If you are relocating with your employer you should be able to ask them. Most employers have a human resourses or relocation staff to assist with all the questions that must arise when these transfers occur.

Advice on washing machine products?

My husband and I have moved from Europe to the US 6 months ago and we are both really reacting to the products for washing clothes. I have tried Gain, Surf and Woollite so far. Does anyone know any other products I could try?Advice on washing machine products?
What kind of reaction are you getting? If your skin is reacting to the soaps, try Ecos Free and Clear soap, or Method Free %26amp; Clear soap. Either one will help with the allergic reaction. They are also both biodegradable and good for the environment.

  • Our new landlord wont sign existing damages paperwork with us but still wants our deposit! Advice?

We moved in 3 weeks ago, and he gave us a week to return the paperwork concerning anything wrong with the house. We found many things wrong, but he has not signed the paperwork, or come over to do a walk-through. The deposit is $1600, which we are paying in 4 monthly payments. Should we give him the deposit? I am worried he will blame us for existing damages and try to keep our money. We already signed the lease and moved in, so leaving is not an option. Our new landlord wont sign existing damages paperwork with us but still wants our deposit! Advice?
Take pictures immediately with date stamps on them. Make two sets. Send one set to him with a certified letter saying that, since he refuses to do a move-in walk thru with you, this is a detailed list of the damages and informing him that you will not be responsible for these damages.

Make sure you keep a copy of the letter and the set of pictures. If the landlord tries to keep your deposit later you'll have excellent evidence when you sue him.Our new landlord wont sign existing damages paperwork with us but still wants our deposit! Advice?
Lucky you to have a landlord that takes security deposit in payments spread out over 4 months. The walk through should have been done when you moved in. Call and talk to him and see if he'll set up an appointment to do a walk through. I'd go ahead and tell him he isn't getting any more of the deposit until this is done. This might motivate him. Do continue paying monthly rent on time.
Take pictures before you live there long. Tell him you aren't paying the deposit until he signs the paperwork. That a heavy duty deposit for a place that should have been renter ready. and wasn't.
In addition to the two very good answers above, check your state landlord/tenant laws to see if they address your issue.
I would take pictures at this point to document what there is. And I would let him know that he needs to sign it before you can complete the deposit portion of your lease. If necessary you can call the city to see what your rights are in this matter.
Take pictures and don't give him the deposit until he signs the paperwork.

Advice from people involved in careers that took 2 years or less training?

Hey, I need a little advice from people who have careers that only took 2 years of less to train for. Maybe you went to school at any random technical college or community college. Maybe they have some special, designated places for training for specfic career choices.

I just need some ideas of decent paying jobs that only take 2 years or less to train for. If you are person who has one of these type of careers, let me know what it is that you do and are you living comfortable doing whatever it is.Advice from people involved in careers that took 2 years or less training?
Some career choices that require 2 years training or less are LPN (nurse), graphic designer, truck driver, plumber, electrician, body work technician, etc.,

Why is it that i can give advice on things i havn't experienced?

I always know what people are talking about and can help people with their problems and get thumbs up and everything, even people with marriage, and i'm 15! I'm not even joking, i feel as if i can help and know what I'm talking about. Why is it that i can give advice on things i havn't experienced?
Believe it or not but your lack of experience means that you only have a limited scope of solutions, and apply accordingly.

For example when we are little we all believe stealing is wrong, when you get older you tend to look at the context more

But just so you know for the most part stealnig is wrongWhy is it that i can give advice on things i havn't experienced?
perhaps you are just a matured guy.you might have watched such things happening on tv shows, movies, read them from novels. These things are complicated and you are able to put yourself in these people's shoes but never enough to fully and completely understand them as well as their actual situations. Experience is the best teacher whether in relationships, business,or the many others. But who the heck would want to go through such failures like divorces or cheatings. But whatever. Go on and advice/help people. It's really nice and thoughtful and i'm sure they would all appreciate it very much.

It's called intuition and is a powerful tool. I do or decide most things best when I don't put a lot of thought into it. You might say my conscious mind gets in the way of my more intuitive side. That is true for most things from golf to problem solving and many points in between. It's a great gift, use it well.
haha, i am the same way and it's funny and weird, but i love it!
Yeah right. Sound like you just tell people what they want to hear, which is very very easy.

Cooking question. Im preparing a romantic meal and need advice for the meat.?

I have four juicy pieces of steak and i was wondering how i could prepare the wonderful meat for my anniversary, without burning it or cooking it on the barbeque. Any ideas. Also any romantic ideas for the rest of the meal would be helpful also. Its our one year anniversary.Cooking question. Im preparing a romantic meal and need advice for the meat.?
Hmm, you don't want to put on the grill? Well, you could try pan frying it. My husband does it with a recipe from Mark Bittman: How to cook anything.

I don't have the book with me here at work. You may want to try to go to Allrecipes.com and try it there.

As for additional dishes- how about mashed potatoes? Oven roasted potatoes (red potatoes cut in chunks, add 2 tablespoons olive oil, salt and pepper- then put on cookie sheet in the oven for about 40-50 min) HMMMM

Add a salad with fresh greens for your vegetable! You can add tomatoes or cukes, etc.

For a wine (if you drink) a shiraz or red zinfadel

Happy AnniversaryCooking question. Im preparing a romantic meal and need advice for the meat.?
A nice and simple marinade of red wine, some salt, pepper, olive oil, and garlic (preferably fresh but garlic powder works in a pinch). Then simply saute it in a pan on your stove top. Although I still prefer the grill. Make a little couscous and place the steak and veggie on top and it makes an easy yet filling meal.
broil the steaks to preferred doneness.

top with hollandaise or Bearnaise sauce

top that with pieces of lobster.

    twice baked potatoes

    asparagus with garlic and butter

    warm dinner rolls

chocolate covered strawberries and champagne for dessert

    in bed

    Have FUN!!!
For the meat you could season the way you like, drizzle on some olive oil, wrap in tin foil and bake at like 250 to 300 for a while. check the middle for doneness to your liking. For desert the best is choc. covered strawberries!!!
Let's see...you could rub the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides and saute them in butter until it's nicely seared on one side. Then flip them over and cook them to your liking. I love medium rare. Serve with your favorite steak sauce or just add a pat of butter on top of it when you flip it over, sprinkle some freshly minced parsley on top and serve immediately. If you like your steak a little spicy, rub a little cayenne pepper with the salt and pepper before cooking the steaks.

For the sides, try some asparagus. Fill a plate with asparagus and line them up in a single layer. Sprinkle some water on them and microwave them for 2 minutes. They should be perfectly done. Melt some butter in a saucepan. Add some freshly squeezed lemon juice, some Dijon mustard and season to taste with salt and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined. Pour over asparagus. Garnish with some lemon zest.

And how about some parmesan cheese mashed potatoes? Clean potatoes, peel them (or not if you like the skins), cut them up into quarters and put them in a pot of cold salted water. Cover pot, bring pot to a boil, let potatoes boil for about 20 minutes or until a knife can be inserted partially into one of the quarters without no or little effort. Drain water from potatoes, bring pot back to stove and mash potatoes with a potato masher until it's the consistency that you want. Add a stick of butter and put potatoes over butter to melt. Once melted, mix with wooden spoon to combine. Add milk or cream to potatoes and mix again.. Add parmesan cheese, sour cream and ground black pepper and mix again.

For dessert, how about some chocolate pudding cupcakes. Make some chocolate cupcakes, some chocolate pudding and some chocolate sauce by melting some of your favorite chocolate in a metal bowl over a pot of simmering (not boiling) water. To assemble, cut off the tops of each of the cupcakes, fill with pudding, put top back on, garnish with chocolate sauce and dust with powdered sugar, if you wish. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

I hope this helps. I wish you a very happy one year anniversary! Happy cooking!
forget the steaks, save them for the BBQ..go for shrimp...you can boil them ahead of time put em in the fridg.to chill and then you and dip them in COCKtail sauce and feed them to each other..no mess no clean up more time for fun..don;t forget the candles...congratulations on your first anniversary
A simple marinade of 1 cup ketchup and 1 cup red wine is delicious. Season the steaks first and then put them in the marinade. You can grill some vegetables, in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar, (no corn it gets stuck in your teeth and that not romantic.) Make some homemade mash potatoes. and strawberries and whip cream for dessert. Just save some whip cream for later!
put a little oil or marinade in skillet, water and vinegar. put whatever spices you like on top. continue to turn meat. as the liquid cooks out, the steak will begin to brown. cook until it is the way you like it.

