I need advice. What are the cheapest strips to use? Spending $100 on 100 strips that will last a week is hard?

My husband was diagnosed with type 2. He's supposed to check his sugar levels 10 times a day until his sugar is controlled. He has other health problems and most of our money is going to everything else. Help! I need advice. What are the cheapest strips to use? Spending $100 on 100 strips that will last a week is hard?
Walmart has a brand of monitor called ReliOn. It only cost about $9.00 and the test strips are about $45 for 100. Most monitors use strips especially made for them, that's where they all get you. If you have insurance, it may pay for your strips. The ReliOn is a very good, reliable unit, I keep one at work and use it every day. I need advice. What are the cheapest strips to use? Spending $100 on 100 strips that will last a week is hard?
are you buying strips because you have no insurance? the doctor can prescribe the test strips and the lancets as a prescription, like i have. my insurance pays for everything except a 5 dollar deductible. my mother test more than 6 times a day and her insurance pays. if you have no insurance, i believe walmart has a meter for about 9 or 10 dollars and the test strips are about the same.
I am using the TrueTrack meter and strips are $60 per hundred at the pharmacy.

However, I buy mine off ebay and have lowered my costs to around 30 dollars per hundred or 30 cents each strip on Ebay Buy It Now.

So far, I've had good experience but you need to be careful when buying off ebay.

Don't buy expired strips EVER! No matter what the seller says about them lasting longer. Just don't do it. If a pharmacy won't risk selling them, why should you take a risk buying them?

Strips need to be at least a few months away from expiry before you even consider them.

You can buy, but you need to be wary and ask questions. Regardless of where you buy them, faulty strips could cost you your eyesight or a limb or a kidney, etc...

There are a some more tips about glucose strips and ebay located on the web page below which is where I learned the ins and outs...

The other link has some good info about glucose meters in general..
I buy mine off of ebay and they are much cheaper there than any store . wow is your husband on insulin ? if he is not maybe he should be checking his sugar ten times a day . I am on insulin and type 1 and dont check mine but four times a day . I think your husband might need to see an endocrinologist , that is a diabetes specialist .
Do you have insurance like Medicare or state help? There are businesses that bill these kinds of insurances and they mostly pay for the monitor, strips and supplies. Also I would call a pharmacy and ask them if what you do buy can be bought in a bigger bulk that should cost less than smaller amounts.

Below is the company name that I go through to get my supplies that might be able to help you:

DIABETES CARE CLUB- 1800-883-0608
Well your numbers are off by about 30%.....

10 strips a day X 7 days will be 70 strips, not 100.

But if your looking for less expensive strips then you'll have to find another meter or a different place to buy them that will charge less.

Each type of meter uses it's own strips for that particular meter, they're not universal.

Here's a good site that rates meters, their accuracy and gives the costs of strips, but all prices are subject to change.

Avoid sugar, eat balanced meals. Check 2 hours after eating until you learn what foods to avoid. Once you learn, you don't have to test too often. Test once every few days.
If you don't have insurance, try this site:
