I need to lose a lot of weight. But whenever I am stressed, upset or down I turn to food, especially sweet stuff.
I also see food as a reward for putting up with all the crap in life.EMOTIONAL EATER. I need some tips and helpful advice on how to overcome emotional eating?
There is a free e-course that might help you. It's called:
“How to Cure Emotional Eating”.
You can find it on the “Emotional Eating” page at the Internet resource listed at the bottom of this reply.
Stress is a common link between ‘comfort’ food and emotions. The easiest way to free ourselves from the dictatorship of emotions is to learn the techniques for dealing with them.
Some emotions are positive and feel good or pleasant. Some emotions are negative and feel bad or unpleasant. Emotional eating is usually caused by using food to try to outweigh negative emotions. We all do it from time to time.
However, sometimes we become slaves to our emotions. Then we try to savor positive emotions, while trying to protect ourselves from negative emotions. We try to attach to emotional highs, and struggle to endure emotional lows. Unfortunately, that approach doesn't work in the long-term because it’s impossible to preserve positive emotions and it's impossible to prevent negative emotions.
There is another free e-course that might help you. It's called:
';Meditation: An Aid to Weight Loss';.
You can find it on the “Meditation” page at the same Internet resource.
I hope this information helps you. All my best wishes to you for the New Year.EMOTIONAL EATER. I need some tips and helpful advice on how to overcome emotional eating?
go viodeke with your friends....sing it out or jog. :)
In your youth you have associated food with feeling good that's why you eat to lift your spirit.
How about looking at things this way? When you are upset or down, things happened that were not in your control, so instead of handing control over food, give yourself control by stopping yourself from eating. If you can't control the people and circumstance around you, control yourself by not eating.
Here is what I did....throw away ALL of the bad food in your house and DONT buy any more. Replace it with fruits and vegtables. Promise...you won't be so tempted to eat so much because the food just isn't as tasty. Let your reward be losing the weight.
Well, if you totally stop doing eating when you are upset, you will get even more upset and then want to eat more. So, what I would suggest is getting some fruits or veggies and eat those when you are upset. Fruits would be better because they are a little sweeter than veggies so they might help with your sweet tooth. Also, some good things to have around are dried fruits like apple or banana chips or dried apricots because they are a little sweeter than the regular fruits. If you can make your own fruit leather-if you have a dehydrator you just puree things like strawberries and then dry them until they are like fruit roll-ups-those always helped me when I was sad and just wanted something sweet to eat-without the added sugar.
Just try to eat a little less each time you feel down. Or do something like taking a walk so you aren't near food and then you'll feel better because exercise raises endorphins which make you happy!
good luck!
Like you also know your self that you are an anxious person and you try to relieve your anxiety by eating.Try to do some mind diverting activities whenever you are stressed or anxious.Try yoga, meditation, exercises. If still the problem persists contact a doctor for treatment of morbid anxiety.
You need to find something to do. Instead of eating try exercising to relax, or read a book, or watch your favorite movie, or go for a walk. Also, find a healthy way to confront your issues. Excessive eating, along with doing drugs and drinking alcohol, will not effectively help you cope with your issues.
It's good that you're aware of the fact that you tend to use food as a coping mechanism. That's the first step in overcoming emotional eating.
I've worked in the health and fitness field for 15 years, including as a weight loss/management counselor. I've found a great many people use food to cope with feelings, so you're far from alone. I would suggest you explore some other coping mechanisms before you attempt to fully give up using food in this manner. You need another way to cope if you're going to be successful in overcoming emotional eating. Exercise is a great way to deal with stress and explore other things, such as meditation, deep breathing, prayer, etc. Perhaps it would be helpful to talk to a therapist as well.
You mention all the ';crap'; in your life. We all have to put up with a certain amount of ';crap';, but try to face problems directly, determine what you CAN change, and do so. If the bad things in your life revolve around a significant other, accept that you can't change that person, but you can change how you interact with him or her.
When you find yourself reaching for food in response to emotions instead of physical hunger, try to stop yourself, substitute another (less harmful) activity. Sometimes just interrupting the pattern can get you started on the road to a new way of life.
If you'd like, please feel free to e-mail me in the future. Hope you have a happy, healthy 2008!
i used to that too. but then it became the opposite, now i cant eat when im stressed out. i gained about 18 pounds, i decied thats it and now when im stressed out i cant eat or i get really sick at my stomach
I am exactly like you. My tip would be to get busy or go out as much as you can.... It doesn't always work but still....
Sweet food (like fruit) is good for you. Eat better food that helps you lose weight by eating a lot (see site below). Also see page on site below on how to be happier so you do not need to try to suck happiness out of food.
See page on nutrition for supplement to help reduce craving by eating super foods. The crap is not in life, but in you. But in you is also perfect peace and limitless happiness.

I would like to ask for your advice on how to have a finer and lighter skin without spending too much?
I have blemishes on my face and my skin is uneven, plus i desperately want to make it more fairer. But i'm short of budget. Please help!I would like to ask for your advice on how to have a finer and lighter skin without spending too much?
use proactive! it's the best....i used it and within a week my skin was PERFECT!!!I would like to ask for your advice on how to have a finer and lighter skin without spending too much?
Put lemon juice on your skin everyday. It has a natural bleaching effect. Also, before you go to bed put some baby powder with aloe on your face to reduce redness and swelling that may occur from every day harsh elements (sun, wind, etc.) There's also a lotion that helps even your skin tone out. I saw it at Kmart once with all the self tanning lotions. It doesn't make you darker, though.