    FRIED STEAK WITH HERBS

    2 slices fillet steak

    3 tbsp oil

    mixed herbs

    garlic salt

This method is for 1 piece of steak. It must be repeated with the second piece of steak. Do not add extra oil.

Take the steak and cut thin scores in it. Do this on both sides. Heat pan over medium heat and add 2 tbsp of oil. In a skillet, fry steak until brown.

Mix the herbs with the rest of the oil. Add 1/4 of the oil mixture. Turn over steak; it should sizzle.

Add herbs to the other side and the same amount of oil. Mix on this side.

One side of the steak herb mix takes 30-40 seconds. Flip after this time and do other side.

Repeat steps 1-8 with next piece of steak.

NOTE: Oil in herb mixture can be omitted from the recipe. Just sprinkle over herbs and rub in.

    CLASSIC STEAK DIANE

4 pieces fillet steak 1/4 inch think

    1 oz (25 g) butter

    2 tbs oil

    worcestershire sauce

    2 tbs lemon juice

1 1/2 tbs finely chopped or grated onion

    2 tbs chopped parsley

Heat butter and oil. Fry steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan and keep hot. Add worcestershire sauce to butter and oil in the pan, then add lemon juice and warm through. Add onion and parsley and cook slowly for 1 1/2 minutes. Spoon sauce over steaks and serve immediately.

As for romantic ideas, I'd say go with the flow. Don't plan anything other than the meal and the setting. Go with whatever you guys feel like. Its your first anniversary, celebrate making that year with hard work from both of you. Not many out there can make it that far.
If there strip or port house the only way I know is to cook them on a grill either a gas grill or a oven grill. as for the rest of the meal not thing goes with steak like twice backed potatoes' a great salad' corn on the cob Glass of wine and for desert chess cake with cherries. that should do it for at least 10 years
    Burn the steaks.

    Undercook the potatoes.

Forget to cook any other veggies.

Put a head of lettuce, 3 big tomatoes and a cucumber in a large bowl.

Then make a sign to hang around your neck

    ';DESSERT';
    Steak %26amp; Spinach Roll-Up Roast

    Serves 4

Serve a salad with this delicious meat %26amp; veggie combo and you've got one of the easiest meals ever.

    8 slices bacon

    1 to 1 1/2-pound beef flank steak

    3/4 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning

    1/4 tsp salt

1 10-oz package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained

2 Tbsp fine dry bread crumbs

    1/2 tsp dried thyme, crushed

    Dash salt

    Pre-heat oven to 375F.

ln a large skillet cook bacon over medium heat for a few minutes just until brown but not crisp. Remove from skillet; drain on paper towels. Set aside.

Score both sides of steak by making shallow diagonal cuts at 1-inch intervals in a diamond pattern. Place steak between two pieces of plastic wrap or waxed paper. With a meat mallet pound steak into a roughly 12x8-inch rectangle. Remove plastic wrap (duuh) and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp of the lemon-pepper seasoning and the 1/4 tsp salt. Arrange bacon lengthwise on steak.

For the stuffing combine spinach, bread crumbs, thyme, the remaining l/4 tsp lemon-pepper seasoning, and the dash salt. Spread over bacon.

Starting from a short side, roll up the steak and secure with cooking twine. Roast for about 12 minutes for medium doneness, more or less to taste.
You have to BBQ a good steak. There is really no other way to prepare it.

But, if you do not have access to a BBQ, you can try Beef Pot Pie, Shepherds Pie, or Beef and Biscuits or stew, (YUM).

    Old-Fashioned Beef Stew

birds sometimes shake when they are stressed . However when is the last time the vet was seen ? you need to find a good avian vet and have the lorikeet seen . It is important . just make sure that you dont have the cage in a draft it could be cold . do you have the cage in a drafty area ? check that first and if nothing changes take the bird to the vet .I have just recently purchase a lorikeet need some advice?
Kate M has answered your question well. It's not unusual for a bird to ';fluff'; as it's called, but not excessively.

The vet can tell you if his skin might be too dry. Or he may have another condition you may be unaware of. Regardless, take him in to the vet.

  • We want to start a organic burger restaurant in a small town do any one have any advice?

I am a former chef and never had my own place but opened a few for others, I would suggest, pick a location, see what the locals like, do a survey, just stand out on the street and ask would they go for a place like yours and what do they like or expect in a good burger.

Then source your ingredients, find a good organic, no hormone, quality beef supplier, keep it simple, good ingredients, find a bakery that will make a good whole grain bun or pita for you, then make the garnishes as good and simple as possible, if you complicate things, your going to have problem, make them fresh or as fresh as possible and always be consistant. Even with things like fries, home made, in a good quality oil like peanut or canola and sea salt for the flavour and health benefits, or oven fries done in a flash oven and season lightly.

Good Luck and any other pointers let me known, I worked all over Canada, resort in Montego Bay Jamaica, and hotels in Singapore and Tokyo Japan. We want to start a organic burger restaurant in a small town do any one have any advice?
If you are starting an organic burger restaurant, you are most likely going to attract health-oriented customers. So to keep the menu in sync with your organic burger idea, make sure that the other items you will be serving are also healthy. For instance, instead of offering a side of french fries with the burger, try something healthier like baked sweet potato ';fries'; or a mixed green salad. Also, make sure to offer healthy desserts, like frozen vanilla yogurt topped with fresh berries and a light drizzle of chocolate syrup. Also make sure to offer as many organic foods as possible. If organic is too expensive to offer, try local food. Make sure that you also offer vegetarian options like veggie burgers. Well I hope I helped you somewhat! Good luck with the business if you do start it!We want to start a organic burger restaurant in a small town do any one have any advice?
We eat organic beef all the time now, its a good idea. I suggest that you combine burgers with other organic and natural food. You will need vegetarians as customers to make enough money. Think of all the Vegan/meat eating mixed couples you know - you would get a lot of business.
if its a small town make sure you have enough customers who eat that stuff

Why can't superstars like Michael Vick get better advice/guidance from the people around him?

I mean, If I am his agent, I need to protect my income, which means protecting my client from doing anything that would jeopardize his career. Why isn't his family or his business associates protecting him from getting in these situations? I'm sure some of them knew about the dogfighting. I really don't want to make this a race issue, but it's hard not to. Who is giving this man advice, other than his posse? Why can't superstars like Michael Vick get better advice/guidance from the people around him?
Apparently no one. It's quite sad actually, since all the people around him tend to be ';Yes men';. They are only there to please him.

Where is his mother would be a better question. Why can't superstars like Michael Vick get better advice/guidance from the people around him?
He has grown up poor and followed the wrong crowd. That's all he knows. Can't change him. He's probably still surrounded by the wrong people.
You can lead a rock to water, but you can't make it drink.
Ghetto athletes hire ghetto agents so who is going to advise who? No one wants to admit it but it is the truth in most cases. Prove me wrong, in the meantime, for those of you afraid to ';appear racist';, just give me the thumbs down.
All the good advice in the world isn't going to help anyone if the refuse to follow it. You can't force someone to make good decisions, they have to do that on their own.
Unfortunately, agents, sponsors, the public......give them all the incentive to do what ever they want. This is not the first time Vick has been in trouble, but it is the only major one to catch up to him. He probably had agents, friends, attorneys, sponsors, boosters help him out before. But, this time the crime was so serious, nobody wanted to touch it or be associated with him, which is why he got left out in the cold.
I think the better question is: Why don't they listen to the good advice they give? They've got their agents, coaches, team owners, and people that the teams and the NFL hire to try to keep these guys from making bad decisions. With all those people trying to steer them in the right direction, they must really have to fight hard to go the wrong way like they do.
Advice only goes so far. Look at the world today. People do what they want when they want. Many do not consider the consequences for there actions. Or think that nothing bad will ever happen to them. ie get caught or injured. You can talk a mans ear off, about right and wrong, but at the end of the day only your jaw hurts.
Its not that he can't get better advic. its that he will not listen. People like Vick, Michael Jackson, Paris Hilton, and others have so much money they start to believe there own hype, they think the rules do not apply to them.
It is well known in The Falcons circle that Vick does not, nor ever have, hung with his teammates. Sure, they're friends and all but they do NOT hang out.

It's not the fact that people weren't giving him advice it's the fact that he wouldn't listen!!

The fact that he spent so much time outside of the team should have been a red flag to begin with.

I am getting a divorce and I am going to have to start fresh somewhere new with nothing. Advice Please.?

