weeks pregnant and just found out I am with twins. I already have a 31/2 yr old boy and a 18 month old girl. Does anyone out there have any advice for me? What do I have to do now bein pregnant with twins that i didn't have to with just one? Does that make sense? Thanks for helping!Does anyone with twins have any advice for me?
Well, you're a bit ahead of the game, if you ask me. You have the experience and I think this makes having twins relatively easier. I had a two year old when my twins were born.

As far as pregnancy goes, there is an elevated risk of pre-term labor. You should speak to your doctor about this if you haven鈥榯 already. Just be sure to listen to your body, go with your instincts, and don鈥榯 hesitate to call your doctor if something doesn鈥榯 feel right.

I think the biggest adjustment when dealing with newborn twins is the time it will take to care for them. Everything is doubled, diaper changing, feeding, bathing, etc. I felt much more sleep deprived in the early months with twins than with my singleton. Breastfeeding was more challenging, but doable. Routine was extremely important as far as nap and feeding times. You will likely find the need to be more organized and on a schedule with twins than with your singles.

Hope this helps. Congrats and good luck!

I have multiple questions about fantasy football like what I should do i need advice?

    1. What do you think of Pierre Garcon. Sleeper? Worth having on roster?

    2. I have three running backs and i can pick two to start- Ryan Grant @ Min; Ray Rice @ NE; Glenn Coffee @ Stl. Which two should i start?

    3. I know this may sound like a crazy question, but who should I start at quarterback, Drew Brees @ NYJ or Matt Shaub @ Oak?

    4. Do you think that Larry Fitz will step it up?

Thank you in advance.I have multiple questions about fantasy football like what I should do i need advice?
1.) Pierre Garcon is worth having in most leagues unless you have like 8 or less teams. He will be a decent WR, not outstanding numbers but above average.

2.) I would start Ryan Grant, and Glenn Coffee

    3.) Matt Schaub

4.) Yes, he is outstanding, he is just off to a slow start.

  • Have you ever gotten really good advice from your kids?

You've heard me say Puddles are for Jumping. No kidding I first heard that from my son when he was 2. I changed my whole way of thinking after that. What's yours?Have you ever gotten really good advice from your kids?
    I was with my 7 year old and we were walking home from my moms and we passed some pretty flowers and Madison asked if we could stop and smell them. I said ';We're in a hurry honey, we'll come back by tomarrow'; and she innocently said ';But mommy, they might be gone tomarrow';

We stopped and smelled them and I took that saying to heart : )Have you ever gotten really good advice from your kids?
my 18 month old, after tripping and falling in the living room, rolled completely flat on the floor with her arms spread and her legs spread completely dramatic and said ';gosh';. and just started laughing, got up and walked away.

laugh at your own mistakes... then get back on your feet and go...
Yes. When my oldest was in preschool, they were learning about saving the planet. She came home and asked what type of cleaning supplies do we use. I told her and she looked at me and said ';Mommy, why are you killing our planet?'; That was 6 years ago and I've been green ever since.
    I usually say please and thank you when asking my son to do something, however when I get in rush I forget sometimes. He will always call me on it to, he will say ';You know a please and thank wouldn't hurt now and then.';
My niece's school was telling them about cigarrettes and stuff like that (she is in the 1st grade). When I was smoking she goes ';Aunt Corky why do you smoke? It makes your heart beat a lot slower and you could die,';. Damn school system. lol
GO TO MY QUESTION IF U CANT FIND IT TYPE SAMARIA AVILA AND ITS THE FIRST 1 HURRY I NEED THE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
    when i complimented our 8-year-old on something lately he looked at me very seriously and told me ';if you act like you're confident, you can do anything.';
    Just last night from my 4 y/o......';Tetnitly [technically] it is good for you because it has milk in it.';

    Hey, works for me.
When I get really stressed out my son (almost 8) says just breathe mom things will be okay. That makes take a minute to slow down a little every time.
Lexi told me (after firmly telling her to STOP picking on her brother), ';Mommy when you talk mean you hurt my feelings. If you talk nice, that makes me wanna be nice too';.

    Ouch.
My son told me when he was 6 years old that the most important thing in life is family.
DS told me a few weeks ago to, ';Make good choices, Mommy.'; Point well taken.
My SON gives Me Great Advice.. He's the Mature one in Our FAMILY....
My 9 yr old tacked a note up on my bulletin board at work 'work hard for money'. That was it. Pretty succinct.
recently my 7 year old found out that our Nanny is not a Christian, she is a budhist, I knew this when I hired her but I didn't thing it would ever come up, I mean really the woman barely speaks English as it is. Last night my son came to me and said ';mom, Mi (our nanny) is going to hell, she is godless and spiritually dead we should fire her at once.'; I'm so proud that he recognizes sin when he sees it, and at just 7 years old.

    god love him!
When my humans first got me that talked about eating me, they laughed and said i'd taste like chicken, they were bad bad people! But one of their little offspring said ';note eat da weeittle bunny she cute and she is a bunny note a ficken.'; he was only 2 years old and so so wise.

Is there a website where you can upload your photo and get hairstyle/color advice?

I am currently looking for a new hairdresser because mine never does what I ask her to do. I ask her opinion on what she thinks will look best and she will tell me what I pick out will be great. Then she does something completely different. I just really need some outside advice! Is there a website where you can upload your photo and get hairstyle/color advice?
photobucket. Then post the link on yahoo answers. Is there a website where you can upload your photo and get hairstyle/color advice?
If you google hairmixer.com you can upload a photo and the put different hairstyles on yourself and see how they look. Once you do that you can print out a picture and take it right in with you to your new hairstylist and then that way everyone will be on the same page. I would definitly recommend switching haristyles if she is going in the opposite direction of what you want tho. Because she is either not listening to you or doesn't know how to quite create the look you want. Good luck!

Can someone please give me some advice on buying a council house in the current market?

I recently applied to purchase the council house at which I live. However, with what is happening in the housing market right now, what should I do?

Should I continue with the purchase, and risk the chance that the value will suddenly drop after I've bought it?

Or, should I wait a while to see what happens and maybe purchase the house at a later time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ThanksCan someone please give me some advice on buying a council house in the current market?
    I would DEFINITELY buy it.

From what I believe you will be able to purchase your house at a reduced rate (our Friend has just purchased his 3 bed house for 拢25000)

You will automatically make a profit and get you on the property ladder.

Go for it!Can someone please give me some advice on buying a council house in the current market?
The answer will depend on the price the added cost (mortgage payments) and your own thoughts on risk. Nobody can tell you how far the market may fall (or rise) so you need to base your decision on the long term.

forex trading is for pros with lots of experience and deep pockets.

98% of all new traders, even in easier lines such as trading stocks, lose some, all, or more than all of their capital within the first two years -- according to one psychologist who has studied traders and trading for over 25 years.

this effect is so reliable that forex is one of the areas in which ';bucket shops'; still exist. A ';bucket shop'; is one that acknowledges your trade and then throws the chit for it into the bucket -- they never actually have the orders filled because they know that the odds of you winning in the long run are 1 in 50. if they're patient and keep good records, they'll almost certainly end up with your money. And, by not having executed the actual trades, they pocketed all the execution fees [which, btw, you paid]. [Sure ... they occasionally lose a bit -- but with 49 guys paying them for each one who takes some home, they can afford it.]