Advice for writing a book in another time period?
I want to write a book that is set in Ancient Egypt and have done a lot of research, but I don't have an Phd in Egyptology. I was wondering if it is still possible to write a book on a time period with extensive research instead of actually going to school for it. I want to make it as historically accurate as possible, any advice?Advice for writing a book in another time period?
If you are going to write fiction, of course you don't need a Phd in Egyptology so long as you have done sufficient research that your story will be believable and able to withstand the scrutiny of those who have similar backgrounds to yours. However, if you are planning to write nonfiction, a book which is intended to be historically valid and which you would hope to have respected by the scholarly community, then you should write with great care, citing your sources, including a bibliography, footnotes, etc. Doubtlessly, you know the requirements. If fiction is to be your vehicle, I think that your objective should be more to write a compelling story than to be absolutely flawless in the historical details. Whatever your goal, good luck!Advice for writing a book in another time period?
When you start writing, (until you get a good way into your manuscript) check every detail online. At first it makes you crazy, but it gets to the point where you feel you know everything and your writing will exude the feeling of knowing.
Watch the History channel, they have at least one show about Egypt a week.
Attend lectures on a your subject.
This stuff should help you be historically accurate and hopefully have fun.
Good Luck!
PS, if you ever set a novel in a later time period, read any literature you can from that time.
You can write a book on ANYTHING no matter what formal education you've had in it. It may be more difficult without the credentials but it's certainly possible.
The only issue would be market forces, getting it published and whatnot.
You don't need to go to a class! Doing a lot of research and perhaps asking someone who knows more than you questions is just fine. It's what I do whenever I write about historical events.

Where can I find a published author with nothing better to do than offer me advice on my writing?
I am writing a novel, and I need somebody to consult. Must be a random act of kindness though, as I don't pay!Where can I find a published author with nothing better to do than offer me advice on my writing?
My scheduled book release is next month. Cover design has been approved and it is in production now. What is your question?Where can I find a published author with nothing better to do than offer me advice on my writing?

I'm a published author in poetry. I've also been a novelist for seven years (not published with novels, though, because I'm trying to strategize in order to get my book in with a good company!), so I probably have experience enough to help you out. I'm currently working on my second novel (fifth if you count three projects I haven't quite finished) right now, though, so it can't be anything too time consuming. As in I'm not going to sit down and beta-read or critique your entire manuscript anytime soon. But if you mean being pen pals and you asking me questions or giving me samples to critique, I'd be delighted to help!
There are lots of authors out there willing to help beginning writers. Libraries in any given city often have writers-in-residence that are there exactly for that purpose. Start asking around, too; you'll be surprised what kind of connections you can find - you never know who might know an author. Most cities and provinces/states have writers' guilds or groups. You could try contacting them to see if they can help you. Even looking on forums such as this one or other writing forums can help you find someone. Writers are people too! In my experience, I've found authors happy to talk about their craft and help out new writers.
I am a fifteen year old writer and have had three publishers ask me to work with them and allow them to print my work. However they rescinded their offer when they heard I was a minor. I am not published, but I have successfully located a publisher and am getting published this upcoming year! If that counts... You can contact me from my bio page! I accept emails and IM's alike and am willing to look over your work for you and give you tips. I am not super experienced, but I have successfully survived the writing market, and agent Chaos...
feel free to call upon me at any time you need me... Though you must give me two to three weeks to respond... (I usually respond within a week) I wish the best of luck to you... Feel free to contact me VIA email or IM (preferably email)
P.S. I am on a publishing tour, and am crazily busy right now... but in two days things will definitely die down

I doubt you'll find a published author that will actually take the time out to help us aspiring authors, but hopefully there are. :]
If I were you, I'd probably just ask a really good writer to ';Beta'; for you. They can help you with it, too, of course. But even they might not want to spend their time doing acts of kindness. Some are rude.
I do hope you find a published author to help you, though. I'd love to have a FRIEND that was a published author...
Along with Alaric41 I'll offer any advice I can. I don't write novels, but I've had quite a few short stories published, a few stage plays produced, and one of screenplays is being represented by a literary agent. You can reach me by clicking on my avatar.makeup base

This may sound stupid, but I need advice. Insecurities about bad writing forces me to not want to write?
I prefer writing by hand becuase it just feels right. By computer, there isn't that closeness or personal feel to it like long hand does. But here is this thing my hand writing is horrible. It doesn't usually worry me, but when writing, I just don't feel like writing anymore when I see my own handwriting = ( Advice? This may sound stupid, but I need advice. Insecurities about bad writing forces me to not want to write?
Look at it this way. You love to write with pen and paper but loathe to write at the keyboard because it seems lacking a personal feel. The answer is to ignore how bad your handwriting is as long as you can read and understand it. Because it's going to have to be typed up anyway because nowhere is going to accept handwritten manuscripts my friend. So just enjoywriting by hand and let that magic flow! This may sound stupid, but I need advice. Insecurities about bad writing forces me to not want to write?
Then don't write.
I'm afraid this really does sound like making excuses. You can't write because of your handwriting, but you can't write on a computer either? Pick one and live with it. Writing isn't easy. It isn't supposed to be easy. If you enjoy it, then write. If you don't, stop.
In any case, you surely don't expect anyone else to see your first drafts? It doesn't matter in the slightest how bad your handwriting is if nobody else is ever going to see it, does it?
Write what you feel, then type it into a computer and save it. Repeat until story is done.