I followed my husband to Georgia for a job he wanted, I have been here for four months and I am yet to find anything for myself job wise in the market. I found out this weekend that he wants to be with someone else, it is someone he had an affair with just last year. I am left with no choice but to go back home to live with my parents and start over again there. I have been with him for 7 years now and I don't know how to do this. Someone please help!I am getting a divorce and I am going to have to start fresh somewhere new with nothing. Advice Please.?
A new start is always a challenging task but u have to do it. Noble persons say 'Trust in God and do the right'. Remember it.

http://www.reviewlocator.com/reviews/sur鈥?/a>I am getting a divorce and I am going to have to start fresh somewhere new with nothing. Advice Please.?
Its very easy. As soon as you get back to your parents, you can either

    1. Register at your nearest college, and try to get yourself a degree

    2. If you already have a degree, try getting a job.

    3. Take life one day at a time, and do not try to rush it.

    4. On days when you do not feel like even getting out of bed because you feel so depressed and miserable, force yourself to get out of bed, get dressed and get out of the house. Even if you have no where to go, go to the mall and window shop. Dont allow yourself to wallow in self pity. Good luck
Hunny, relax. Start over, forget him he is a loser, and when he sees your success he will feel stupid. God exalts the humble. Get a makeover, do your hair, tone your body, get a new BETTER wardrobe. If your living with your parents, browse the web for job opportunities in your depart of study. If its in another state, then start it, you never know. It can be a fresh start, experience. You will meet someone, better, and will know how to treat a women and wife and MOST OF ALL KEEP his VoWs! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
having been through an almost exact same situation, heres my advise. move away! go back home get your finances in order, then move somewhere youve always wanted to go and bring NOTHING with you from your former life. after i split from my wife i stayed in the same town and had constant reminders of my old life with my ex. going somewhere and making new friends and having a new environment will help in ways i cant even begin to tell you about.
    you know what?

its easy if u have your parents there to fall back on.

definatly move back in with your parents.

after that find a job and join some social hobbies. like if u r into art, join an art group.. if u r into fitness.. join a fitness group. this way you would make friends who enjoy the same things you do.

i know rebuilding your life starting over is abit hard but i found it was easier than i thought because i had my parents there. the hardest part was making new friends and groups all over again.
Just being with your parents who love you will be a big help. Just take it one day at a time and all well be fine. Good luck.
I'm sorry it happened to you.Once you go home and take some time things will get better.Good luck.
watch the movie THE SECRET.........ull have a great life.....n ur ex will beg u to come back m sure
What a jerk...really. Anyhow please see this as a blessing. You sound as if you don't have any children and that you are quiet young. Have you gone to college? If not then you should look into it? If you did go to college perhaps grad school? Whatever you do you lift your head up and don't let it break you.

I had a similar situation like yours. I was married for about 7 years and he told me that he wanted out, because he wanted to enjoy his life. We just recently relocated to NY. We have a child. I cried for a couple days, but gathered myself and child and packed my belongings. He drove me from NY to Florida. My throat was in a knot because I held all those tears inside until I reached my destination. I moved on and never asked him to reconsider his decision. Whenever I had the need I would call my friends/family and hang out with them. They would help me sooo much! I not once called him to come home. He was the one that called me after a few weeks and I told him he made his decision. He came riding his white horse back into town and I took him back..only because I had no education and a child. I found out he was with another woman and apparently he got tired of her. I went back to college and before graduating I left him and dated someone else....we had many problems. It wasn't like I left him just like that. I did try my best to repair our marriage. But it was ultimaletely broken...As karma would have it, he loved me for 2 years after our relationship was over...but like R Kelly says ';When a woman's fed up';.....

Please keep your head up all will be fine in the end.

    Good luck!
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. My own mother did. She had a girl who is my half sister and it wasn't easy. He cheated on her and then wanted nothing to do with her or his own child. It's unbelievable how a man can just turn on you like that when many times the woman hasn't done anything deserving of such a crushing blow. Well, it's not going to be easy. At least you have your parents to assist you - my mother did not. I don't know how she did it. But, she then remarried my dad who also cheated on her but she stayed with them and now they are elderly. My dad is also a no goodnick - but I love him because he's my dad - what can I say. My mother in law had a husband who died and then she remarried a drunkard child molester. I really don't know how we as women make these bad picks - but it's like a man can seem like a dream come true and then his brain just snaps and he turns insane. I don't understand it at all. Just remember, unless you have cheated on him and done some really bad things to him in the past - this is not your fault and things can be better with someone else. There are countless stories of people I know too - who divorced and things went truly well the second time around. Wow - I just prayed for you and I hope you will consider getting with a church out there since they can become like a second family and provide you with many resources and assistance since churches are generally connected with job fairs, unemployment assistance, and many other forms of assistance to help in your time of need. It's also a great place where you can help others in a similar situation when things do go better for you. My best friend - her hubby killed himself and was a druggard, drunkard and a cheater. But, now she's completely happy with a old connection from high school - happily married for many years. Get connected - you just don't know who might be remembering you. There are a gazillion ways to connect with old high school and college friends and you really should do that as well. When you're more settled you can get involved with park district programs - where you might meet someone with similar interests as well. You're going to be fine - you are strong - you are a woman - that means you're stronger than you realize and have more guts and power to heal and move on than most men.

  • I am 13 & want to become a lawyer. Is there any advice that you can give me that will help me in the future?

I know that to become a good lawyer you need to be able to have the ability to communicate well. I can communicate with people, but I wouldn't necessarily say that I am too good at it. Is there a way I can get better at this?

Also, my dream is to go to Stanford. I know it's kind of too much to hope for, but I have straight A's in school and I think I might have a chance.

I would really appreciate any advice that anyone could offer to me; I know I am a little too young but I think it is good to get a head start on things.I am 13 %26amp; want to become a lawyer. Is there any advice that you can give me that will help me in the future?
Nice that you're starting young. And you're right, communication skills are important.

Good grades are just a basic starting point. A lot of schools want to know that you're ';human.'; What do you do for recreation and volunteer work? Do you demonstrate an interest in the law with any activities?

Also, don't pick subjects based on what you think law schools are looking for (i.e. don't major in Pre-Law in college). Law schools will notice when you're just trying to do what you think will please them a lot of them won't appreciate that very much. They do want to see an active, clear, and original thinker. I recommend majoring in Philosophy.I am 13 %26amp; want to become a lawyer. Is there any advice that you can give me that will help me in the future?
You are 13 years old. I was still playing with dolls and dreaming of all sorts of careers. In my opinion you are reseaching way too soon, (have FUN...Play, Socialize with excellent kids, , This is your one and only life on Earth! work hard at things you truly enjoy!!!) but it is great that you are so curious and want to learn, just MAKE SURE YOU ARE DOING SO FOR YOURSELF AND NOT TO SATISFY ANYONE ELSE. I wanted to be a teacher at your age, then a vet at 15, then a teacher again at 17. I taught school for 25 years. Keep researching all your options for fun, GO FOR WHAT YOU ARE TRULY INTERESTED IN for your career. You will work for a huge part of your life and you are (trust me!!) going to want to LOVE WHAT YOU DO!!! Don't be a lawyer and go to STtanford just because it sounds good.

Good luck and best wishes....Have FUN!!
Study hard in school, you need to be able you can learn and learn quickly. Do some public speaking whenever you can, speak in front of peers, teachers, parents, etc. Get involved in the community, join a club or two. You want to be well rounded so get into a sport or two, academic club, and some community organization. This way you will understand different people and have lots of experiences. Perfect practice makes perfect so practice what you are weak at and get some feedback.

Talk to your parents, guidance councelor and teachers about your goals so they can help... visit the bar and lawyer websites... talk to folks... shadow a lawyer if allowed.

    Best of luck.
Yeah they shouldnt be allowed to drop out because if they are feelin ';tired'; one day they can ';skip school'; then after they get too far behind.... they will drop out....and NO DREAM BIG!!!!!!!!!!

I heard this saying that goes....SHOOT FOR THE MOON.....if you dont get there you will land on one of the stars...... CLOSER THEN YOU WERE..... so yeah keep your goals.....

paralegal certificate maybe to get some basic knowledge of law.
All the evidence is in his left shoe.
My advice- if you don't get into Stanford, your life isn't over. College is college, just get into one with a law program if the Ivy Leagues won't accept you.

Second- my boyfriend just told me about his friend who is a lawyer. His friend defended a child pronographer and got the scum bag off the charges. If you're going into law, you will be faced with not only getting the righteous what they deserve, but you might also have to defend criminals.
Here is something you may want to plan for now. With top notch schools like Stanford, it is very competitive to be accepted at the school. Straight A grades isn't enough to cut it anymore. The schools want to see a well rounded education and life outside of school. Not only will they want top grades, they will want to see what you do with yourself outside of the classroom with extra curricular activities. Participate in school sports, participate in school clubs, and especially important, participate in charitable causes. This was told to me by a friend, who both her and her husband are Stanford alumni, and her father was a professor at Stanford. Even with their ';legacy';, being alumni, their daughters are not guaranteed acceptance into the school without considering their grades and their extra curricular activities.
Pay attention in your English classes so that you learn how to write effectively. The ability to communicate via the written word is as important to an attorney as their speaking abilities. Certainly Stanford Law School is an excellent choice but there are many other choices that are available to you as well. Don't discount those before you start. And, most importantly...you have to get your undergraduate degree first! So you must maintain your focus and direction for the next 8 years. But remember, you can't ignore your social responsibilities either...many undergraduate schools want to see something more than just good grades.
Good for you! With this kind of ambition, I am sure you can be anything you want and go to a great school in order to get there. And you do NOT have to be outspoken to be a good lawyer. There are all types of lawyers--you don't have to be a trial lawyer, prosecutor, or criminal defender who rants and raves in court.

Here's the best advice for you, since you're so young: READ!! If you don't like to read, you may be in trouble because law school is all about reading and writing (and so is being a lawyer). Reading a lot helps you be a good writer because it expands your vocabulary and exposes you to great writers. You will need to ace the LSAT to get into Stanford, and it is based largely on reading/writing skills. You might even start taking practice LSAT exams now; they will be like second nature to you in 10 years when your future depends on it.

Secondly, just go to Stanford's website and read their admissions criteria. Then spend the next 5-10 years making sure you become their ideal candidate. You'll have to stand out--study abroad, learn another language, spend your summers doing internships that are related, volunteer, and be active in your community.

    Good luck!!
Good for you for thinking of this now.

The only advice I'm qualified to give you is this:

ALWAYS be nice to your secretary and to all the other support staff members in whatever law firm you end up joining.

Don't lose touch with your feminine side. There are many female attorneys who seem to think they have to dress like men and act like men in order to get ahead. Not true, so don't do it! (That's probably a thing of the past anyway).

Don't sign up for Arrogance 101. This is a class many attys have attended, and it shows. Take a pass on that one!

As for your communication skills, it may depend somewhat on what area of law you decide to go into. You're probably thinking of litigation - I don't know that you need to be especially glib if you decide to work in intellectual property!
First and foremost you have to be a good student willing to sacrifice your free time for study. That's a tall order for most teenagers.
join debate, speech. but keep an open mind. something else might come along that interests u more. u might change ur mind numerous times before u settle on something.
I do agree with you that it's probably a bit too early to make a definite decision about the direction of your career. However, it also makes sense to develop broader skills that you might need for that and many other professions. My best friend is a lawyer, and from my observations you will do well if you:

    a) work to improve your memory. In law school and after, you'll need to memorise innumerable statutes and cases. Buy memory tapes, read more etc

    b) definitely work on your writing skills. On your bar exam, you'll need to write an essay, and it won't be easy.
you can do what they said, and also try having an internship at a law firm when you are older
Learn to lie very convincingly. And,Christina, Stanford is not an Ivy League school last time I checked.
13 is NOT too young. It's a good age to know what you want in life. Continue to pursue your dream and make sure that it is what you want, what you enjoy, and not what you're told you want. Make sense? There is a lot of reading involved in the law profession so develop a love of knowledge gained through reading. Join, or start, a debate team in your middle school and learn to argue persuasively. Brush up on your vocabulary skills and practice your inductive and deductive thinking by playing logic games which make up a large part of the LSAT. Make sure that, starting now, you become a well-rounded individual through high school and college so you can be that same well-rounded individual as a professional.
    get good grades.
We'll boil this down into a simple checklist:

    (1) Do as well as you can in school and get good grades.

    (2) Stay out of trouble with the law.

    (3) Be involved in your school and your local community -- that'll help you get into a good college like Stanford.

    (4) Take as many writing courses as you can to improve your written communication skills.

    (5) When you get into college, join your local Toastmasters organization to learn effective public speaking from people who have lots of experience.

    (6) For your first four years in college, major in something that will help you do a job other than being a lawyer, just in case you find being a lawyer isn't for you -- I recommend management.

    (7) Spend the money on one of those two-day seminars on how to prepare for the LSAT -- a lawyer I know tanked the first time he took it but did much better the second time around.

    (8) Try to get work as a clerk at a law firm during your summer breaks -- that'll give you a REALLY good look at what working as a lawyer is like.

Pursue your dream, and best of luck!
First of all, to become a lawyer, it is common to get a 4 year undergraduate degree from an accredited university (or at least be working on your degree) before you apply to law school. Some common majors are political science, psychology, and criminal justice. It is in those four years of college that you will probably decide whether or not you want to pursue law. But don't be surprised if your career choices change a few times. In junior high, I wanted to be a radiologist. In high school, I wanted to be a therapist. And now, I want to be a teacher. Some people decide early what they want to do, and do it. Typically, however, people change their mind several times. Remember though, it's never too early to think about the future, and it's good that you are! It is true that for this field of study, you need very good communication skills, and depending on what type of law you plan on pursuing, very good public speaking skills. Most people, at some time or another, have a fear of public speaking. You are not alone! I still get queasy thinking about it. But it does get better in time, and the more you are exposed to it, the better it will get. Take any and all classes that allow you to practice speaking. Debate is a good class to take. Also participate in class discussions as much as possible to get used to it. Becoming an effective communicator takes time and practice, just like anything else. Once you get into college, get some experience in the field. Go volunteer or shadow at an office or firm. This is important, because depending on your major, your classes may not give you much insight into what the field of law is all about. Internships are also good. And lastly, one very important thing...if you have a dream, pursue it! Never think that it is unattainable. You will never know until you try. Stanford is very competitive, but work hard, and know that it is possible. Don't let go of your dreams. Best wishes and good luck to you!
You are never too young, make sure you take all your classes seriously. And this path requires sacrifice, its a lot of schooling for a big dream. Be proud and go for it

I was looking for advice on private health care cover in Australia?

Even though Im young and dont have any medical problems, should I choose options for optical, heart problems, hip and knee replacement, physiotherapy, hospital accommodation and extra dental anyway? Just in case my eye sight changes or if something out of the ordinary happens? Isnt that what its for, or am I taking it too far?

Im not sure I understand the point of private health care for me if the only thing i can see me using is maybe some dental 3 times a year.I was looking for advice on private health care cover in Australia?
the choice of cover you need is totally your decision, but I would take dental, optical and ambulance as extras with which ever cover you decide to take. I select is a company that can help you decide which cover you need, obviously, you dont need hip and knee replacement, so, look up I select on line and give them a call.

Can anyone give me advice on the guidelines of blood sugar levels?

    Hi all

I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant and have just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes I'm doing some self monitoring for the next 3 days.

Can anyone advise what my levels should be before I eat and 2 hours after I eat.

ThanksCan anyone give me advice on the guidelines of blood sugar levels?
I had gestational diabetes this past pregnancy. The GD portion of my pregnancy was managed by a high-risk pregnancy specialist, that I saw once, and then I checked in with a trained nurse with my blood sugar levels. The rest of my pregnancy was taken care of by my CNM and her backup dr.

I was told to check my blood sugar levels first thing in the morning and then 2 hrs after each meal, no checking before a meal. They did not treat with insulin unless the numbers 2 hours after a meal were ofter 135 or higher. However, once they were treating, they'd lower it to be consistently below 120. Some doctors will want insulin if the numbers are above 120. For fasting, I think they treated if it was often 105 or higher, and then would use insulin to keep it consistently below 95.

Most cases of gestational diabetes can be managed by diet. Have you seen a nutritionist? If not, you should; that could be a big help. In my case, I still required insulin at breakfast and supper, but that is not the norm.

Some tips to help keep your levels good. Insulin resistance is usually highest in the morning, so breakfast is often the worst time. Don't overdo the carbs at breakfast, especially sugar. If you eat sugary breakfast cereal, your numbers may be awful. But, if you eat ww toast with peanut butter, they might be perfectly fine. You're better off eating less more frequently, because it keeps your blood sugar on more of an even keel. I was eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. Exercise can help keep blood sugar levels down. Try to be getting 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day. But, build up gradually if you aren't there yet.Can anyone give me advice on the guidelines of blood sugar levels?
Your doctor or diabetic counselor will advise you as to the glucose numbers that are right for you. In a very general sense, fasting numbers or before meal numbers will ideally be in a target range of 90-130. 2 hours after you eat below 180, but high enough to stay out of the hypoglycemic (under 70) range, is generally the target. Patients vary in many ways so the exact numbers your health care provider will give you may be more specific. These numbers are the ones recommended by the American Diabetes Association. I had Gestational Diabetes with my 4th baby. While high blood glucose numbers are to be avoided as much as possible, I had more trouble keeping my blood glucose numbers up to the target numbers. I was able to use the diet I was given combined with glucose monitoring to manage my glucose numbers fairly well and did not need to take insulin.
your dr should have told you what to watch for and when to call, as well as set you up with a GD counselor/dietician......every dr is different with the numbers, so call them and ask if they didn't tell you.
2 hours after eating no higher than 120.

Take a look at this page and scroll down, there is a chart to help you.

    http://www.nichd.nih.gov/publications/pu鈥?/a>
A rough guide ive seen is

    Before eatting not above 95

2 hours after eatting not above 120

But id speak to your doctor to confirm it may be differant.

I have been thinking about becoming a first responder and need some advice?

I have been thinking about becoming a first responder but I was wondering if anyone had some adivce about what it is like, how to get started, or anything else important. Thanks!I have been thinking about becoming a first responder and need some advice?
To become a certified First Responder really varies per state, such as in my state of NJ first responders are slowly being phased out to become EMT-basics. The best way to start is join a first aid squad and have them put you through the training program, that way they pay for the class and help with CEU's (Continued Education Units).

It's definitely a good experience as long as you are careful with your squad politics, those are my personal opinions but all said and done, I would recommend you try becoming a first responder because the training is about 40 hours and does not expire where as the EMT certification is 140 hours and you need to re-cert every 3 years.

best of luck and feel free to contact me with any further questions,I have been thinking about becoming a first responder and need some advice?
    Hi,

For packers2188, can you tell me where to get the First Responder course in NJ? My volunteer organization actually offers the course, but only twice a year and I don't want to wait that long. Any ideas where I can do this in NJ?

    Thanks

First off, go to your nearest American Heart Association training facility (find it at AHA.org) and get the BLS (Basic Life Support Certification). Second, look for search for a Emergency Medical Technician school or a junior college that offers the EMT course. Third, you will have to go and take the NREMT (National Registry) Test for your license. Then you have to get your local licensing through your state or county EMS (Emergency Medical Services) agency. Then you are ready to hit the streets in your brand new uniform and shiny ambulance to pretend like you know what you are doing. :) Be advised, you learn most of your skills OJT (On the JOB), and get ready to learn a bunch of crazy sounding acronyms. :)
As previously stated, it all depends on your state. In NC, all of our local community colleges teach the First Responder( although it will eventually be phased out) through Paramedic courses. They are taught through the Continuing Education department. So, call your local community college or tech and ask about the course. The one in NC is only 40 hours long, however, you must recert every years.

Joining a local first aid service or local ambulance service/rescue squad will be a great help. You can also call them and inquire about the regulations and things of the sort in your case. They can also inform you of laws in your state governing first responders.

As far as what to expect, there is one thing that you learn in emergency services: Expect the unexpected. You could be dispatched for soemone that fell and be doing CPR 5 minutes later, or you could be called out for a person not breathing and you get there and they are sitting up talking to you. The best advice I can give you is to make sure that you do what you are supposed to, when you are supposed to, and KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!!!!!! Take the Hep B vaccines and all other vaccines that are offered. Never assume that you know someone in a time of emergency or depression, and never be scared to admit that you cant handle something and call for help. If you feel unsafe, leave. You cant help someone if you yourself are a victim.

Good luck in your endeavor and I hope that you have as wonderful a career as I have. In the end, its worth it.

Should you give practical advice to a younger co-worker who keeps screwing up their life?

Should I dispense wisdom and practicality to a much younger co-worker, who keeps making the same mistakes I made as a kid? Or should I butt out and let them live their own life, hoping they will learn from their painful mistakes? I want to say something, yet I don't want to preach. What is the proper way to go about this? Thanks in advance.Should you give practical advice to a younger co-worker who keeps screwing up their life?
Since this is a co-worker, I say no. Your co-worker could resent it and it would become an uncomfortable work environment.

However, if you consider this person a friend, then you might be able to broach the subject depending on the circumstances. Tread lightly when dispensing advice and back off at the first indication that the advice is not well-received.Should you give practical advice to a younger co-worker who keeps screwing up their life?
i would maybe say '' look, your heading for a fall if you continue down this path, maybe try to straighten out and see a therapist ok ? '' - then i would straighten my tie and pat their back and wish them a '' nice day ''.

if they ignored this and continued anyway at least i tried my best.
Honestly, don't give unsolicited advice. Most see it as very annoying.

However, if the co-worker asks, you can offer words of wisdom, as long as it is done in a non-judgmental manner.
yes, older people should help guide the young
I have been there several times and done both. It depends on the maturity level. Some people just have to learn on their own, and some take the advise to heart. I would just give examples if you really want to say something, I.E. the same thing happened when I was around your age...etc...
b-u-t-t is a censorship worthy word?

On to the subject...if you're not being asked for advice, don't offer it. And think of it this way: would you know what you know now if you hadn't done what you did back then?
No, not unless they ask for it.
Never give advice unless specifically asked to do so...
give he/she the advice, a pray that it will sink in. If it doesn't then let be, they have to grow up sometimes.

Can I get your advice about my tax return?

I have about $275.00 in tax receipts for charitable donations. Should I claim all of them for my 2008 return, or should I save some for my 2009 return? The reason I ask is I am going to be in school for the majority of 2009 and my income will be very low.

Not sure about Canadian taxes, but in US you need a lot more than $275 in charitable donations to use them as a deduction..try IRS.org for answers (for US)

I get nervous whenever I speak in public. Is there any advice to loosen my anxiety?

Public speaking is not one of my strengths. Even if the subject is easy to articulate, I always get nervous when speaking to a crowd. I even get nervous when the crowd is 4-10 people. Are there tricks you guys know of that can improve my confidence in public speaking.I get nervous whenever I speak in public. Is there any advice to loosen my anxiety?
I have the exact same problem. I get extremely nervous when I have to give a speech. I worry about it a week or two in advance! Of course, I looked up a few tips on how to overcome (or supress) your anxiety and fear of public speaking.

Know everything you're going to say. Write it out, repeat it, know it! It doesn't help at all if you don't rehearse or don't have half a clue what you're talking about. If you have a video or digital camera laying around, try recording yourself. This will difinitely help you know exactly what you'd sound like when giving your speech. It will also help you analyze your weaknesses and give you time to improve. Practice makes perfect. Improve your weaknesses and this will give you the confidence you need.

If it is a school related speech, trying using visual aid. This will help you along while you speak and guide you if you forget or get lost.

Keep eye contact with the audiance. Don't read from notecards with your head faced down half the time. If you are not comfortable with looking into the eyes of your viewers, try looking at their hairline. This will appear as if you have direct eye contact and perhaps not make you so nervous.

Be confident!! Don't have that annoying monotone voice and blab on and on. Use facial expressions and gestures to capture your crowds attention. Make your speech as clear as possible and know when to stop.

All in all, don't worry about it. Public speaking is one of the most common fears. I still have a public fear of speaking and try avoiding it when necessary. Hope these few tips have helped you in some way or another.I get nervous whenever I speak in public. Is there any advice to loosen my anxiety?
I'm also nervous when doing public speaking and for years I would panic whenever I had to do a presentation or anything that involved me standing up and talking. I think that the only way to get around this is to believe in yourself. We are only afraid because we think that we will screw up and humiliate ourselves. Just tell yourself that you don't care about if you screw up. Think about it. Why should you care about screwing up in front of a few people who probably aren't paying attention anyways?

Advice from cat owners. If you keep a mixture of indoor/outdoor cats?

Are some of your cats purely indoor cats? Is it hard to keep them safely inside the house? Do you notice any difference in their personalities. For example, the outdoor cat's being less needy than the indoor ones. Thanks.Advice from cat owners. If you keep a mixture of indoor/outdoor cats?
Cats that live indoors live longer, healthier lives. Statistically, the life span of an indoor cat averages 12 to 14 years, whereas it is only about four years for the indoor-outdoor cat. More than 1 million outdoor cats are killed each year by dogs, traffic, and exposure to disease. If you have indoor and outdoor cats, the ones outside could spread diseases to your indoor cats also.

