Cooking question. Im preparing a romantic meal and need advice for the meat.?

I have four juicy pieces of steak and i was wondering how i could prepare the wonderful meat for my anniversary, without burning it or cooking it on the barbeque. Any ideas. Also any romantic ideas for the rest of the meal would be helpful also. Its our one year anniversary.Cooking question. Im preparing a romantic meal and need advice for the meat.?
Hmm, you don't want to put on the grill? Well, you could try pan frying it. My husband does it with a recipe from Mark Bittman: How to cook anything.

I don't have the book with me here at work. You may want to try to go to Allrecipes.com and try it there.

As for additional dishes- how about mashed potatoes? Oven roasted potatoes (red potatoes cut in chunks, add 2 tablespoons olive oil, salt and pepper- then put on cookie sheet in the oven for about 40-50 min) HMMMM

Add a salad with fresh greens for your vegetable! You can add tomatoes or cukes, etc.

For a wine (if you drink) a shiraz or red zinfadel

Happy AnniversaryCooking question. Im preparing a romantic meal and need advice for the meat.?
A nice and simple marinade of red wine, some salt, pepper, olive oil, and garlic (preferably fresh but garlic powder works in a pinch). Then simply saute it in a pan on your stove top. Although I still prefer the grill. Make a little couscous and place the steak and veggie on top and it makes an easy yet filling meal.
broil the steaks to preferred doneness.

top with hollandaise or Bearnaise sauce

top that with pieces of lobster.

twice baked potatoes

asparagus with garlic and butter

warm dinner rolls

chocolate covered strawberries and champagne for dessert

in bed

Have FUN!!!
For the meat you could season the way you like, drizzle on some olive oil, wrap in tin foil and bake at like 250 to 300 for a while. check the middle for doneness to your liking. For desert the best is choc. covered strawberries!!!
Let's see...you could rub the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides and saute them in butter until it's nicely seared on one side. Then flip them over and cook them to your liking. I love medium rare. Serve with your favorite steak sauce or just add a pat of butter on top of it when you flip it over, sprinkle some freshly minced parsley on top and serve immediately. If you like your steak a little spicy, rub a little cayenne pepper with the salt and pepper before cooking the steaks.

For the sides, try some asparagus. Fill a plate with asparagus and line them up in a single layer. Sprinkle some water on them and microwave them for 2 minutes. They should be perfectly done. Melt some butter in a saucepan. Add some freshly squeezed lemon juice, some Dijon mustard and season to taste with salt and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined. Pour over asparagus. Garnish with some lemon zest.

And how about some parmesan cheese mashed potatoes? Clean potatoes, peel them (or not if you like the skins), cut them up into quarters and put them in a pot of cold salted water. Cover pot, bring pot to a boil, let potatoes boil for about 20 minutes or until a knife can be inserted partially into one of the quarters without no or little effort. Drain water from potatoes, bring pot back to stove and mash potatoes with a potato masher until it's the consistency that you want. Add a stick of butter and put potatoes over butter to melt. Once melted, mix with wooden spoon to combine. Add milk or cream to potatoes and mix again.. Add parmesan cheese, sour cream and ground black pepper and mix again.

For dessert, how about some chocolate pudding cupcakes. Make some chocolate cupcakes, some chocolate pudding and some chocolate sauce by melting some of your favorite chocolate in a metal bowl over a pot of simmering (not boiling) water. To assemble, cut off the tops of each of the cupcakes, fill with pudding, put top back on, garnish with chocolate sauce and dust with powdered sugar, if you wish. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

I hope this helps. I wish you a very happy one year anniversary! Happy cooking!
forget the steaks, save them for the BBQ..go for shrimp...you can boil them ahead of time put em in the fridg.to chill and then you and dip them in COCKtail sauce and feed them to each other..no mess no clean up more time for fun..don;t forget the candles...congratulations on your first anniversary
A simple marinade of 1 cup ketchup and 1 cup red wine is delicious. Season the steaks first and then put them in the marinade. You can grill some vegetables, in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar, (no corn it gets stuck in your teeth and that not romantic.) Make some homemade mash potatoes. and strawberries and whip cream for dessert. Just save some whip cream for later!
put a little oil or marinade in skillet, water and vinegar. put whatever spices you like on top. continue to turn meat. as the liquid cooks out, the steak will begin to brown. cook until it is the way you like it.