Advice for my first ever english coursework essay on the sherlock holmes storys ?
Ive just come into KS4 and i now have the task of writing an essay about the sherlock holmes story ';the speckled band';, we also need to mention about Conan Doyle's (Author) writing techniques that keeps the reader interested and a bunch of other stuf. We have already been doing research but id love some advice on how to set it all out and a few things i could sayAdvice for my first ever english coursework essay on the sherlock holmes storys ?
A young woman named Helen Stoner consults the detective Sherlock Holmes about the suspicious death of her sister, Julia. One night, after conversing with her twin sister about her big day, Julia suddenly reappeared in Helen's room, struggling to breathe, and died soon afterwards. Julia had been engaged to be married and, had she lived, would have received an annual 250 GBP annuity from her late mother's income. Now Helen is engaged to be married. Holmes' investigation of the mother's estate reveals that its value has decreased significantly, and if both daughters had married, Dr. Roylott, Helen's ill-tempered and violent stepfather, would be left with very little, while the marriage of even one would be crippling. Therefore, the main suspicion falls on him.
Dr. Roylott has required Helen to move into a particular room of his heavily mortgaged ancestral home, Stoke Moran. A number of details about the place are mysterious and disturbing. A low whistling sound is heard late at night, as well as a metallic clank. There is a strange bell cord over the bed, and it does not seem to work any bell. There are also Julia's dying words about a ';speckled band.'; Stoner surmises that Julia might have been murdered by the gypsies, whom Dr. Roylott permits to live on the grounds鈥攖hey wear speckled handkerchiefs around their necks. A cheetah and a baboon also have the run of the property, for Dr. Roylott keeps exotic pets. Helen feels reluctant to sleep in the room.
After Helen leaves, Dr. Roylott comes to visit Holmes, having traced his stepdaughter. He demands to know what Helen has said to Holmes, but Holmes refuses to say. Dr. Roylott bends an iron poker into a curve in an attempt to intimidate Holmes, but Holmes is unaffected as he maintains a rather jovial demeanor during the encounter. After Roylott leaves, Holmes straightens the poker out again, thus showing that he is just as strong as the doctor.
Having arranged for Helen to spend the night somewhere else, Holmes and Watson sneak into her bedroom without Dr. Roylott's knowledge. Holmes says that he has already deduced the solution to the mystery, and this test of his theory turns out to be successful. They hear the whistle, and Holmes also sees what the bell cord is really for, although Watson does not. Julia's last words about a ';speckled band'; were in fact describing ';a swamp adder, the deadliest snake in India';. The venomous snake had been sent to Julia's room by Dr. Roylott to murder her. After the swamp adder bit Julia he called off the snake with the whistling, which made the snake climb up through the bell cord, disappearing from the scene.
Now the swamp adder is sent again to kill Julia's sister Helen. Holmes attacks the snake, sending it back through an air ventilator connected to the next room. The angry snake bites Dr. Roylott instead, and, within seconds, he is dead. Grimly noting that he is indirectly responsible for Dr. Roylott's death, Holmes remarks that he is unlikely to feel much remorse because of it.
Doyle wrote and produced a play based on the story. It premiered at the Adelphi Theatre, London on 4 June 1910, with H. A. Saintsbury as Sherlock Holmes and Lyn Harding as Dr. Grimesby Roylott. The play, originally called The Stonor Case, differs from the story in several details, such as the names of some of the characters

Advice for a college student interested in investing?
I am a college student interested in investing a little bit of my money through online stock trading. I have never really invested money before, so I am really just looking for advice on how to get started. I am not looking to do any serious trading, just a few options to let my investment grow. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!Advice for a college student interested in investing?
There are a number of good dividend paying stocks that allow you to buy directly from the company, then the reinvest dividends into whole or fractional shares of the stock. They are called DRIPs or Dividend reinvestment plans. Most of them are at very low prices right now. There is plenty of info out there on the subject. Check them for their record of paying dividends and their record for increasing dividends. Good luck to you.Advice for a college student interested in investing?
For investing, think diversification, balance and long term.
If you don't want to do those 3, then it's speculation, which is much more like gambling. Or you should just save your money in a CD, savings account or money market.
As for how to invest, I recommend using Index mutual funds or ETFs. Personally, I like Vanguard mutual funds as they are simple and they don't fee you to death.
Pick your percentage and invest 50 percent in their Total Stock Market Fund, and 30 percent in their Total Bond Market Fund, and maybe another 25 percent in their foreign stock fund (I forget the exact name). You can play with the percentages.
Most stock investors lose money. (Let that sink in for a minute.)
You need to ask yourself what it is that you are trying to accomplish. If you are looking for a safe place to put some money, look for a bank with a good rate (ING is a good one) or get a CD.
If you are looking to learn, find a broker that has ';paper trading'; where you can invest with play money.
The vast majority of investors have poor results because they buy impulsively and have no plan for exiting their trades. (You bought XYZ stock and it went to $100. Now what? Sell it? Buy more?)
I cannot teach you an investing strategy in a few paragraphs. There are entire libraries written on the subject. I can recommend a good place to start.
I would suggest that you get Investors Business Daily and read it cover to cover everyday, for at least a week. It sounds harder than it is - IBD is thin and written at 6th grade level. They provide an outline of a sound investing strategy. If you subscribe, you can sometimes find a deal where they will provide a decent book by William O'Neil on how to invest. (Personally, I don't recommend investing in their CANSLIM training program that they offer. It's a sink hole for more money. There are better training programs.) Your school library might have IDB for free.
Personally, I like the idea of combining stock with options. You have the ability to protect your profits while improving your profit potential. That's how the ';big guys'; invest - Hedge Funds. However, that strategy takes a lot more time to learn and manage. It's not appropriate for a college student unless you are an MBA.
Good luck!
Don't put all your money in stocks and stock funds like everyone will tell you to do. Diversify with bond funds, high yield bond funds, and CD's. Learn from what happened last year.
Well check the economy is the first thing it might be hard to with the economy like this