Hi, I'm 18 with some savings from work, & would like to start investing. Advice on any low risk plans?

the amount is small, $2k or so, i was looking at the some articles on 12% yield %26amp; compound interest so I'd like to start early, any good advice or articles would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Hi, I'm 18 with some savings from work, %26amp; would like to start investing. Advice on any low risk plans?
It's good see that you are planning early.

Yes, $2,000 invested per year for six years, at your age, will turn into millions at 12% by retirement age. But, wait.

You have six areas of your life to manage financially. They are:

    1) Income

    2) Debt

    3) Emergencies

    4) Protection of Assets

    5) Long-Term Savings (Retirement)

    6) Estate Planning (Death)

I usually recommend that my clients handle the above list in the order shown. Obviously, you have some income, and hopefully, you have no debt. If you have $2,000 saved, then you probably don't have an emergency fund.

Your emergency fund, ideally, should equal six months' expenses, although many feel that it should equal six months' income. This would be difficult for many people. Most people use a credit card for their emergency fund.

In your case, I would recommend that you set a goal of initially having two months' expenses in an emergency fund, before you look at any long-term savings. After that, plan on adding enough money to this fund each year to increase your account by one months' expenses. As your income goes up, your expenses will probably rise also, so this is not a linear savings model.

Put the first two months' expense total into a regular savings account that is immediately available (not a CD). Interest won't be much, but liquidity and availability are most important in an emergency. As your excess over two months grows to over $1,000 you should open some sort of no-fee cash management or money market fund account. ING has a good one.

Save at least 10% of your income now. If you can, save 15-20%. Live at home for as long as your parents will put up with you. Keep your expenses down.

Once you have $2,000 over and above the Emergency Fund recommendations, send me another question, and we will start on your Protection and Long-Term needs.

Just FYI, you should have auto and health insurance already. If no one depends on your income for support, you only need enough life insurance to cover your burial expenses ($25,000 should suffice). A VUL is probably not your best investment vehicle at this point, since you are much more likely to live than die over the next few years.

Unless you have driving issues, max-out your auto liability coverage, and keep the highest possible deductibles on your collision and comprehensive coverage. I'd recommend $1000/$250. DO get uninsured motorist coverage. If your vehicles are registered in your parents names, change them to your name only. Protect them from liability.

Let me know if you need more information on anything discussed here. Work your plan. Live long and prosper!Hi, I'm 18 with some savings from work, %26amp; would like to start investing. Advice on any low risk plans?
It is not easy to get 12% returns. The stock market averages 8%, but will not likely get that anytime soon, it is already down for the year. Banks will give you next to nothing. The best Money Market Account is currently yielding less than 4%. However, you might want to read this article, http://www.thefinancialfitnessclub.com/a鈥?/a> Given your rate goal, this might be right up your alley.
To get a 12% return while minimizing risk, mutual funds are the likely option. You might want to check out Morningstar as a starting point for fund ratings, min investments, etc. Avoid funds that have loads (a fee for contributing or withdrawing funds). I've found that Fidelity has some good mutual funds available, but the minimum initial investment might begin at 2K.

The best thing to do is to start reading finance journals and follow stations such as CNBC and Bloomberg. This will help to give you an idea of what your options are.

How can I find free legal advice?

Ive been rejected income support but need legal advice as Im a single mum trying to get divorced. We have a mortgage and he lives inthe house he wants to sell the house at a loss and wants me to put pay in for half the loss but Im jobless. Can anyone help? How can I find free legal advice?
Why cant you get income support ? I think you need to see your Citizens Advice Bureau to find out if you can claim any kind of benefit at all since you are a single parent. It may be that because your husband is still living in the house (I presume you are too) so I think selling the house is a good thing. If you have a joint mortgage then you are entitled to half so that you can start again.

Get some advice from the CAB but make sure they know what the appointment will be about.

Good luck. How can I find free legal advice?
    try CAB
    Where u from?

If UK, ur best bet is CAB. Depends on lots of things like who's name the house is in etc.

And dont let the yanks push u about on Answers! They think they own the place LOL
don't know...where are you at in the world ??? if you're in the US, you can try legal aid, if you aren't, scroll down to the flag of the country you need and ask there.
advice shop should be one in your area, contact the council 1st and they should point you in the right direction..

  • When I go out drinking I always end up texting inappropriate people. I need advice on how to stop?

I have done everything---erased numbers, given my phone to a friend, left the phone at home, but nothing seems to work. Somehow I always seem to say something I regret. I understand that drinking is at the root of this problem, but its unlikely I'll stop going out on the weekends. Does anyone have advice? Anything that has worked for them? When I go out drinking I always end up texting inappropriate people. I need advice on how to stop?
THe best advice I have is don't drink so much....it makes ppl do stupid things. When I go out drinking I always end up texting inappropriate people. I need advice on how to stop?
well you solved it but i guess you don't want to put action to it!

the root of your problem is how it will be solved! you tried everything else!

    maybe don't get drunk!

maybe learn to control your drinking habits!

maybe only go out for 1 or 2 tops!

stop carrying money (don't matter if your a girl you get free drinks anyway) at least i did!

if it is unlikely you stop going of drinking on the weekends then it's unlikely you texting someone something appropriate.

    sucks!

try going out on a weekend but don't drink!

Wow that way you can have your cake but no ice cream but you get what you truly want

    and that is

to learn to control your drunkenness texting or dialing! or at least making it look appropriate...

or is your goal not to have others call you out on that???

I would re think what you really want!

    LOL!

I have a friend who does the same thing, and i myself have. I woke up one morning and looked at my phone and thought OMG what the heck was I thinking!!!

Look at the reason why you are doing it? Is it because youre lonely? or looking for attention? Its not a good feeling when you break it down, that just because you're out, and drinking others arent. And not that you are purposely being rude, its the booze that clouds your judgement.

But just think how would you feel if after your night of drinking, you take someone home and your phone is getting blown up? Its only funny for a minute.

Tell yourself before the next time you go out boozing that you are going to be more mature and responsible and just dont do it!!
haha that's so funny that you asked this question because I do the same thing when I drink... except I drunk dial.

One day when I woke up from a night of drinking, I had outgoing calls to my dentist.. my hairdresser.. and my boss.

    LOL.

Advice? Well the other asnwers seemed good. I guess warning people would be the best, but honestly before you start drinking, put your mind set somewhere else besides the phone. Think about someone you like, or something you like to do.

Or maybe try drinking a different alcohol. What do you usually drink? Switch it up, because I know certain alcohol's have a specific affect on me... like when I drink vodka I get angry.
maybe you should warn people before you go out or avoid getting too drunk. If you continue to do things without learning from your mistakes it will continue to happen until you choose to make the difference.
Leave the phone at home when you go out and you know your going to drink. If you need to reach someone in an emergency, there is a phone not far off I'm sure.
I think leaving the phone alone is the root of the problem. Drinking #2
Maybe you need to stop drinking.

Are christians allowed to get bible advice from catholics or are we only allowed to ask christians?

Because I found a book on Jesus but it's written by a catholic so I don't know if it's valid or not.Are christians allowed to get bible advice from catholics or are we only allowed to ask christians?
I am a Christian and although I don't believe as the Catholics do, I love to read their literature. Any information about the Heavenly Father I find fascinating. Read the book. Enjoy the book. Remember one thing....Any religious book is valid to those who believe those beliefs. Who's to say our bible is valid. We do. Why? That's our beliefs in who we pray to, death after life, Mary, the Mother of Jesus. I think the Pope is a wonderful man, yet he does not believe the way I do. I also believe that I will meet him in Heaven. I don't believe that only one church, one faith is going to Heaven. Those who enter the gates enter because of their belief in the Heavenly Father, not because they have a religious title on themAre christians allowed to get bible advice from catholics or are we only allowed to ask christians?
Catholics ARE Christians!! However, not being protestant Christians you might find it contains things your own church wouldn't agree with, but if it sticks to talking about what the bible says, it should be an interesting read. One big difference between catholics and protestants is that catholics rely on church tradition as well as the bible. This is not surprising as it is the original Christian church and was around before the bible was ever compiled - in a way the bible could be said to be written church tradition - so that's something to watch out for. Remember the church was around a few hundred years before what is in and out of the bible was ever finalised - protestants seem to forget that.
You're ';allowed'; to do anything you want. That being said, Catholics have a different Bible than most other Christian denominations. As far as a regular book goes, take a look and see if it contradicts anything you believe in. There are vast difference between the Catholic Faith and other Christian beliefs. As a Catholic I try to only read Catholic material, but there are non-Catholic Christian books that I've found helpful as well. Things like ';Jesus is the Son of God'; are the same in Catholic and non-Catholic literature, and things like ';Love thy neighbor'; are the same in religious and secular literature. Use your judgement.
Catholics are Christians, as the definition of a Christian is one who believes in Jesus Christ. But just as not everything with a steeple on it has God's stamp of approval, not every book written about Jesus Christ is valid. You need the Holy Spirit to guide you in the truth.

    Yours in Christ, Nick
    Of course.

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

The World Council of Churches which brings together more than 340 churches, denominations and church fellowships in over 100 countries and territories throughout the world, representing some 550 million Christians accepts the 1.1 billion Catholics as Christians. http://wcc-coe.org/wcc/who/faq-e.html#07

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

    Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 C.E., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

    We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, ';in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.';

We truly are spiritually ';born again,'; we just don't usually use those words.

For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/inde鈥?/a>

    With love in Christ.
Are car-owner allowed to get auto advice from Ford auto mechanics or are they only allowed to ask auto mechanics.

    ?

Perhaps you should re-word your question.

    Jim, http://www.bible-reviews.com/selector_rc鈥?/a>
If you want advice , why not go to the written word to get it.?That is what we do. It matters not to us what lobel a person is under, we are under the advice of the written word. That is why we know it so well.WE READ IT.More important than that, WE BELIEVE IT.
If it matches up with scripture, sure, okay, if not, toss it.This is why in Hosea 4:6; it states My people perish for lack of knowledge. When you don't know your ';Human owners manuel';, you will read and believe anything. know your Bible.
You should read it. Even if you disagree with a different church's doctrine, learning about others faith increases your understanding of your own faith.
    ';allowed';? Seriously? Allowed by whom?

Anyone who believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ is a Christian. Therefore, whether you like it or not, Catholics are Christians.
Catholics are Christian, you would be denying yourself a lot of great spiritual insights if you skipped over great Catholic writers like Augustine, Saint John of the Cross, etc.
Who says Catholics are not Christians? They have some ideological differences from other denominations but the primary message is Christian.
Incase you haven't noticed, Catholics ARE Christians, we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord, God and Savior, and we are followers of Him.
Catholics are Christian. They believe that Christ suffered for our sins. They have some funny beliefs as well, but so do many other churches. But Catholics are Christians.
all Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are catholic
    Catholics are Christian.
    Catholics are CHristian
For the 390.038.302nd time: Catholics ARE Christians
It has to contain the scripture chapter and verse and match what the bible says, then you have to research it to see if it contains the same interpretation intended from the bible, if so then yes it is Okay, another way is to study about the author and what he stood for and also match what he lived with the bible, he has to have a good reputation with well known men of God.
Catholics are fine, read it and garner what truth there is to be had there.
    Of for hell's sake....

I just love saying that when I'm disgusted.

Then there's Oh for Pete's sake...
Pary before you read it....keep what is good and throw out what is bad.

    God loves you....God bless

Can you give me some good advice and tips on having a great time in Las Vegas?

This is my first trip to Vegas. I'm 28 yrs. old and need good advice on where to go and what to do in Vegas. Can you give me some good advice and tips on having a great time in Las Vegas?
    Sandy’s Vegas Guide

    Things to remember:

1.Drinks are free when you’re gambling. Sitting at a bar and playing a few dollars in a poker machine will get you a free drink. Sitting at a machine in the casino will get you the same. Tipping the waitress or bartender a dollar or two will keep her coming back. If you walk up to the bar and order drinks, you’re going to pay lots more, even for soda or bottled water.

2.Player’s Cards: Before you begin gambling, get a player’s card. Most places offer sign up deals (a coffee cup, a free meal, assorted coupons). If you get a card where you’re staying and you use it while you’re gambling, you can “save” the points and use then toward your room when you check out. Some casinos will combine accounts for married couples, some don’t. I always get a card in my name and ask for a second card. I play with one and my husband plays with the other. That way all the points are going to one card, and accumulate faster. Plus … you’ll get offers in the mail for your next trip!

3.Beware of time-share people! As you walk through the hotels and along the strip, you’ll be approached by people who want to give you free show tickets, free tours, free meals, etc. These are time-share sales people. They promise freebies in exchange for an hour of your time. I warn everyone about this but some people just don’t listen. A friend of mine decided an hour of her time was worth giving up in exchange for a show. So her and her husband accepted, were put on a bus and taken to a “presentation” and weren’t bought back for SIX hours. Their only escape would have been to take a cab back to the strip but that would have been expensive and they wouldn’t have gotten their “free” show tickets. The best way to get these people to lose interest in you and move on to the next person is to say, “Thanks, but we’re leaving tonight.”

4.Free Pulls: Some of the casinos offer “free pulls” on a special slot machine as you walk in the door. There are usually no strings attached, you pull the lever and win something. Usually it’s a key ring or a hat; sometimes it’s a free buffet. Sometimes it’s a coupon for a “fun book” (a book of coupons for that casino). To get the fun book, you can be sure you’re going to have to walk to a far, far corner in the casino. They want to get you WAY inside.

5.$40 for $20: Some casinos offer $40 in slot play for $20. What they don’t tell you is that it’s on a bank of “special” machines, and you can’t cash out for cash. Instead, you play the $40 and then choose a prize based on the credits. So before you hand over your $20, take a look at the prizes being offered. If there’s something in there that’s worth paying $20 for – have fun. If not, keep walking.

6.Valet: If you’re going to be renting a car while you’re there, valet parking is the way to go. For a $2 tip, you can park at a hotel or casino and visit the nearby hotels and casinos.

7.Bus: If you use the busses that run up and down the strip, put your wallet in your front pocket. Vegas is the favorite vacation spot for pick-pocketers, too.

8.Cabs: Cabs are more expensive than a bus, but faster and less waiting. Almost all hotels have a cab line outside one of their doors, a line of cabs waiting for the next fare. A hotel employee will whistle for the next cab in line when you ask for a cab.

Things to see (and most are FREE!):

1.The Freemont Street Experience: Every night there is a light and music show that stretches for blocks. It’s an amazing thing to see … and it’s FREE. Freemont Street is in downtown Vegas, you’ll need to take a cab if you don’t have a car. The street is blocked off from traffic and you can stand in the street and look up and watch the show. (Another place to keep a close check on your wallet.) There’s a different show every 30 minutes, beginning at 8:00 or 8:30 PM. Show times and pictures can be seen at: http://www.vegasexperience.com/ Be sure to check out the video! Freemont Street also has performers and kiosks all along it. Lots to see and worth a trip. Downtown used to be nasty and scary, but they’ve cleaned it up and it’s clean and safe now. Just don’t wander too far off Freemont on any of the side streets. You probably wouldn’t want to anyway, most of the action is right on Freemont.