There are many risks that come with letting your cats roam free outside:

    - Fleas

    - Ticks

    - Dangerous traffic

    - Eating poisonous spiders, insects or plants

    - Attacks from dogs, other cats or wild animals

    - Chemicals or poisons such as pesticides, home garden products and car and motor products

    - Diseases and other illnesses such as Feline Leukemia (FeLV), Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), Feline Herpes Virus (Rhinotracheitis), Feline Distemper, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), rabies, tapeworm, ringworm, heartworm, hypothermia and urinary tract infection

    - Cruel humans who cause harm

    - HuntersAdvice from cat owners. If you keep a mixture of indoor/outdoor cats?
I have 1 indoor cat and 2 outdoor cats.

Jemima(the indoor cat) is very friendly, loving and affectionate. She adores attention and loves to be cuddled. However, whenever there is an opening to the outside world she will go for it, and often we find her waiting at doors or windows. She looks alot more well kept.

Felix and Tiga(the outdoor cats) are friendly, however they are also very independant. They are much more proud, cauious and protective than Jemima, and they are much less likely to need your attention. They also look much less like a typical house cat and more 'feral', if you understand what I mean.

For example, suppose you were sitting down. Jemima would be climbing all over you , wanting to play, whilst Felix and Tiga would sit next to you, just wanting you to rub them behind the ears.
I had a siamese a while ago,he was supposed to be a indoor cat,but we only let him in the garden,as he saw the other 2 cats go out all the time,it obviously frustrated him, that`s why we let him out,but he never ran away.

If your cat is a kitten and you want to keep it indoors then what they don`t know won`t hurt, but if they were used to the outside then you decided to keep it in,then i find that unfair.

    Hope this answers your question.
I would suggest an indoor cat because mine is amazing. My cat is an indoor cat and actually is afraid of outside. My friends cat is purely an outdoor cat and gets into fights with other animals all the time. Her cat even had to get stiches one time. He is very friendly but he also has a very mean side, which my cat does not have a mean bone in her body. Woudlnt you not want the worry of not knowing where your cat is and if it is safe or not? Also, you wouldnt want to declaw your cat if it was an outdoor cat because it would make it harder for the cat to defend itself, which will cause problems when the cat is inside becuase it will scratch up the furniture. And wouldnt you want your cat to be there with you? not outside!
I have one now that wants to go outside and does occasionally sneak out. She was an indoor/outdoor cat before she came to live with me. She is safer inside but I do need to watch for the escape. When she does get outside, she wants back in shortly unless she is sunning in the garden. She was more independent when she had a choice but now she is more affectionate as she has learned what that is since being indoors.

When I first got her and she would run outside, she would bolt across streets and follow me. This was very worrisome as I was always afraid that she would get hit by a car. She did get into some cat fights, but luckily wasn't injured. It is my hope that she will be happy inside and have no desire to go out. She is now at her healthiest since she is mostly indoors and is getting more content with it.
I live with a friend that has an outdoor cat, and I have indoor cats.

I find that her outdoor cat is self sufficient, but comes back every night at the same time for tons of love. Often not letting you sleep for hours until he's finished!

My indoor cats come for love every now and then, but mostly only when they want food.

    They're about the same.

I only have a difficulty keeping one cat inside because he loves the trees too much.
Indoor cats are calmer and more loving. Except for one cat we had when I was little, His name was Scrapper and he was so sweet and loving,he was hit by a person driving a white pickup truck on purpose! That cat killer drove right up into our driveway and hit my cat and backed back out and kept driving in the same direction and he was laughing about it! I was a little girl then but I made up my mind never to let another cat outside on purpose again!
I have 6 purely indoor cats which were all strays ie feral

cats that I rescued. I have no problems with them and their

personalities seem to be the same as when they were outdoors. I would never have an outdoor cat since the first cat I had was hit by a car and I found its remains on the road. That was years ago and I still get tears in my eyes when I think about it!
i have 2 outdoor cats and 1 indoor cat the outside cats are mother and son and allways stick together but very funny when they are in the garden but if i go to the shop/school they will follow me and walk me home, the male cat has even gone for a couple of men who has walked in to my house, and wont let my hubby near me on the settee the other one sits on my knee or any one who sits down.

but the indoor cat stays upstairs allday and only comes down when we goto bed

the outside cats have to be in by dawn which they are
I have 2 indoor cats but I have had outdoor cats in the past, one of my indoor cats loves being close to me and my boyf and will lie and sit on us when he can, the other one just does his own thing and only wants petted sometimes I think the personality depends on the cat itself and not whether its kept indoors or allowed out.
I have one cat a Siamese that must stay inside and i have a tiger cat that goes out there is a difference, the inside cat is much more loving and affectionate than the outside one. It really isn't that hard to keep her inside she actually is afraid of going outdoors which is a good thing.
I have one of each, and yes. Some are purely indoor cats and some aren't. One of my cats we see about 4 times a day when she's hungry, then she's off.. The other just stays indoors all day.
My cat is an indoor and outdoor cat. All the cat's I have every had, they have always been both indoor and outdoor.

first and foremost, you need toactually talk to her. then, when you two are closer, or at least have found some things on common beside the fact that you both are at the same gym, lol, bring her flowers (daisies and yellow roses= friendship, carnations and pink roses=for your mom, white roses=death, red roses=passion, lilies=interest, but not desperate...) and ask her out on a date. GOOD LUCK!!!!Advice from girls in asking a girl out, examples of ways youve been asked out that you liked?
hey! haha well i was in a relationship for 3 years and the way he asked me out was amazing..

he came to where i worked and just randomly asked me a question about something partaining to where i worked and then from then it was small talk about like how i liked my job and different stuff.. nothing tooo personal, and then he asked if i want to go to our schools football game with him the next friday and i said yes, we had alot of fun around our friends so it wasn't weird or awkward and then he asked when he dropped me off at home if i would meet him for dinner sometime so we talked the whole next week we talked at school, or online and the following saturday we went out to eat and to a movie, and he let me pick the movie which i appreciated and then during the movie looked at me and asked if i would be his girlfriend and i said yes :) sorry for the long story but i thought it might help you out

I keep crashing my rc airplane any advice?

I have a mini ultra stick airplane it is very aerobatic but i keep crashing it pleas help.I keep crashing my rc airplane any advice?
You sound like this is your first plane. Correct me if I am wrong by adding 'additional info' to your question.

Very aerobatic is an understatement. We have two of those, and you will have a difficult time learning with this on.

Set it aside. Get the help of experienced pilots. Go to the local club and ask for help. The AMA site has a club finder. http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.鈥?/a>

Get a better beginner plane. A Slow Stick, or something equally trainer-like. Save the crazy-acrobatics for after you have mastered flight control.

  • I am interested in pottery and learning how to throw clay and I need some advice on where to start.?

I also checked out some classes in my area and they are about $200 for a six week course, meeting only once a week. This seems a little pricey to me, but that may be because I don't know what I am talking about. Is it worth it to buy a small wheel, but not have a kiln? What is the best way, including financially, for me to go about starting this as a hobby?I am interested in pottery and learning how to throw clay and I need some advice on where to start.?
I'd suggest taking the class. They'll probably have wheels and a kiln available to use, and I'm sure someone there has some ideas on where to get some used equipment for a lower price. Buying a wheel before buying a kiln is a good idea. Wait until you've developed some creative skills before investing in a kiln. Good luck!I am interested in pottery and learning how to throw clay and I need some advice on where to start.?
Nowadays almost any hobbie costs a lot to get started. if it was me I would take the classes before buying any equipment. Everything will be included when you take the class and you will be able to discuss things with instructor about cost quality, etc. You may find the hobbie isn't for you. In our area sometimes art related courses like potting are offered thru Community Ed. You might contact them if you have Comm Ed in your area. Usually pretty inexpensive costs.

Would you have a baby against medical advice?

Is there anything a doctor could tell you, as far as health risks to yourself because of pregancy, that would impact your decision to have a child?

Would you risk your health to have a baby?Would you have a baby against medical advice?
    Yes. My Mother did.

My mom had a stomach surgery 5 months before she got pregnant with me. My mom and dad had been married 9 years and she never got pregnant. She had that operation (something internal was wrong) and she got staples on the inside of her stomach.

She never planned to have children because the Doctor said there wasn't really a possibility.

5 months after the surgery, when she found out she was pregnant, the Doctor immediately told her to abort the baby. She couldn't do it.

Later, the Doctor told her that if she didn't abort, I only had a 5 % chance of living and that if I did live, she wouldn't.

He said there was a 1% chance we would both survive the pregnancy.

I ended up being born 2 months early - weighed 4 lbs. 12 oz. and dropped to 3 lbs. 5 oz.