Well check the economy is the first thing it might be hard to with the economy like this
Advice on looking after a budgie please?
I bought a budgie home from with me tonight. She had flown into the store and a customer had caught her. The RSPCA will collect her on Monday, but meanwhile she is staying with me. She is in a large hamster cage (no hamster!), and she has water and bird seed.
I'm pretty sure it's a girl, but other than that i know nothing! Will she be okay till Monday with the temporary home i've given her?
She seems to have been well handled as she's quite tame. Is there a way to tel how old she is?
Any help gratefully received.
Oh and i've put some soft hay into the hamster house.Advice on looking after a budgie please?
Hi Maggs,
Nice of you to take care of the escapee bird!
She will need budgie seed. Wild bird seed usually has a lot of corn and coarse grain whereas budgies need the finer grains such as various kinds of millet.
You should be able to get budgie seed from your local corner shop.
If you can't get the budgie seed, still give her the wild bird seed (she will pick out what she wants) but supplement it with foods found in your larder such as couscous, cracked wheat, ground nuts and/or seeds and oats, just to make sure she gets enough food that she can eat.
Some birds also like vegetables. You could offer her a lettuce leaf; wash it well then peg it to the hamster cage so she can peck at it.
Most birds love bathing. Provide her with a shallow dish (e.g. a large plastic jar top) of water. It must be wide but not deep so she can step into it and flutter her wings without danger of drowning.
What have you put down for bedding?
Normally you put down bird sand. This has a two-fold function. It provides a base and also it provides some essential grit for the budgie to eat to aid her digesion. If you can't get any bird sand over the weekend, use some sandy soil from the garden (not compost).
She will need something to sit on. Get some twigs, cut them to size and slot them at the ends so you can wedge them into the cage wire. You may need to use some bluetack around the twigs' ends to stop them from sliding around.
Put the cage in a warm, draught-free area. Place a cloth over part of the cage so the bird has a space of privacy that she can retire into.
Best wishes

I am not the right person to answer this one really. I once put my budgie outside (in the cage of course) to let it have some fresh air. When I went out to bring it back inside it had knocked the seed dish off and had escaped.
I am much better at looking after cats!!

Sounds like it, but I would take the hay out and yes, put newspaper on the bottom of the cage. Watch to see, and if she is eating and drinking, that is a good sign. Give her a cover for night time and keep the cage out of drafts. If she is a pet, maybe there is an ad in the paper for a lost bird. The newspaper answer above about the age bands is right too - if there are lined marks across her forehead that go down to or near her cere and beak, she is a youngster (when budgies lose this marking, or it goes back to about their eyes, they are more mature). That might not work for some colours though. Another sign of a real youngster is dark brown on the beak, not just light brown. Good luck.
Make sure you give her a perch, so she can go to sleep on it, other than that, she should be fine.
she will be fine, I do not think she needs the hay newspaper would be OK temporary, Apart from baby markings (under 4 months) I do not think you can tell their age

Advice on how to extract a whole lot of blood from shag carpet?
It's starting to dry.Advice on how to extract a whole lot of blood from shag carpet?
pink solution....I bought it a couple of years at Costco when they were doing they're demo and I've hardly made a dent in the container.
Not only have I gotten out blood stains, but pen, cat puke, stains on walls, used it in my oven....I also have made a general cleaner for when I'm cleaning the bathroom, tidying up after supper, etc.
This stuff is awesome...biodegradable, doesn't hurt your hands either (you can actually rub some on your hands like you would lotion as a protector)
GOOD LUCK! Advice on how to extract a whole lot of blood from shag carpet?
Drying is OK for the Home Depot commercial cleaning product called Zep 505. I have taken dried blood out of MANY things with this product. I couldn't tell you what my daughter had in her carpet when I used this to saturate the dozens of colorful stains including black spray paint on my tan carpet. Let the stain saturated with the 505 dry and then re-saturate just before using the hand held scrubber on a steam cleaner to scrub the fibers loose and then go over it slowly with very hot water and carpet cleaning solution. Be patient and go over it a couple of times. Then take time to rinse it too. It should come out.
pour a bottle or two of hydrogen peroxide on it
the peroxide will bubble up and eat at the blood
hydrogen peroxide, pour on the site and dab with a towel. repeat as necessary.