2.The Fountains at Bellagio: Don’t miss this! It’s a 900-foot long row of fountains that “dance” to music. The songs change, and it’s awesome to see. More info at: http://www.vegas.com/attractions/on_the_… While you’re there, go inside and check out the conservatory. Very impressive!

3.Caesars Forum Shops: If you feel like strolling through Rome, check out the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. This is also where the talking statues live. More info on the shops and a link to info on the talking statues at: http://www.vegas.com/shopping/forumshops…

4.The Canal at the Venetian: This is pretty amazing and a MUST see. You feel like you’re in Italy as you stroll along the canal and visit the shops. You can even take a gondola ride. Check out the Canal Shoppes at: http://www.venetian.com/shoppe/index.cfm and get information on the gondolas at: http://www.vegas.com/attractions/on_the_…

5.The Volcano, The Tigers and The Aquarium at The Mirage: If you go up the moving walkway and through the front door at the Mirage, you’ll see the white tiger. Pretty cool to see. Head through the foliage to the front lobby and check out the wall behind the check-in desk. It’s a HUGE salt-water aquarium. In front of the hotel there is a huge waterfall that turns into an erupting volcano (loud, bright, and hot!) at night. A trip to Vegas without seeing the volcano erupt just wouldn’t be a trip to Vegas. http://www.themirage.com/

6.The Wildlife Habitat at The Flamingo: An outdoor habitat located within the Flamingo. You can see the live flamingos (still haven’t figured out how to kidnap one) plus lots of other birds, fish, and turtles. http://www.vegas.com/attractions/on_the_…

7.Masquerade Village at The Rio: Masquerade Village is inside the casino at the Mirage. There is a parade in the sky with music and dancing and lights that’s pretty cool to see. This is located off the strip, too far to walk, but there is a free shuttle that goes from Harrah’s to Rio and back. More info and a video at: http://www.harrahs.com/our_casinos/rlv/e…

8.The Eiffel Tower at Paris: You can take a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower. http://www.vegas.com/attractions/on_the_…

    More GOOD Las Vegas info:

http://www.visitlasvegas.comCan you give me some good advice and tips on having a great time in Las Vegas?
Do anything you feel like, try to remember that everything that happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas
Bring a suitcase full of money and 2 dozen condoms. You will be able to have plenty of fun. If you do not have a suitcase full of money, bring a Playboy magazine and a rubber glove. You will not have an opportunity to use the condoms without the money.

Actually, go to the Fremont Street Experience downtown. It is a tremendous light show starting at 9 pm and plays each hour.
Depending on what you want to do ? or who you going with??
There are plenty of good spots to go to in vagas, I went there when i was 14 and it wuz a lot of fun. There's the MGM Grand, where they hav tons of good stuff, like the tiger show, there's the hotel called New York New York which has an actual roller coster in the side of the building, Theres plarty of water rides on this one hotel that i don't remember but you'll see it. There's a hotel called circus circus which like has an amusement park right in side of it.There is one spot that is called game works, i think you'll like that place. And if youre in to gambling, you have the whole entire strip of vas to check out. If u just want to relax, then pretty much every hotel has a spa, pool and jacuzzi.
If you have any affection for strippers go to a Vegas Strip bar. They are some of the best clubs in the world.

Gamble in the crappy casinos like the Riviera or Circus Circus. They pay out better and have lower minimun bids than Luxor or Wynn.

Buy a 32oz mudslide and walk the strip about 11p, best people watching you will ever enjoy. Vegas is like a Circus that someone stretched out over several blocks.

Go see a Movie at 3a with a drink in your hand because you can.

Go to see Blueman or Cirque in Vegas, the home shows tend to be a lot more extravagant than when they tour.

Decide how much money you're willing to gamble each night, take that much cash with you, leave your credit cards in the room and you'll never be a bad gambler.

If you like guns take a cab to a shooting range and try shooting a machine gun. It's cheaper than a nice lunch and one of the best souvenier memories you can get for the money.

Don't flirt with waitresses, you'll get better service if you treat them with courtessy. Don't flirt with hookers/dancers, they're not giving it away. Don't flirt with dealers they want nothing to do with tourists. Flirt with bridal parties because someone in every bridal party wants to have sex with a stranger in vegas
    dont take money
This site is very helpful: www.lasvegasadvisor.com

I joined and got the coupon booklet. It has a lot of great coupons.
    Bring lots of money.

    leave without it.
Lots of fun stuff to do down there, but it does depend on what you're into and who you're going with. If you're into clubs, there's an endless supply. I've been to Vegas 7 times, but have never been to a club or to any shows. Too busy just walking around, playing cheap slots, drinking tons and watching people. Go to all the free things (lions at MGM Grand, tigers %26amp; volcano at Mirage, fountains at Bellagio, ect.) They are fairly entertaining and saves you from spending a little too much gambling. This sounds really lame, but my husband and I will spend a while playing on the moving walkways in the middle of the night after having lots of drinks. Actually pretty fun and totally free. Go online and check out what's going on at the different hotels before heading down there. Depending on how long you are down there for, you can take a bus tour to Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon. It's worth it and not that far away.

Have a great time. If you don't get to see or do everything, don't worry, you'll be back.

Is there anyway you can get your GGT levels in your blood down, any advice or know of any help info?

Your GGT level is something to do with your liver. I was wondering about the fact that is there anyway you can lower the levels? Is there anyway you can get your GGT levels in your blood down, any advice or know of any help info?
GGT is an enzyme which has it's highest concentration in the kidneys, pancreas and liver. GGT is often elevated in liver disease, particularly with obstruction of bile ducts, it would need to be investgated to determine the cause.

If your drinking in excess then of course reducing this will help

Both my parents have died any advice on how to cope?

My step-father murdered my mother then shot himself recently, leaving me with their house, pets, vehicles, bills and many unanswered questions. They both were in their 50's he had terminal cancer and she was in relative good health(compared to him).I would really like some advice on how to cope with this. Both my parents have died any advice on how to cope?
oh my god. im so sorry about what happened to you. how old are you by the way? anyway, i think you should go to your closest relatives and talk to them, just talk to them and they will give you comfort and be with you in the hard times(basically now). you should go to church/pray to god often so that he would guide you in this storm you're facing right now. don't lose hope, God doesn't give challenges that we cannot overcome. Pray to God for the salvation of your mother, and also the step dad so that they may rest in peace. I also suggest that you take care of the money that is there right now, left by them becuz you need to be thrifty. don't buy anything if it's unneccesary and just study harder. if you can't cope with it, go to counseling/recollection. i hope you will pass this storm youre taking.

Godbless! :)Both my parents have died any advice on how to cope?
My mum went through the same thing a couple of years ago when her mother died and her dad had passed away. she coped by choosing one night and letting it all out by looking at their pictures or at old cards sent from them. then just try and remember the good times you spent together and smile because they want you to be happy and have a good life.
First of all God is your strength...second I am sorry for your loss.

The pets..house..cars...should be yours...but not the bills...unless you signed for them...get a lawyer.