FRIED STEAK WITH HERBS

2 slices fillet steak

3 tbsp oil

mixed herbs

garlic salt

This method is for 1 piece of steak. It must be repeated with the second piece of steak. Do not add extra oil.

Take the steak and cut thin scores in it. Do this on both sides. Heat pan over medium heat and add 2 tbsp of oil. In a skillet, fry steak until brown.

Mix the herbs with the rest of the oil. Add 1/4 of the oil mixture. Turn over steak; it should sizzle.

Add herbs to the other side and the same amount of oil. Mix on this side.

One side of the steak herb mix takes 30-40 seconds. Flip after this time and do other side.

Repeat steps 1-8 with next piece of steak.

NOTE: Oil in herb mixture can be omitted from the recipe. Just sprinkle over herbs and rub in.

CLASSIC STEAK DIANE

4 pieces fillet steak 1/4 inch think

1 oz (25 g) butter

2 tbs oil

worcestershire sauce

2 tbs lemon juice

1 1/2 tbs finely chopped or grated onion

2 tbs chopped parsley

Heat butter and oil. Fry steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan and keep hot. Add worcestershire sauce to butter and oil in the pan, then add lemon juice and warm through. Add onion and parsley and cook slowly for 1 1/2 minutes. Spoon sauce over steaks and serve immediately.

As for romantic ideas, I'd say go with the flow. Don't plan anything other than the meal and the setting. Go with whatever you guys feel like. Its your first anniversary, celebrate making that year with hard work from both of you. Not many out there can make it that far.
If there strip or port house the only way I know is to cook them on a grill either a gas grill or a oven grill. as for the rest of the meal not thing goes with steak like twice backed potatoes' a great salad' corn on the cob Glass of wine and for desert chess cake with cherries. that should do it for at least 10 years
Burn the steaks.

Undercook the potatoes.

Forget to cook any other veggies.

Put a head of lettuce, 3 big tomatoes and a cucumber in a large bowl.

Then make a sign to hang around your neck

';DESSERT';
Steak %26amp; Spinach Roll-Up Roast

Serves 4

Serve a salad with this delicious meat %26amp; veggie combo and you've got one of the easiest meals ever.

8 slices bacon

1 to 1 1/2-pound beef flank steak

3/4 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning

1/4 tsp salt

1 10-oz package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained

2 Tbsp fine dry bread crumbs

1/2 tsp dried thyme, crushed

Dash salt

Pre-heat oven to 375F.

ln a large skillet cook bacon over medium heat for a few minutes just until brown but not crisp. Remove from skillet; drain on paper towels. Set aside.

Score both sides of steak by making shallow diagonal cuts at 1-inch intervals in a diamond pattern. Place steak between two pieces of plastic wrap or waxed paper. With a meat mallet pound steak into a roughly 12x8-inch rectangle. Remove plastic wrap (duuh) and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp of the lemon-pepper seasoning and the 1/4 tsp salt. Arrange bacon lengthwise on steak.

For the stuffing combine spinach, bread crumbs, thyme, the remaining l/4 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning, and the dash salt. Spread over bacon.

Starting from a short side, roll up the steak and secure with cooking twine. Roast for about 12 minutes for medium doneness, more or less to taste.
You have to BBQ a good steak. There is really no other way to prepare it.

But, if you do not have access to a BBQ, you can try Beef Pot Pie, Shepherds Pie, or Beef and Biscuits or stew, (YUM).