Where can I get good free legal advice so that I can find out if I have a case worth drawing up a lawsuit?
I am looking to sue for around $3,500 - I just need someone to look at the literature to find out if there is a solid case. I would like to find someone around the area of Dayton, Ohio... or if someone could point me in the direction of HOW to find someone around Dayton so that I may contact them for free legal advice. This is not a worker's comp. suit, which I find that most free legal advice is for. There are a lot of dimensions to this possible case, so I would really like to get someone that knows what they are doing. Any help?Where can I get good free legal advice so that I can find out if I have a case worth drawing up a lawsuit?
You did not mention the nature of the suit, only the amount of damages. Without knowing the nature of the suit, its really difficult to tell you if you will find someone willing to give you free legal advice.
If, for instance, its a collections matter, you may be able to find an attorney who will do it for you on a contingency basis, and then charge a percentage of the amount collected. This presumes, of course, that he or she believes that you have a valid claim.
Other claims which require their professional expertise may or may not be done on a contingency basis. I strongly advise you not to try and sue on your own. Its been my experience that people who try and sue on their own, in anywhere but a small claims court, generally end up paying an attorney more money to undo the mess they created than they would have paid an attorney to do the matter correctly in the first place.
Contact your local or state bar association for a referral to an attorney licensed in Ohio.Where can I get good free legal advice so that I can find out if I have a case worth drawing up a lawsuit?
The previous answerers are correct in that without providing any facts of your particular case, there really isn't any way of even telling you where to go for advice, let actually giving you any here. Attorneys tend to specialize in certain practice areas, so without even knowing what we're looking at, it's hard to send you in any one direction.
But for starters, the amount in controversy is pretty small. $3,500 in attorneys fees won't get you very far, as they can charge upwards of $100 an hour. Many attorneys provide a free consultation to determine whether or not they think you've got a case, but after that the hourly rate kicks in. Even if you should win, you're looking at spending up to half of your award on a lawyer, and if you lose, you're hundreds to thousands of dollars in the hole.
As $3000 is the dollar limit for small claims court, you're probably better off going there, as you don't need an attorney in that venue. Small claims courts have a dramatically simplified procedure when compared to regular civil courts. They don't have juries, discovery phases, and don't deal in libel or slander. They also don't offer anything but monetary awards. But the upshot is that you can represent yourself and there isn't any real loss should you lose, just court costs, which don't amount to much. You can't make a claim for the whole $3,500, but you're unlikely to recoup all of that in a full civil court anyways.
The Ohio Bar Association has information regarding lawyer referral services for your area that you can check out (source listed below). Regardless, there shouldn't normally be a fee charged to you for an initial consultation. However, if you're going to ask an attorney to do research, they're going to want to get paid for it.
A dispute over $3500 doesn't sound that complicated. You could do the research yourself.
most likely, you have no case, or you would already have an attorney.
Make sure before you pursue a lawsuit that it is not frivolous. Frivolous lawsuits are the cause of high insurance prices, high medical prices, and in effect are what prevents so many US citizens from being able to afford medical coverage.
Why should a lawyer be expected to solve your legal problems for free?
Do you regularly call up plumbers and say ';I just need someone to fix my sink'; and expect it to be free? How about your mechanic? Do you expect him to solve your auto problems for free too?
No one is going to take time to sit down with you and listen to your whole story and go over all your paperwork with you and use their very expensive education and years of experience and expertise in order to advise you and guide you for free out of the goodness of their heart. Their bills are not going to be paid by sitting around with you and working for free.
Personal injury firms and WC firms generate their income on a contingency basis so their time is not money when it comes to handing out free consultations. For everyone else, time is money.
Suck it up and pay someone for some competent advice in the matter you need help with.
Start calling attorneys. A lot of them will do a free consultation on the first visit. The attorney may even take the case for you on a contingency basis.

Advice for someone moving to the Domincan Republic?
I am planning to move to the Dominican Republic (Santiago most likely) after I graduate in May (degrees in International Studies and Spanish). I am hoping to teach conversational english classes to business people traveling to the states. I was hoping someone from the D.R. could give me some advice regarding health insurance, apartments, cost of living, etc. Also, I am bringing my dog so if anyone knows regulations regarding traveling abroad with pets would be helpful. Thanks!Advice for someone moving to the Domincan Republic?
You should have no problem finding that kind of job in Santiago since they are always looking for teachers for that particular course (I was offered a job in the same thing when there on vacation visiting family and I hadn't even graduated college yet). Cost of living is relatively cheaper than it is here in the US. You can rent a decent apartment for about $200 a month. However, I have to say if you've never been there be prepared for a few things...rolling black outs are common everyday, so unless you have a generator be prepared to not have any electricity at least once a day for a couple of hours (sometimes as much as 3-4 hours). Same thing with water, although in Santiago it is very uncommon. The people are very friendly and easy going. Familiarize yourself with the culture and holidays (food and such...like they celebrate xmas, but there is more emphasis on Dia de los Reyes in January...most importly of all, baseball team in Santiago Las Aguilas...its a religion onto itself...).
To the person below, DR is not technically considered a third world country and in terms of crime rate its the same as everyelse, depends on the neighborhood you live in. I've find that health care there is better than the health care here. Most people I know will go for surgery in DR before they even consider going to a hospital in the states.
I would bring mosquito repellant, Brita water filter (with replacement filters), stuff that you can't live without (obviously). I go to DR on a regular basis to visit family and vacation and I love it there more than here.
As far as traveling with your dog, depends on the airline.
Contact the nearest embassy and see if they can provide you with more info...not knowing where you are from I can only say that there is one in New York and one in Paterson, NJ. They are very helpful and can help you further with any questions. Same thing when you arrive in DR. I believe there is an American embassy in Santiago but I'm not sure where it is.
Wish you the best of luck and I'm very jealous.....lol...but I will be there for New Years which is the BEST.

I think santo domingo has more chances for that type of work. Apartments can range from 1500 - 7000 DR peso per month.($50-$300 US) Many apartments are very low standard compared to US. Keep in mind that wages are a fraction of US. Health care is two tiered, free hospitals and pay hospitals. Health insurance is very uncommon. If you are wealthy enough you go to the better pay hospitals. Have you been to DR? In some ways it is almost third world conditions. Some airlines will transport dogs in pet cages.

Whose jurisdiction would that even fall under?
No, I don't think you could get arrested for it, especially since the participant was actively seeking advice. Even if you were arrested, any lawyer with two brain cells to rub together could bust you out in no time.
No way. If you want a professional, call a doctor or go see a pharmacist. If you want real-life experiences, ask here!
People ask questions on here hoping to find someone that has been through what they are now experiencing. As you state in your question.. Answerer's are giving advice.. The questioner has the choice to except it or ignore it. This is YAHOO ANSWERS.. not ASK A DOCTOR. lol