Keep your head high and remember the good memories of both of them...he truly was a sick man..don't let ';his'; sickness of what he did destroy you inside.

always remember when you are down that your mother was there for you..and you for her.
You didn't say anything about any kind of religious affiliation, however, I do want to mention how helpful a church can be. If you get involved somewhere, there are entire churches that will come together to support you and what you are going through. I say this because I went through something very difficult in my life, and decided to join a church and it was sooooo helpful. I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I sincerely hope you get the support you need. Online friends help too!
consult a therapist because this is the only way your going to be able to deal with what your going through and you have my deepest sympathy

Do women give men bad dating advice to make them miserable?

Like telling them to be nice and polite, paying for dates, being themselves, being patient and the right girl will come? I swear that **** doesn't work!Do women give men bad dating advice to make them miserable?
Well it makes you feel better and it is the truth, but it isn't detailed. They don't do it to make you miserable, they don't know what to say, but want to help. Do women give men bad dating advice to make them miserable?
No, they just want men eating out of their hands... but they don't realize is, when they get subservient men (whipped), they get bored and go after the *jerk*...

Here's the truth and seriously take what I say to heart... I wish someone told me this before.

You don't need to impress the girl, THEY NEED TO IMPRESS YOU.

Just remember that and you will go far in the dating world. Women love guys that they need to try and win over...

    This is the basic theory:

    1) Women want a guy who has high social value (tribal leader).

    2) Your social value according to her is based on how hard they need to work to get you.

Here's an example as food for thought:

A girl in a bar is near two guys... she yawns and says ';I'm thirsty, I need a drink... who's gonna get it for me';...

Guy 1: Oh I'll buy you a drink... what would you like?

Guy 2: There's the bar, you can fetch your own drink.

Guy 2 isn't necessarily an ***, he just is harder to impress and knows what he wants.

Which guy does the girl respect?

    Good luck!
dont be too nice be yourself if they dont feel secure with you it wonr work
Women have a Habit of droning on and reap eating the same crap that other girls tell them to say, things that sound nice , they are not naturally as bold as men so they wont give you the bitter truth.

Do not be nice and polite women hate that , go dutch on dates , and don't be yourself if you know yourself sucks , and try to pick a fight with some poor defenseless guy on your date , women love that!

  • Do you actually listen to the advice in here?

I am wondering if anyone actually listens to the advice in here? There is so much great advice and then there is a whole lot of stupid, if not dangerous advice also, that I wonder if anyone actually listens to any of it.

If you do listen to the advice, do you take it at face value or do you further research the answers you were given? If you actually made up your mind before asking, do some of the answers make you reconsider your position?

I really am wondering if what we do and say in here actually helps anyone? We see so many of the same questions day in and day out that I almost think that we are fighting a loosing battle to educate people in the care of their dogs. What are your feelings on this?Do you actually listen to the advice in here?
    Hi Kats,

I've asked a couple questions on another section of YA and got back several different types of answers. So what I did was to select what I thought were the most plausible answers; then reviewed the profile of those providing to see if they had any real qualification to back up their answer; then did some internet searching to try to dis-prove the more credible of those plausible answers. The answers which survived that 'cut' were those I chose to most consider.

Sometimes what is left are not the answers I am most comfortable with ... but if they came from a credible source and could not be dis-proved, I'd be foolish not to serously consider them.

From reading some of the 'best choice' picks by others (in a field I am expert in), I believe that many here choose the most satisfying answer based on what they can most comfortably relate to. That's what they call 'research.'

After you have explored this topic with your answerers, maybe you will then explore the quality of the 'questions' asked ... because they too can be a little strange.Do you actually listen to the advice in here?
Common sense and much research has helped me!
I want to believe that people do pay attention %26amp; heed some of the advise on here. There are some very knowledgable people answering questions.

I don't post questions unless it is something that might get people to thinking or questioning what I posted.

As a Professional I don't have questions to ask but I know Canines. I probably have forgotten more canine knowledge than most people will even know. But, I am more than willing to share what I know. I just worry that I didn't explain enough so that it is competely understood.

As everyone knows people are touchy about their dogs, just as they are about their children, so it leaves me worring cause I can't be there to instruct. So many times things are not understood %26amp; people assume you ment something you did not say.
I have listened to advice from questions I have asked on these forums with great success.

However there are new people coming to the forums that will ask the same questions over and over. Its not only on this board either. I have been to many forums where people ask the same questions.

That is just the nature of it for a popular board and many users.

Your topic post, well I have seen that posted granted not verbatim on different boards many many times.

Its the same thing just different person posting.
I have picked up a few things from those I have watched give accurate answers to other questions.

Very few I will add have the slightest idea about animals but the few that do I do trust. I do consider if I need advice on a situation I would ask them. I do believe there are a few breeders on here that I would trust. They are better than the hilljacks on here asking advice about ';birthin babies'; and the ignorant that give it. They are responsible enough not to give advice to the ignorant on here that wouldn't know what to do even with the knowledge.

Unfortunately the only issue Ive had no one knew about or heard. Was the puppy continuously growing teeth. The people that adopted her are willing to do everything to save her and there is still a chance it will stop so she doesn't have to have her jaw amputated.

The troublesome is the answers the askers choose. I really think that if the person is asking they don't know the answer and unless they go to the vet and get an answer then they should not deceive others that may be looking up a question.
You can only do so much. ';you can lead a horse to water........';.

I attempt to provide educated, practical advise to help people both enjoy their pets and have the animal lead the best life possible.

In my experience, if it is too much trouble or takes too much of their valuable time, the advise will not be followed. Even though it will cost more in the long run to not properly train and care for their animals.

The bottom line is the animal is the one to suffer needlessly.

We live in a short term, immediate gratification society. Everything has to be perfect and to expectations NOW.

It would seem prudent to listen to someone with 25 years experience in raising and training animals. I've received eMail replies that rip my advise as outdated and too time consuming.

You do what you can. Each small step is important in itself.

I preach training, sterilization and rescue as much as possible.

I guess experience is an essential factor in deciding how you want to care for your animals.

I've seen too much abuse and neglect to not try to help.

Look how children are raised now. If they don't behave as expected, and expectations are VERY low, medicate them in stead of actually addressing the behavior.

Keep on trying to help. Each person you reach, enriches their life and their pets life.

One step at a time. Good luck and don't give up.
I know for me I research everything. I get people's input from here and then take it and check and check it and check. Sometimes the information gives you a direction to go in. I listen to advice given by people who have actually had experience with the topic.

But I agree with you there are so many people asking the same questions over and over. There are also the peole who want validation for their opinions and do not care what others think. But truthfully there is so much that goes into having a dog and before anyone has one they should do research after research.
I've given lots of answers and asked a few questions. If you are a smart questioner, you will take the answers given and research a little further before acting or at least think the options through.

But I asked a question about a computer problem once and it led to several good ideas, two of which I implemented after further research. My problem was solved. Without Y Answers I wouldn't have come up with those ideas on my own.

So Y Answers is a good place to get ideas but it should probably never be the final word, especially on anything very serious.
Optimism keeps me hoping that they at least research the answers they get but reality makes me see that the majority of the people that ask questions are not looking for the truth only validation for their opinions.

Talking to people in person about dogs is the same battle. Just yesterday I had someone call me and tell me about the rescue they got and where was the dog? Alone with the kids upstairs. You know how many times I prepped them for this dog? I prepped them several times and one of the things I stressed the most was never leave the dog and kids alone, especially because this is a strange dog and the kids have not been around dogs very much.

Someone else who has one dog and does nothing with the dog told them my dog is fine with the kids. Who did they believe? The one that validated their opinion.
Some of it , yes- It has helped , yet sometimes it's awful the answers and some of the ?'s-I can't believe there are that many uneducated people about little things, like why does my bird bite me? or How do I name a doggie? Why do they ask ?'s that are like this? There are some very important ?'s people need answered-You shouldn't get a pet of any kind till you know more about it?There are so many breeds of dogs, cats , and even birds- Please , do some reshearch 1st., then buy later-They all need lot's of T.L.C.-
YES!!! I love the dog section. I have learned so much, especially what kind of dog food I should use. Also, you can pretty much tell when advice given is probably not the best.

Thanks to all the posters for making my Jack Russells healthier and happier!
I ALWAYS consider each rational answer, THEN I research it on my own, and make a good decision.

Keep doing what you are doing, it's important!
Actually I have learned a great deal from those who know what their talking about. I have learned about other breeds that I was not that familiar with.

Different kinds of training again from those who know what their talking about. I love hearing about different kinds things other knowledgeable people do and say here. Yes I do follow up on things. I read a great deal about some subjects that have been suggested to me. Like hearing different perspectives on subjects.

Never say never all ready know that if your open and willing to learn more on any subject either.

If we have even give some of the questioners a bit of information to make them think a bit than yes, I hope I've helped them along their decision making process.

I don't feel the need to just give up on anything. I'm a glass half full person not a half empty one.
I listen to certain people mostly- DP, Goldengal, Jennifer T, Dogjudge- are the first that come to mind.

People have told me to take my dog to the vet because he would die from 3 licks of coffee.

    People have told me that I should take my dog back to the shelter ASAP because ';hounds aren't meant to be pets and make terrible pets';

When I really believe my dog needs medical care we go to the vet.

I haven't yet listened to the food advice- but I still have about 30lb of IAMS in the kitchen- when it's done I am going to put some serious consideration into a different food.

I have seen some really stupid advice and some really great advice. There are alot of people in here who have helped me alot. Even just listening to me last night when my dog was sick and I was worried. People told me he'd be okay.

My vet almost laughs at me- but it's a small town and their aren't alot of choices. This is my first dog as an adult, taking the full responsibility and I need all the help I can get.
Most people here love their pets and most all say if the dog is sick to take them to the vet. No, I don't listen to everything but I love to hear solutions to raising a pet. I've researched everything in dog books. And let my vet have the final say so.

I love the pet column because sometimes it brings things up that I never thought of. Then I can ask my vet doctor.
I don't believe any advice can be taken at face value. even people trained in specific fields have been wrong and when questions are asked here, many of the answers are generalisations. generic questions and answers. But, there is usually enough information from combining the answers to aide in further researching the subject.
YES- I do!! For generations before the Internet, people learned everything by communicating with each other and learning from other people's advice. I have found this board very helpful raising my puppies. It gives me reassurance that other people have the same problems I have.... and even better- some have solutions!! Some things in here are just ignorant (bite your dog back when he bites) and obviously I do not take that to heart. But some things have been a lifesaver (put an old tee shirt with your scent in the crate to keep the pup from crying at night)!! I wouldn't ask a question in here regarding medical help, I would take the dog to the vet. But this is an extremely helpful resource for training and behavior modification. THANK YOU!!
Other than ' Take your dog to the vet NOW ' I don't think people should take what they read here as the Gospel truth. It should spark your interest enough to do more research on the subject.. Maybe someone's answer will give you those keywords that you can use in Google to find out more about the problem.. I check and verify what the vet tells me, making sure that I am ok with the side effects of a certain drug before I would give it.. My dogs, my responsibility to make sure that I am doing the right thing by them.
I am beginning to think that the people on here who really have a serious problem don't want to hear the right answers-just the easy ones. I just answered a question about a dog who has bitten quite a few people. I told the person that they needed to get the dog trained asap before they got sued or the dog was taken away and they were fined, and I got yelled at for it. Of course the answer they picked will put more people at risk for biting. This person stated to me that he was a responsible dog owner.

I am going to keep trying, though. Maybe one time one of these people will really listen to say, a great breeder who tells them not to breed, or a person who has experience telling them not to get a certain breed for their 2 year old. Or one person takes someone's potty training advice to heart and doesn't dump their poor dog on a kill shelter instead.

To give up would mean absolute failure.

(I do find it hard to be nice sometimes, though.Especially with the dangerous ones.)
Thank you for having the same feeling as I do. I get so tired of answering the same questions sometimes. You are right, it is like we are not even doing anything at all. I get so tired of listening to answer that are just downing the person who asked the question. I also get tired of stupid question and have to bite my tongue to prevent hurting peoples feelings. I think that one of the main problems is that a lot of the people asking for advice get so mad when they hear something that they don't like.

My point in answering questions, though, is not to hopefully make them do what I advise them, but to hopefully give open their eyes to sak questions when they do take the animal to the vet.
I read questions and then I read the answers.

I learn something new every day. There are people here that I can tell do ';know'; what they are talking about. I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable dog person. I'm not an expert by any means but I think I understand my own personal dogs.

With that said, I can tell by the answers I read who knows their stuff. Those people teach me something or give me something to think about almost every day.

I may have to look up something or do some more research but yeah, I do listen.

I sometimes think it's only the real dog people that educate the other dog people though.... I don't know...

I really respect many of the people in here. There is a lot of knowledge and experience in this forum and I'm very greateful to have found it.

Besides - it's fun. (and a great way to slack at work.... %26lt;grin%26gt; )
Some I think really do listen. I received a beautiful e-mail from someone a few weeks ago who had asked for advice on breeding her dog. You know I was not going along with it as it was going to make ';designer'; puppies. She took what I said to heart and visited her local kill shelter and asked how many dogs each month were euthanized as I suggested. Rather than breeding her dog (which is now spayed) she appiled to adopt a dog while she was there. (she e-mailed me pictures of her picking up her new friend so I know that part was true) Now she has the 2 dogs she was wanting and saved a life too.

Most I think seem to just look for the answers they want to receive whether it's good advice or not.

I do hope there are more like that young lady who really do want to do the right thing. I'm sure there are. They just often seem so very few and far between. If we can reach even one every so often though then we just have to keep on trying.
I have to agree, there is a lot of good advice and a lot of crap in here. I would have to say that people should listen to the advice as far as a point to go from for research.

Even though the answer might seem great and the solution to all their problems, they should look at it and do a little bit of research from it.

For all those people that ask questions about sick dogs, even at midnight, they need to contact their vets and not this board. Veterinarians are on call 24 hours a day, that's why they have answering services, and also people need to locate where the nearest emergency vet is. Some of the questions people ask sound life threatening. Some questions, people give answers that could put the animal further in harms way.

I BEG PEOPLE TO NOT PUT ANY EMERGENCY OR SICK ANIMAL QUESTIONS ON THIS BOARD, BUT CALL THEIR VET!

THEY SHOULD HAVE ALL OF THOSE NUMBERS SET ASIDE FOR JUST THESE TYPE OF QUESTIONS.

They can also ask their vet during normal business hours what to do in case an emergency arises during non business hours. PEOPLE YOUR VET HAS THE ANSWERS, NOT YAHOO ANSWERS!

    Great Question!
I actually don't answer medical questions as I am not a vet and If I were I can't see the dog anyway.

I usually answer dog training question or when people wnat to know the usual question ';what dog is best for me?'; etc etc etc...

and when I ask questions, I usually consider the answers if people put their sources, my questions are usually about dog breed, origins, training etc ... so nothing that would endanger my dogs or cats.

People who come here and ask questions about their pets' health are worried, maybe they need support, some might hesitate to go to the vet because of expenses: I am not here to judge, because as I work in the field, I can't judge people, because people have a hard time right now, and if everyone who cannot afford vet bills shoudl surrender their pets, I don't know what we would do at the shelter.

SO I don't appreciate judgemental answers. but I admit most questions here are stupid from people who don't do research, because internet makes it so easy now...

I answer some questions that I think might help that person make a better decision (adopt a pet) and otherwise I ignore the questions.

I need to know where to go to be honest. sights to see, best places to stay etc.

I'm going to be buying an old american muscle car and going from New Jersey to Cali, then up to vancouver and back through canada. book names or webistes for this sort of trip would be fantastic

many thanxWhat is the best book for advice on travelling north america coast to coast?
Look on Amazon.com for something by Frommers. He has a large staff that travels the world, gathering data for travelers.

I know he has done several on the US, coast to coast? You'll only know if you look. Also when you start planning your trip, you'll need a road atlas. Get a Rand McNally, WalMart Edition for around $4.95.

While traveling, stop at all state welcome centers and brouse their brochures for something that interests you.

My sister is planning to buy and learn how to play a violin, any advice?

My sister is planning to buy and learn how to play a violin, any advice?

Any advice would be appreciated. I'd just like to know some guidelines or things to know when it comes to buying a violin. Some information about learning how to play it and when and where to buy it. Especially here in the Philippines. Any advice? :) thanks :)My sister is planning to buy and learn how to play a violin, any advice?
Used instruments can be a very good choice for a beginner. One of the most important things with a violin is to be sure that it is the proper size for the person using it. A reputable shop will assist you by measuring the forearm and guiding you to instruments of the appropriate size. If your sister is young still, it is not a good idea to spend too much money, as the violin will need to be replaced with a larger instrument as she grows. If the forearm is exceptionally long, it is usually necessary to have an instrument custom made, which can be rather pricey. Regarding learning how to play one, check in your area for music teachers - you can sometimes connect with them through schools. If you cannot afford to pay for lessons, you can sometimes work out an arrangement with the teacher to do yardwork or housecleaning in exchange for the lessons. Good luck to you!

You probably will want to get a cheap second hand violin just to start out with this way you will not have wasted very much money if she decides to quit

this website http://www.violinlessonshq.com has lots of beginners lessons
    Yeah

    1. Rent a violin (In case she doesn't like it)

    2. Get an instructor for a bit

    3. When you buy it, don't put it in a hot place, cold place, or a wet place. (Damages the strings)
A violin is a cool instrument, I been playing it for 3 years :D

First you need to know what size to get your sister. If she is still growing i will recommend to rent one. Violin's come in different size so don't worry if you thing she is still too young to be able to grab one

Go to a music shop. There they will help you with any problem you have from finding the violin that fits her to showing her all the items that will help her maintane and handle her violin.

Theres the TUNER: helps you tune the sound of your strings

SPONGE: you put it under the violin so the edges of it wont hurt you, it also feels more comfortable

Also since she is just starting i would recommend her to rent a violin, because playing violin doesnt look that easy. You have to learn how to tone it, learn finger position, learn your notes (notes are like a language and you need to learn that lenguage to be able to play it) So if your sister just finds it boring or to hard, she can return the violin. If not she can move to buying one on the future

She needs to learn how to take care of it. Put it on a nice place not too cold or warm. the climate makes the strings stretch or shrink so she needs to tone it often. The bow (the big stick with horse hairs) don't touch the hairs. She will durty them, make them dark and ugly.

The rosin is what you put in your bow. Will help the bow slide through the strings, produce a better sound and prevent some rough sound that will make if it didn't had it.

To put it on the bow slide the bow from bottom to top, then top to bottom a several time.

If a string brakes go to a music store. There she can buy new strings (they will ask your violin size). If you ask them they will also put the string for her.

Hope that will help you, and I hope she will love her new violin

Im a current college student and am going cross country in america this summer. If anyone has had any experience with this i would appreciate any personal advice BESIDES ';DONT DO IT';. Ive already done a lot of research and pretty much have a planned route. But if anyone has any advice on how to choose the best rides or any other extra info or tips you think i should know, then i would greatly appreciate them.Does anybody have any valuable hitchhiking advice?
All i have to say is i just drove from New Hampshire USA to Texas and it is 2,000 miles and it took 30 hours! so if you're going across the whole country that's CrAzY! but anyways here in Texas there are signs in certain areas telling you not to pick up hitchhikers because it's a prison area (so avoid prisons) GOOD LUCK!Does anybody have any valuable hitchhiking advice?
If you haven't already used it, the site digihitch has a ride-sharing board.

They also have a forum, information on cross country trips with routes and travel tips from others.

I want to be a good dancer (not professional). Have any tips or advice?

I'm 14 and do ballet and contemporary dancing, but I've only started being serious about dance this year. I want to be more fit , strong, graceful, lean and slim like a dancer. Have any advice? Should I do more dance classes? Any advice would be great including health and diet and fitness. Thank you!I want to be a good dancer (not professional). Have any tips or advice?
In general: the more classes (and therefore the more experience) the better. It depends on your scedule. Don't take on more than you can handle, especially as you're at an age where school work is probably about to get that extra bit harder and larger in volume.

A none commital thing to do would be to buy some DVDs, sure it can't go on your CV but they will make a difference to your fitness and flexibility etc. 'Pump it Up' for example is a killer but is great for your fitness and stamina and for a general tone up. Pilates are great, (you could get a book instead), as a dancer they do not build up bulk for on stage, (see Darcey Bussell). There are loads out there, so find one that suits you. In the school term I get up early and do a warm up off one.

Something that might work for you and I am doing a lot more now is; as you already have experience, make up your own workouts using what works for you. I have a load of cards of exercises/stretches that target different areas of the body.

Find a way of keeping fit you enjoy and are likely to keep going at. Just make sure that you don't overdue it.

Hopefully you'll find something useful in all that, good luck!I want to be a good dancer (not professional). Have any tips or advice?
I'd say if you are getting more serious about then you Should take more classes. It feels wonderful doesn't it? I love dance. I took dance classes every year and I'll tell you I didn't need any exercise programs or things like that. Dance will keep you fit and strong. Dance is a huge part of my life and my heart. Dancing will keep you slim and make you strong don't worry.

Of course you should always eat right no matter what. But I don't typically get into diet regimens, we all know the typical routine: not too much sugars, fats, or salts, blah blah...
Dancing is my job, and I work in a contemporary company. Many of the people I work with now or in the past have started much later than you, and have a natural aptitude for it. Someone I trained with started when he was 26 and is now working in a full time company! I made the decision to be a professional dancer at your age and trained in both ballet and contemporary. The only other thing that may help you is some sort of gymnastic/acrobatic training (it's a great tool to have for dance). Don't worry about your weight. You're young! And I think that too much pressure is put on dancers to be stick thin. BORING. If you want to be a contemporary dancer then be yourself, NOT what you think other people expect of you. Being yourself is what will get you jobs in the end...Good luck!
u should believe in yourself and work hard. try to make goals for yourself. also try not to eat alot of junk food.
I'm a dancer. I'm only 13 but I am very strict with myself. I dtretch twice a day, and paractice three times a day. I drink three glasses of milk each day and I eat two apples a day. I don't eat junk food unless its a special occasion. In the summmer I sort of slip a little with junk food like I eat one ice cream every week in the summmer. Advice would be do my routine, it works for me, I'm in a high jazz, pointe and ballet class. My tap class works differently though. I think you should take two ballet classes. You might become proffessional soon.
Taking more classes will off course help you, but if you don't have time for it, you can start with the stretching every day. take a look at this site...:

    http://www.drillobsession.com

    Hope that helped:)
I wouldn't take a lot of classes yet. But make sure you do some kind of stretching every day and a little bit of warming up before stretching. Just make sure you have fun. Dance isn't all serious. But I would try different styles. Have fun!

