I want to start running, as in jogging - any advice?

I've never done it before and I know that if i start off trying to run any distance I'll get disillusioned! I think I need a plan...

Would appreciate any ideas.I want to start running, as in jogging - any advice?
Don't start with 20 miles at 7am every morning! Always have water with you! Bring a really big bottle. Also, clothes, make sure they're more comfortable than stylish, and right for the weather, otherwise you might have to stop because it's too hot/cold ETC. How about going jogging with someone you know? It'll make it more fun too.. But if you're going on your on, make sure you know exactly where you are, for safety and for distance, and you can also set yourself a target, like running to your local park and stopping to have a drink.. You get the idea =]I want to start running, as in jogging - any advice?
id start out running until you get cramps then stop, keep gradually going farther, drink alot of water so u dont get dehidrated. Keep at it and don't skip alot of days or you'll end up quitting
just start off running 10min-w/e pace it takes to keep u going w/o walking. remember not to stop just cuz u feel a bit tired. u wanna stay in shape so puch urself (not to the point of killing just to keep u going hard). then move up to 15 then 20 then 25......60! remember to drink water and stretch before and after, or ur muscles will be sore and tense after. run everyday and up ur time every week or so. if u feel like ur taking on way to much move it down 5min. just do ur best and keep runnning!!!! :-)
Well first off I'm happy to hear you want to run (as in jogging) and I commend you for that. (applause) That's your first step to getting anywhere. From personal experience, I would start off small. One mile, run every other day to allow adequate rest for your body. Two weeks later, add another mile, etc. Make sure you stay hydrated! Also, if you sweat ALOT or you run for an hour or longer you should replace electrolytes lost through sweating. Here's my recipe for an electrolyte/ rehydration solution. 1 liter H2O + 1 tsp salt + 4 tblsp sugar. This does best if dissolved in hot water, then just toss it in the fridge for a bit. Good luck and hope I helped!
warm-up and stetch your legs and groin areas thoroughly first, then set urself a certain time limit in which you will jog or run in, perhaps 10 mins for a beginner then once you start to feel stronger and feel more capable then increase the time limit.

wat u cld do is run on the spot or near all alround ur local park or in a safe area with a friend to make it safer and enjoyable. Its really up to you and hope u stick to this initiative.
Try jogging every day a little bit first and then start jogging a longer distance. Try running on grass so that your knee doesn't hurt.
log on to runners world and do one of their run/walk programmes, they really work. good luck.
don't bother...it's all a big waste of time

The guy who first introduced it, died on his second time out.

He never took any kind of drug in his life, never drank alcohol and was diagnosed as perfectally healthy.

Think about it!
No actual running advice, but make sure you get the best sports bra you can afford, south facing is not a good look!