Advice on paying off debt or buying a home?
I am just looking for advice. Please don't try to sell anything to me. I owed $35K in credit. It may take me 1 year or so to pay it off. Then I'll be almost debt free.
Is it better to save $35K to buy a second home while making payment on the credit both credit cards or pay off the credit cards completely and buy the house later? Why one option would be better than the other.Advice on paying off debt or buying a home?
A second home?
That debt may affect your ability to even get a home loan in this market. Pay down your debt, and then look on to the second home.
Actually, in my opinion, I would look to invest in a Roth IRA or some type of retirement plan before looking at a second home. Is this simply a second home you will vacation in, moving out of your primary residence, or is that you simply want to own a second home? These questions will help you decide whether this a priority or not. But I would pay off the debt first then look into retirement.Advice on paying off debt or buying a home?
You have good question. The answer however is not easily provided. First, traditional thinking would say you should compare the interest rate on your savings and compare it with the interest cost on your credit card. You should pay off the credit card if it is higher than what you are earnings on savings. It should also be noted, however, these are not typical times. It goes without saying you should pay off any and all debt and accumulate as much cash as you can. I would delay any decision to buy a second house in today's economy. You might very well need the money.
It's definitely better to pay off the credit card debt before purchasing the second home. You can think about it in returns. If you invested in a second home, you may get an annual appreciation of 4%-ish a year (plus another mortgage payment, plus taxes and insurance, plus repair costs...you get the point). If you pay off the credit cards, you'll be saving 12-25%-ish a year. Not paying that interest is very similar to making it!
The answer about even qualifying for a second mortgage during this time with that much outstanding debt is a very good point as well.
Hope this website can answer your questions w w w.blackhatguide.n e t

Advice for writing short scripts or stories?
I want to write short scripts and short stories ranging from 1 page to 5 pages at the most. How can I tell an effective story (with good dialogue, action, etc) in 1 or 5 pages?Advice for writing short scripts or stories?
assuming you're writing about one character in particular, i usually just write about a short snippet from a character's life. just focus on one particular event and describe it in detail, with the character's interactions with those around them. i try not to go into detail about the character's past a lot. i hint at past events to give the character more mystery, but that's about it

Any sites where you can get telephone advice on horse riding?
Are there any web sites like Keen.com where I can get riding advice? I used to use Keen but the person I used there is no longer available. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount.Any sites where you can get telephone advice on horse riding?
You can visit a guy named Horse Problems Australia. He has tons of youtube videos with free advice. He also has a site and will give you free help if you send him a video of your horse and problem. I bought a bunch of his videos and just love them!Any sites where you can get telephone advice on horse riding?
I would think not. It would be very difficult to give the correct advice over the phone because horse riding is very complex. Riding a horse is not like driving a car. Some thing that works on one horse, could be a total disaster on another. The best advice would be from a qualified instructor, whom has experience with dealing with many horses. The instructor/trainer would need to watch you ride. A good book would help with general information, such as descriptions, positions etc.
Because riding is such a physical and emotional experience, I wouldn't think you could learn much over the telephone. Riding really needs to be taught by participating and being shown in person what to do.
Sorry, I don't think I can help you.