    ~

    E
Well you should work at it take more classes what ever you can do. You should get plenty of exercize and eat plenty of good foods so you can stay lean.

What is wrong with financial advice today?

I am thinking about writing a column on money...but there are plenty of sources of information out there now.

What don't you like about the way money advice is given and what would you like to see to make it better?

Thanks a bunch -- hopefully your advice will help me help people do better with their finances....and perhaps make them (and their spouses or partners) happy too. What is wrong with financial advice today?
Yea, that is a good question. Most ';brokers'; today want you to invest in products in ';their'; best interest. That's why its good to go to a financial advisor or planner when making investing decisions. They have nothing to sell. A broker on the other hand has everything to sell, especially things that will get him or her a fat commission. What is wrong with financial advice today?
    Incredible question!

Investment advice from most investment professionals is biased.

Investment advice from most non professionals is inaccurate.

The poor investor is the victim in either case.

You must find a professional who is both knowledgeable and unbiased. GOOD LUCK!

Your best bet is to find a seasoned professional (20 years or more in the business) who works for a fee and not a commission.

If you want to email me: bands@foxalot.net I can try and help you with your problem if you give me more info on the problem. You might have a tough case. You may not need an entertainment lawyer but you will most likely need a lawyer.Does it cost to get advice from an Entertainment Lawyer?
Why get an Entertainment Lawyer when you have Yahoo! Answers?

    Plus it is FREE!!!!
There are online legal services you can use. Google some key words until you find what you want. You dont have to pay an entertainment lawyer for some advice when you can get it on the internet for free.
If the other writer has legal claim, you will want a lawyer. You will also want a lawyer who does not give their services away for free. A good lawyer will listen briefly to the issue and then tell you if they will take you as a client. They will also ask for a retainer and bill for a longer initial consultation.
Legal advice is like most things... you'll get what you pay for.

You should be able to get a free consult from most lawyers but detailed advice should cost you in proportion to the amount of time, effort and skill involved in your particular case.

    Good luck with your problem.

Keep answering the questions specifically and directly, with that integrated vocabulary. Show that you know how to communicate effectively with leaders from all regions of the world, while maintaining your principles. Your ';attitude of gratitude'; expressed in response to the final question is appreciated. Listen to the questions, and the spirit behind them carefully, and strive for Truth---most of all, savor this opportunity to share your views, as you seemed to in Texas. I liked how you were appreciating the moment in the moment, rather than merely as a means to an end.

.Clinton and Obama supporters...What advice can you give YOUR favorite candidate for the debate tomorrow night?
To Obama: Stay above the fray. Let her rant and rave. Use more comments like the ';silly season'; one to show you have a sense of humor. Also, don't let her get away with being the candidate who ';makes'; it look like she cares about the American people (like her last debate closing comments). Keep inserting personal stories from regular Americans you have met and keep the focus on what you can do for the country.

    Clinton: Stay home!
My advise would be to the moderators......

Ask more questions first to Obama so it gives him the opportunity to think of his own responses instead of piggybacking off of Hillary's answers.

    VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON!!!!!!!!!!!
To hillary: skip the debate, its not like your going to have any new ideas to the ones people already told you, and go get a full body make over.

To obama: try to look more patriotic to the U.S., don't wear the tribal garb to the debate.
I would tell Obama to keep his cool and to keep on the lookout for anything that Hillary will say. He studied law so i would tell him to use that to argue with logic and facts.

    Obama '08
To Hillary address these with Obama:

PLEASE READ .THIS IS AN ISSUE AMERICANS NEED TO LOOK ON AND LOOK UP TRUTHS ABOUT THIS MAN. GOD HELP AMERICA!

a couple of interesting things about Obama

http://www.mywire.com/pubs/PRNewswire/20鈥?/a> - for same sex marriages, abortions (even partial birth abortions - this allows the baby to be born and they let it lay and die - starve to death) and is against absolute authority on the bible

He is for socialized medicine or health insurance - Government funded health insurance with the funds derived mostly from taxes. so...we will then have the government telling us which doctors we can see...and when we can see them..interesting..dont you think? Also, if it is being paid from the taxes, I believe the rich will pay the most but all of our taxes will go up to pay for this. so, he promises that we will pay cheaper premiums, but it will be paid thru our taxes. I don't like seeing anyone without insurance. But, I don't agree with socialized medicine. I don't want the government controlling my insurance.

http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PA鈥?/a> - Obama is not what I would call a christian if he is a follower of this church. The socialist beliefs of Barack Obama's church should be a major concern to voters because they are far out of the mainstream of American thought. Obama's connection to the militant opposition leader in Kenya and his supporting militant Islamic groups trying to overthrow the U.S.-friendly government in that country should be of concern. Al-Qaida would love to see the takeover of Kenya occur.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/sweet/81125鈥?/a> - Obama tells people he is a christian and not muslim - On Sunday, Obama told the Jewish group his Kenyan grandfather was a Muslim and he has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago for 20 years - but then his campagne leaders distant him from his preacher because of their beliefs.

However, the pastor of his church, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has created problems for Obama in Jewish circles. A magazine connected to Wright honored Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and last month Obama said he condemned ';the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan'; and disagreed with a decision to honor him.

To Obama, concede now and save face
Well I would certainly recommend Obama where the Kenya

suit,, they say thats in right now,,, And If he can't get out of

denial long enough for that,, He might try the tricky little

apollo creed outfit from the Rocky movie,, Little acne loaded

18 year olds will love that one,,For Hillary, well the ice queen

needs to toughen up, He needs to drag bill out on stage,

and slap the hell out of him,, that would get a few votes.

Otherwise it would be nice if they just ate each other alive.
    Dont screw up. lmfao
For Obama- Keep your cool and let hillary make a fool out of herself trying to keep the campaign negative. Possibly give more details on how you stand on the economy/iraq/ and healthcare.

For Clinton- DON'T GO NEGATIVE. This hasn't worked for you before and it certainly isn't helping you now.
Obama: don't attack, let Hilliary make a fool of herself.
to Hillary .... leave the sarcasm at home ...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pPV1yd7s鈥?/a>
to Obama, work on your presentation, unfortunately, people are impressed when you can prattle your response without thinking about it. Also, keep your cool because when Hillary starts attacking, she will be digging her own grave. If you take it gracefully, you will bury her in her own crap.
To Hillary: You got to lay it all out there for the people. Unmask this cult leader for who he really is. You've started to already - but keep going.

To Obama: Don't be so smug and act all surprised that Hillary is mad when you make falsehoods in your literature about her. And come with more ideas - don't just add on to what Hillary says.
Obama doesn't need any advice he is a leader naturally and will deal with what ever is put in front of him.He has Good intentions and great Karma!

    Obama 2008!!!
    Bring a gun.
I'd tell Hillary to stop attacking Obama -- every time she does negative campaigning the audience hates it and Obama moves farther ahead. But I'm still expecting to see her attack Obama tomorrow, and him stick up for himself but otherwise show more class.
    what channel is it on?

hillary should talk about obamas racist pastor and his unpatriotic wife.

    obama-keep it cool
