Can anyone give advice about how to stop my male 5month old bunny from biting/scratching?
It would be well worth getting him him neutered. It will calm him down and improve his temprement and can potentially prolong his life and prevent cancerous tumours.
If he is still a bit grumpy after he has recovered from being neutered then it may be worth introducing a female rabbit that is roughly his age. That can sometimes work in calming a male down. But you would need to get the female spayed as well.
Continue to spend lots of time with him and persevere with giving him attention. When he is well behaved, make sure you reward him.Can anyone give advice about how to stop my male 5month old bunny from biting/scratching?
Neuter him. Scratching and biting is often territorial in nature- removing the hormonal source of it should help. Also, rabbits generally do not like to be restrained. Sit on the floor and let your bunny choose to interact with you, he will be a lot happier for it and you shouldn't get scratched or bitten like you would picking him up or restraining him.
Well for his age this is normal, and he may grow out of it. Also he has to become familiar with his surroundings and the people he is around, and he has to learn that you are the dominant one. I know it sounds weird but he is testing his boundaries and trying to show you he is the dominant one.
Try holding him on your lap and when he gets 'mean', press down lightly on the nape of his neck. This should make him rest his head. Another trick is to turn him over so he is lying on his back, this releases endorphins and gives him a chance to calm down.
If it persists into adulthood, neutering may be another option.
Get him neutered.
You need to hold him a lot. Sit on the floor rabbits are terrified of hights!
Give him some play things :) He might just be bored.