Anyone have any advice for how to handle a panic attack?
I panicked about something today and it was so debilitating. I know it sounds weird, but I got so worried that all I could do was pace around the house.....I couldn't sit still and do anything. Anyone ever had this happen and if so, what do you recommend doing when this happens?Anyone have any advice for how to handle a panic attack?
I get those a lot. I take deep breaths and find something productive to do, or I jog around the neighborhood. It always works for me.Anyone have any advice for how to handle a panic attack?
Yup, when you feel that happening..
Think to yourself.. This is not a big deal , this is not a big deal , panicking about it is stupid... Take some deep breaths , listen to music and relax..
While there can be a medical reason for it many times it is ourselves that drive ourselves that way, we stress or have stress for many reasons and here in the good Ole USA most of us carry boat loads of debts that we know we can't really pay and we never can get ahead, knowing this in the subconscious we deny it outright, since we don't know what you were worried about I took a shot at one of the most common causes, stress, stress, stress, keep this in mind, if there's absolutely nothing you can do about the problem then why stress for something you cannot do anything or change the outcome to. If it is something you can fix then do what you can piece by piece and try not to tackle the whole beast in one swoop, one thousand little cuts will kill as well as one bigger cut, takes just a bit longer but it will happen.
In the mean time try drinking at the start of your day a cup of fresh brewed Manzanilla Chamomile tea, check it out online it works to calm most people down, tea is much more then people think.
if your panic took the form of obsessing about the item and you couldn't react to anything else, the only answer i might have would be to physically remove yourself from the location. sounds easy, but sometimes really helps to get outside and enjoy some sun. another simple option would also be valerian root to help the mind and body disconnect from the event a bit. it helps the stomach relax a bit without resorting to anything drastic.
talk your way out of it, its a mental door you must pass thru again..its all in the mind.
its a fight withyourself that you can win, without drugs.
count backwards, slowly, from 100-1
this takes your attention off the panic attack and centers you...it hasn't failed for me yet!
I faced these head on in my early twenties and eventually I overcame my fear, try to relax and think what could really happen? Sometimes I'd give myself a light pinch to focus.
This may not work for you, in which case you may have to see a doctor.
i am extremely high strung and i feel the need to control every situation and if anything gets out of control, I do panic and pace and feel completely out of control and helpless and stressed. I understand. Here is what i do: I know you can't control every situation but controlling what you can about your own life will help. learn what triggers your panic attacks and try to control the situation around you to prevent that or learn how to remove yourself from that situation. If you can't help this: stop, breathe, realize that you can't control everything. Ask yourself what you can do to help this situation and make yourself feel better. My big triggers were always running out of money. So i learned to not impulse shop so much and budget my money better so that I would not find myself short in my account. Sometimes the simplest little things can make you feel so much better in the long run. Also: exercise helps me tremendously. If i feel antsy, I run my *** off on the treadmill. That helps take the butterflies out of my gut and it's me time so i can clear my mind and think straight. most importantly, address what triggers your panic attacks and figure out a way to prevent it or work through it when it happens.
PANIC IS NOTHING BUT A SELF MADE PROBLEM. NEVER RESPONSE TO PANIC SITUATION. JUST LEAVE IT AT HIS OWN.
TRY TO UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS NOT UR PROBLEM TO SOLVE THIS, FORGET IT AND WILL DISAPPEAR ITSELF.
IN ANOTHER CASE U MUST HAVE STRONG NERVOUS SYSTEM AND YOU DEAL WITH IT SUCCESSFULLY.
I have had panic attacks before, mostly related to a phobia I have, but they are more severe. I have to keep my head down or I will faint; it feels like i cant breathe and I get very hot and sweat and my heart is racing....
Unfortunately there is no simple cure for this situation; if this occurs often a doctor can prescribe medication but this is serious stuff and should not be used for once in awhile anxiety; its for panic disorder which has to be diagnosed...
some things that help me are chamomile tea, listening to music and while the anxiety attack is happening, keeping your head down and looking at the floor. You can also try breathing slowly and exhaling to the count of 4, its called square breathing. There are herbs that can help as well but again be careful, they are almost like medication, ask someone who knows what theya re talking about. Valerin, passion flower, and kava are some of the many herbs that promotes anti-anxiety, st.johns wart is known for anti-depression. These all have a sleep inducing quality to them; you should get looks of rest and take a multi-vitamin and eat healthy.
Breath deeply, listen to music, do anything to get your mind off of it, if you really feel bad you can breath into a paper bag or go to bed and curl up.
Yeah that has happened to me before. I find that breathing excercises are the best. Concentrate on a breathing pattern and 'meditate' if you can to bring your heart rate down. As soon as you are stable make a quick plan on a piece of paper that will allow you to deal with your problem. Even if the plan isn't great, you can refine it later but get some sort of action plan in place so that you can concentrate on it.
i don't know if you had a real panic attack. If you did the thing to remember is that it is not harmful and will pass. There is nothing to do for it but accept it and it will end itself. The more you get worked up the longer it will last. Anyone can panic, just put them in front of a firing squad. It is part of human nature that you don't want to fear or make a habit out of.
Well if it is fear a thing that i read in a book said ';the only thing that drives fear is fear itself'; hope i helped and if you have anger management you need to ';just let it be';
do a max set of pushups, then take a cold shower.
It sounds really wierd, but just try it.
All I can say is take a break sit back and do something you enjoy its the only way to get over panic attacks. I used to get them bad then I just decided to tell everyone to leave me alone for a while and I sat back and did everything I like to do.
Trustme no medication can cure it take a break and talk to people about what is worrying you even if theydon't want to listen to you. Just find someone that will. And take it easy
i found the best way is to lay on a couch empty your mind and just take long deep breaths and just relax
Sometimes going for a walk or jog will help get rid of that restless energy. Talking to friends helps too I find. And keep telling yourself that you'll be fine, the feeling will go away soon and you will be ok. My friend has panic attacks alot, and I always just talk calmly to her, or maybe tell her a little story to help take her mind off of it and calm her down.
Feel better!
Try thinking about something else... and take deep breaths. It might not work though. If not and these attacks keep happening and you are concerned I would make an appointment with your doctor. You might need a way to deal with these attacks other than natural methods.
I had them... I medicated for a long while. I am no longer on medication but I still have them... just not as bad. I will think about something else or I will go to the nearest window or door and take nice deep breaths of some fresh air... it calms me down some without making me a zombie!
i have had one of those lyk twice. i actually had to go to the ambulance station. i felt lyk real nervous at 1st, then felt lyk i couldnt breath. then i was freaking out because i couldnt get enough air in (i thought) but they told me to calm down and breath in through my nose hold it for a few secs and breath out of my mouth.
it works.
it it gets to bad then i suggest you get medicine. It will help:]
Do whatever you can to confront the thing that is stressing you out. For example, if it's your grades, do homework. If it's unemployment, type up a resume. (These are just examples.) If you can't do anything about whatever is stressing you out right now for whatever reason, make a list of things you can do in the future (tomorrow, for instance). Then do something for yourself (take a bath, drink some chamomile tea, etc.) and tell yourself that you've done all you can do today about your problem.
I have extremely RANDOM panic attacks. They occur in very random situtations and at random times. There is no consistency to them at all. I feel as if I am not breathing correctly and/or my heart is racing, and a lot of times I feel very unstable. Really, it just feels like something is not right. And the more I think about it as it is happening, the worse the feeling(s) get. I just try and think of something else, talk to someone, do something that I ROUTINELY do, just to get my mind going on something else. Sometimes it's quite hard to do...but it works eventually. TIME is all that really ';heals'; my panic attacks.
Do deep breathing exercises.

do a max set of pushups, then take a cold shower.

I am seeking advice on changing my workout routine so that I can loose more weight and tone up my body?
I try to follow a workout routine were I start off with 80 to 90 minutes of cardiovascular exercise like spinning, cross-trainer and or stepper. This is followed by weights for an hour involving all the upper body muscle groups. I am trying to loose weight and tone up at the same time but not put on any muscle bulk. How can i change my routine as I think I might have plateaued and am experiencing no weight loss on the scales. Is doing the weights first followed by the CV workout a good approach? Any and all advice is welcome.I am seeking advice on changing my workout routine so that I can loose more weight and tone up my body?
Our bodies do get used to a workout routine. Even if we try to switch it up each day, our body can get used to the pattern that we work out in.
What I would recommend is to try just one form of cardio for a month and one type of weight lifting. Then, switch every 1 to 2 months.
Here's an Example:
Jan/Feb: Spinning and Free Weights
Mar/Apr: Cross Training and Pulley System Weight Lifting
May/Jun: Stair Stepper and Weight Machines
Jul/Aug: Spinning and Free Weights
Sep/Oct: Cross Training and Pulley System Weight Lifting
Nov/Dec: Stair Stepper and Weight Machines
That way, every two months you switch it up. You keep your muscles guessing. By doing the different weight lifting systems (free weights, pulley weights, and machines) you'll be using SLIGHTLY different muscles and get a slightly different workout.
Don't switch up every day or week. Wait at least 4 weeks before you switch routines. (of course it's ok to throw in a day or two of something else here and there, but it's really recommended that you stick to one thing for one to two months).
Also, rest for a day inbetween your weight lifting. Only lift 3 or 4 days a week. Your muscles need that day to repair the microscopic tears in the muscle.
And, (as I believe everyone already knows) if you want to build muscle mass, lift the maximum weight possibe while still being safe and do as many reps as you can (if you can do more than 20, it's not your maximum weight). And, if you just want to have lean, toned muscles, lift less weight, and do more reps.
Another way to maximize your workout is to do the motions SLOW and CONTROLLED. Focus on the resistance on the way down, as well as on the way up. Each move should usually take about 2 seconds each direction (slowly say to yourself, ';up, two, down, two, up, two, down, two...';).