I was in the Hospital for 2 weeks until I got back up to my birth weight.

It cost over 1 million dollars for me to be born (our blue cross covered the majority of that, of course) .. but my mom says it was worth every penny :)Would you have a baby against medical advice?
It depends on what the problem is. I dont think anyone could really answe that question for you....it's for you and your partner to decide.

Look at all the people that are told 'no' and go ahead and everything is okay, maybe that cant be said for everyone but like i said depends the problem and your own thoughts and fellings on the matter.

My friend knew her baby had problems and she had him. He didn't survive past 6 months but i know if i asked her now would she make things different, she would say 'hell no!'....she gave him everything she could. He came past every mile stone a doctor said he wouldn't and shes glad she did what she did.

Don't listen to anyone else, it's not them in your situation it's all about you and whats best for you and the baby!

    Good Luck hun!
There are some health risks as to having a child. In some extreme, but rare cases women can die during labor. But an even more likely possibility is Gestational Diabetes and Toxiema (Pre-Eclampsia).Gestational diabetes is a condition in which women without previously diagnosed diabetes exhibit high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes affects 3-10% of pregnancies, depending on the population studied. No specific cause has been identified, but it is believed that the hormones produced during pregnancy reduce a woman's sensitivity to insulin, resulting in high blood sugar levels.Pre-eclampsia is a medical condition where hypertension arises in pregnancy (pregnancy-induced hypertension) in association with significant amounts of protein in the urine. Because pre-eclampsia refers to a set of symptoms rather than any causative factor, it is established that there can be many different causes for the syndrome. However, for the most part, they both go away after pregnancy.

If you need more information www.webmd.com is a good source.
it would depend on the health risk i think. If they said you will die if you get pregnant then i would avoid getting pregnant but if i was already pregnant and they told me there was a problem i couldnt abort it. Interesting question though. Its a tough one i was really luckly to get pregnant quickly so i think i dont realise what some people have to go through to get pregnant so my answer would probably be different if i was like one of them. oh and like someone else just mentioned it would completely depend on if i had other children as well.
I would not intentionally get pregnant against medical advice. If I was already pregnant, I really can't say what I would do, because I've never been in that situation. I imagine it would depend on how old I was, how far into the pregnancy I was, what my relationship with the father was like, and how much of a risk there was (oh and also on whether I had others to care for at the time).
    no i wouldnt.

i had to terminate a planned pregnancy at 7 weeks due to malignancy. the dr told me i could have early 'preventative' treatment, or continue the pregnancy and run a great risk with my life.

this was not an option for me. i have a 9mos old baby girl who i want to raise, and love, and teach, and just be there for her. i dont want the only things she knows about her mummy to be the story's that daddy told her.
All of that would depend on if the baby's father felt prepared to raise the baby alone, if it were to cost me my life. If I knew it could kill me and my child might grow up without a mother I might opt for adoption. I had to go through 13 years of infertility work ups to have my child, I would not trade that or her for anything in this world.
Unless you had a transplant or clear indications of failing health, a doctor is not god. They don't KNOW what will happen in the future and whether or not it will impact the fetus.

Yes, I would risk my health up to a point.
no I have my kids to think of, i wouldnt want to be selfish, and take the chance not being there to raise them.
i would love my child just the same! im not sure about having a baby if i would die though. guess i'll know if i'm ever faced with that situation
Yes, I had a Uterine Rupture and went on to have another baby. My life was very much at risk.
if i was already pregnant, yes, there is nothing that would make me terminate my pregnancy!!
    Uh,,,,no!!

Advice on putting new alloy wheels on car?

If my car has 16'; alloys as standard, could I fit 18'; alloys without having to alter anything?Advice on putting new alloy wheels on car?
Yes as a rule you can go about two sizes bigger, but you'll definetly need to run a low profile tire or it will rub your fender wells. It will probably throw your speedometer off just a couple of miles per hour.Advice on putting new alloy wheels on car?
depends on what kind a car you have, but my car came with 16'; out of dealers i run 18';s and i can put 19';, but the same model car also comes with 18s out of dealer

i drive an vw mk4 jetta gli, depends on what car you have.
It depends on the profile of your tyres.

If you have 55 or 60 profile tyres, you will be able to get lower-profile tyres to keep the same effective rolling radius with larger tyres.

If you already have very low profile tyres (e.g 40 profile) then it is unlikely you will be able to fit a larger-diameter wheel.
it should be ok, make sure the whole wheel including the tyre is the same size as the standard ones or it'll mess up and your speeo wont show the right speed (not good!!)
No. For one thing, you will find the wheels rubbing on the wing when you are on full lock. Secondly, you have to notify your insurers that you have modified your car and also notify the DVLA of any changes to the the manufactures specification. There is a possibility that it can put more strain on your steering rack as well.
    tirerack.com
Most likely you should be fine. Check tirerack.com and size them up. Remember the more weight you add to your wheel then is stock is going to cut into your gas mileage. It will also effect power off the line. That being said good luck I've bought 6 different sets of wheels for my cars and always think it adds a great personal touch.
It all depends upon the wheel dimensions.

The stud pattern must match the cars studs.

The inset of the rim (the measurement between the inner edge of the rim and the centre of the rim) must be the same as standard or else the rim or the tyre may foul against the suspension.

The outset of the rim (the measurement between the outer edge of the rim and the centre of the rim) needs to fit within the wheel arch to stop the tyre fouling the vehicle body.

Non-standard sizes may fir but they will put the wheel bearings under strain.

The tyres would have to be very low profile if the speedometer is to remain accurate. Remember that the bigger the diameter of the tyre the bigger its circumference, so it will take fewer revolutions to cover the same distance as a standard tyre (the distance covered by one revolution of a correctly inflated tyre on a rim under normal load is called the rolling radius).

Speak to an expert company like RipSpeed, they can give you all of the information you need.
If the tyres are any wider you will have to check you can go from lock to lock without the tyre rubbing the wing or inner wing. Also remember that if the circumference of the new wheels and tyres is bigger than that of the old your speedo will be out. If you do fit alloys remember to put ';copper slip'; on the hub flange before pulling up the bolts or nuts.

Advice from mothers who have breastfed please?

I am 37 weeks pregnant, and soon to be a first time mother. I plan on trying to breastfeed and want to know what to expect and what to make it easier. I would really like to be successful at this - I will be pumping also if it makes a difference.

I am scared to death of the pain (I know childbirth is painful, but it is over with quickly, chapped and cracked nipples hang around for awhile)

Any tricks or tips you'd like to offer? Anything you wish you had known before you started breastfeeding?Advice from mothers who have breastfed please?
There are some steps you can take now to help make your breastfeeding experience as smooth as possible. Here's some of my favorite tips:

    1) Consider having a natural, unmedicated delivery. Epidurals are associated with more breastfeeding issues for many reasons, and there's a lot of evidence to support this. See these links:

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200鈥?/a>

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16227311/

    2) If your pregnancy is low risk, you might consider a hospital adjacent or freestanding birth center, or even a homebirth. Studies show that homebirth is as safe or safer for low risk pregnancies as hospital birth, when attended by a trained midwife: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/lifematt鈥?/a> Birth centers are also good options for low risk pregnancies. The fewer interventions you have, the better your chances of having a positive breastfeeding experience. This can also minimize the number of interruptions after the baby is born, which can give you more time to nurse your baby uninterrupted.

    3) Have your baby nurse within an hour of birth - preferably within the first half hour. Research shows that the sucking reflex starts to diminish significantly after the first hour, so getting the baby to the breast within an hour is crucial for developing a good nursing relationship and helping your milk come in faster.

    4) Nurse your baby frequently and on cue. Don't limit their time at the breast. Frequent nursing helps bring your milk in faster. You can also do breast compressions to help your milk come in. Place your hand far back on the breast in a C shape, and move your hand toward the nipple, pressing firmly but not hurting you, like you're massaging it. This helps stimulate the flow: http://kellymom.com/newman/15breast_comp鈥?/a>

    5) Have your baby room in with you, if you're in the hospital, so you can nurse him/her often.

    6) Avoid artificial nipples for the first 4-6 weeks. This can cause nipple confusion, and it will only make breastfeeding more difficult. If you give birth in a hospital, you might want to consider making a sign for your door and your baby's bassinet that says ';No bottles or pacifiers';. Don't assume that hospital staff won't give your baby a bottle or paci if you're breastfeeding. This is another good reason to keep the baby rooming in with you.

    7) Babies' bodies are designed to thrive on colostrum until your milk comes in. Most mothers notice that their milk comes in sooner with each child they have (mine came in on day 2 with my second, as opposed to day 7 with my first). If your milk is still not in after 6 days and your baby has lost more than 10% of his/her body weight, I would contact an IBCLC - international board certified lactation consultant. Your local hospital should have one on staff, and they should be able to help you. If your baby absolutely needs to be supplemented, try to do so with a supplemental nursing system instead of a bottle. This way, the baby will still be stimulating the breast while getting the supplement, and they won't have any nipple confusion from a bottle.

    8) Don't be afraid to take your baby away from visitors/grandparents/friends who are holding and cuddling him, if he/she needs to be fed. Your baby's needs come first. If baby needs to eat, feed him/her.

    9) Newborns are often very lazy and sleepy at the breast, so you might need to stimulate them to wake up a little and nurse. Try pumping their arm in circles, tickling their feet, stripping them down to a diaper and nursing them skin-to-skin, do breast compressions to stimulate the flow and encourage them to suck more, or place a wet cloth on their back (provided it's not too cold where you are).

Be aware that it is very rare for a woman to have truly low milk supply when she is breastfeeding her baby often, on cue, and not limiting your baby's time at the breast. Trying to put your baby on a schedule can make your milk take longer to come in, cause your supply to drop, and contribute to weight gain issues. You can't nurse a newborn baby too much.

Kellymom.com is a great resource for breastfeeding information. There's tons of helpful, evidence-based information there: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/index.html

Dr. Jack Newman also has a lot of info and videos at his website: http://www.drjacknewman.com/

I really like the book ';So That's What They're For!'; It's a great book for expectant and breastfeeding mothers. It's lighthearted, funny, and easy to read, but it's also packed with information: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1593372鈥?/a>

Good luck!Advice from mothers who have breastfed please?
If you your hospital offerslactation help, I would have them come in right after you deliver. The key is to start breastfeeding correctly from the beginning to make sure you do not have any issues other than the tenderness for the first week. You should not feel any toe curling pain, if you do, then something isn't right. I wouldn't pump unless you need to go somewhere because that could make you have an overload of milk. If your hospital offers a breastfeeding class, take it. I know alot of the problems people have is lack of education on breastfeeding. If you run into problems like weight gain, talk to your lactation consultant and the pediatrician. You shouldn't have problems with cracked nipples and all if you are doing it right. Get help and stay with the help, to make sure things go right, it's easy after that. You can also call your local La Leache League to see if there's a meetup group in your area.
Talk to your midwife or hospital about having a consultation with a lactation consultant. Also there are some great breastfeeding books like Breastfeeding by Dr Sears. Breastfeeding is a learned art and it will be so helpful to get someone to teach you how right away, when do do it right it is not painful but rather a very wonderful experience. I actually just got done nursing my 1yr son right before I got online tonight. It's a way to stay bonded to your baby and breast milk is best for there health. Your making a wonderful choice and just don't give up practice makes perfect!
I loved Breastfeeding. It didn't really hurt at all. I think for a week on my second week breastfeeding I was a little sore but I got lotion that worked wonders. We had a hard start because my daughter was learning but thanks to the nurse who never let me give up it came easy to us. I also pumped at work to, that didnt hurt. I think the worse pain for me was when my daughter started to sleep all-night I'd wake up filled with milk! Good Luck :) I hope it works out for you and baby.
They have cream that you can put on your nipples that helps a lot..No one told me my breast would get engorged and it hurts like hell what I did 2 help with the pain is pump just a lil soo they went soo hard and I use frozen cabagge to put on my breast it helps a lot... So u buy a head of cabbage and you pull it apart and freeze them and just pull them out as you need them the cup your breast really good... Hope this helps...
I breastfed both my girls and it was the best thing I could of done for them.Yes at first your nipples will be sore and some people's nipples do crack (mine did) and I cried and cried but like another mom said to u. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! once all the crappy stuff is done (4-10 days it's one of the easiest things you can do.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.
don't be afraid to ask questions. sometimes its hard to get the baby to latch on and can get frustrating for you both, but keep working with it, its worth it :) while your in the hospital don't be afraid to ask questions, they have people there who can help you:) good luck!!
the best advice I got was ';don't give up'; don't let the option of falling back on formula allow you to give up too soon.
For the chap crack nipples get nipple butter. They sell them at Motherhood Maternity. I did not think it would be something I would need, but OMG I did!

It is better than lotion..... which I would not use during breast feeding.

Also you will be sore, and hurt sometimes. Use a warm wet wash cloth on your breasts, and it feels better. Also warm shower water hitting your breasts.

Do not forget to get pads for your bra. You will leak sometimes, and a bra soaked with your milk is no fun.

It will hurt, and feel weird at first. You will get the hang of it, and let the nurses help you.
Many of these answers are good -- the thing to remember is that you do have to find your own path for what works for you.

I HIGHLY recommend following a program called Babywise -- I used it with my first and third children and it made a huge difference. It revolves around a very flexible schedule which allows your baby to learn how to sleep and gives you ample time to recover between feedings. I started it the second week with mine and by 8 weeks they were sleeping through the night and gained weight at record paces and I had no trouble with my milk supply. There are some people who say it is too rigid, but those who find it rigid are not implementing it properly, because the flexibility of the schedule that makes it work.

The best advice I can give is the same as some others: Don't give up. It really is worth the effort, and it is not always easy, but it is totally worth it. One time it took me 17 minutes to latch my son (my first child) onto my left breast, I thought I was going to fall apart. He was crying, I was crying, we were both sweating buckets and I called my sister in desperation and she reminded me that he had only been alive for four days. Everything is new to him and me, and somehow that calmed me enough and then he latched right on. It helps to have a mentor, a mom who has nursed successfully is a good start. Me being able to call my big sis at 2 a.m. was a huge help for me.

Some babies don't latch on as well as others, but just like parenting, you do the best you can and that is all you can do ... :D

Oh, almost forgot, get a good pump. When you are starting to doubt your milk supply (we all do at one time or another), you can pump and see what you are getting out -- it's hard to tell when they are nursing, except with the regular wet diapers and weight gain, but there is so much of a mental aspect with breast feeding, it helps to have that for reassuring purposes. Medella Pump InStyle pumps are just outstanding. I have had mine for 8 years and three babies and it's still working for me. Not cheap, probably around $260, but it's a great pump.

    Good luck!! :D
The pain can be bad but it is the worst in the first few days. 2 of mine that breast fed did not really hurt too much at all but my last baby it was so bad. She was a great nurser and would suck so hard and it hurt but after a few weeks it did not hurt at all. (it is different for everyone though)

Leaning over on the side of a bed or sitting hunched over will help the milk flow. As well as hot showers.

You will most likely get very large within the first week or 2 but it may go down a little once the baby starts eating more so don't run out and buy all new bras in the first week.

Get a nursing bra and a nursing tank, these are great!

Positioning is something that depends on you and baby. Keep trying different positions until you find one that works,

Instead of trying to feed for 15 - 30 minutes on one side and then the same on the other side you can do 5 minutes on each and just keep alternating until baby is full. This worked best for me because as I fed on one side the other would fill back up.

Try to start with t he side that does not have as much milk and then switch to the full side. I still stayed fuller on one side but it helped to keep it within reason.

Eat good, both healthy and eat for 2 just like when you are pregnant. But even bigger drink, drink, drink. Milk, water and juice of course. Pop will dry you up real fast so keep it to a minimum.

Tell the doc and nurse before you give birth that you want to nurse. I did not and my son had one bottle and then would never take to nursing even with all the help I got. The bottle is much easier to drink from, it comes pouring out into their mouth instead of them sucking hard.

Use the special lotions to keep from chapping. I never had a huge problem with this but I was soar with my 4th baby. It only lasted a few weeks and then I was fine and never used it again, but good to have on hand in case.

I know it sounds funny but you can roll out your nipple before the baby starts sucking and make sure that the whole nipple is in the babies mouth. It will hurt so much more if it just sucks on the end. It is a learning process for baby as much as it is for you.

I never had success with pumping except the first month or so. Some people have more success with pumping than they do actually nursing so play it by ear and see what works for you. (I prefer manual pumps but some hate them).

Nursing is much like pregnancies in the fact that it is different for everyone and even from one baby to the next.

Good luck and I hope this helps. I wish someone would have told me some of these things but I had to figure them out by trial and error. You are making a good choice though and try to give it a month because it usually gets easier after a month. I would nurse over bottle feed any day. Some say bottles are easier but when your getting up 5 time throughout the night it is much easier to whip it out than go make a bottle, warm it just right, and then thoroughly clean the bottle and then back to bed.