Need some good advice on what to do about my kitten?
I bought my little Persian kitten from a breeder close to where I live. Anyhow, ever since I've had him(about 4 weeks) he's been plagued with problems. First it was an eye infection, now he is on 2 medications for diareah. Just wondering if I bought a sick kitten or should I tell the breeder from where I purchased him from.Need some good advice on what to do about my kitten?
Sounds like the breeder has sick cats. they should pay for the medicine or you may be able to return it. I know that sounds terrible, but think of the future and the vet bills.Need some good advice on what to do about my kitten?
Sounds like you just got a sick kitten. It has happend to me once before.
pure breeds tend to have more medical issues and Persians tend to have eye and respiratory issues. you can tell the breeder to make sure that other cats and kittens there are healthy. I hope you aren't going to give the kitten back. I hate it when people bring animals to shelters that are sick after they bring them home.
You probably should talk to the breeder so he is aware of the problem because it may be in the genes or something. I would suggest financially that you take out some kind of pet insurance to help pay for future medical bills.
Buying from breeders are not always the best bet. If you looked into it they should have let you meet the mother and father of the kitten. If the father was not there they should have papers on him. If breeders keep a lot of cats in a close space they can get sick easy. It sounds like you are trying to take care of the kitty with a vet. The diarrhea sounds bad in a young one. The vet should have him on Albon liquid taken orally. The doseage is up to vet but it should work quickly, a few days. Ask the local vet if the breeder has had problems before. Good luck.
The diahrrea is probably from being scared in a new place and mostly from a change in diet. Switching types of food or brands can really upset an animals digestion for awhile. The eye thing could be something the other cats had. I would call the breeder and ask if the animals had any problems before you got her.
talk to the breeder. this is often genetic. did you check out the parents before purchasing the kitten? purebreds often have probblems.
You should at least contact them and let them know what's going on. Maybe another kitten had a similar problem and was treated by different meds or whatever. When I adopted my purebred Bengal, he was actually a rescue, I called the breeder and discussed some of his issues. He got a parasite from the home before mine and brought it over. She gave advise. The breeder was very helpful. Good luck with kitty!
You should always contact the breeder *not only because they may help with the medical bills, but also because the other kittens from the litter may have the same symptoms, and the breeder should know*
Has the vet told you the problem... I've had a few kittens end up with distemper. Distemper is a serious illness in cats. It kills 75% of all kittens.
If this is your case then you need to definately tell the person you bought the kitten from because it's extremly contagious. also if your kitten has diarreah and isn't eatting well you need to go to the vet and get a tube of the food supplements they have. I've had 5 kittens altogether come down with it. and all have made it through. My vet says i'm extremely lucky but I chock it up to love. :)
Anyhow when you get the food supplement ask for the feeding syringes (They don't have needles) then force the stuff down the kitten. The first 4 kittens i had that got it, it took me over 6 months to clear em all up. I didn't use the food stuff the 5 kitten i used it and it was healthy in 2 or 3 weeks.
i live by it now.. Maybe you should go get it anyhow just so you can make sure your baby has the proper vitamins and stuff it needs..
I agree with others that you should inform the breeder of the eye problem, but again, Persians tend to have eye problems. I've never seen a Persian that didn't have lots of eye discharge. My opinion is that their ';squished'; faces cause upper respiratory problems.
The diarrhea could be caused by stress and/or diet change. Did you change the diet quickly? Make sure you are feeding the kitten good quality meat-based food. No cheap dry food! Premium quality canned food is best,
The breeder should have already had him dewormed, but you could take a fecal sample to your vet to ensure the diarrhea is not caused by a parasite.
You should demand the breeder pay for the vet bills. But don't give the kitten back because it probably needs you to care for it.

Please i need advice on spices. What are the best spices for chicken, beef and liver or any other meats.?
I am bored to death with my food. i need simple 1 or 2 steps recipes for my meats. Please i need advice on spices. What are the best spices for chicken, beef and liver or any other meats.?
For something different?
Try chicken with curry, tumeric and cumin.
Beef- mustard, pepper, green peppers.
Pork- garlic, brown sugar, oranges and cayanne. Please i need advice on spices. What are the best spices for chicken, beef and liver or any other meats.?
In the spice aisle, look for seasoning blends. They have several types for different meats. McCormick has some of my favorites. This takes the guessing out of what to mix and match.
My favorite quick marinade:
Olive Oil
Red Wine Vinegar
Worcestershire Sauce
Equal parts oil and vinegar, less Worcestershire.
I use this for chicken, pork, and steak. All you do is add the spice blend for what ever meat your cooking.
You can never go wrong with searing your pork in a hot skillet with a little olive oil. 3-4 minutes each side (depending on how thick) then putting in a 400* oven for about 12-16 min. Make sure your skillet is oven proof (iron skillet or a steel handled one)
Gas grill is always great for any meat, no grill use your broiler option on your stove. Move your racks lower, start on a low broil if you have that setting and then go to high to brown the edges.
These options free up some time to get your sides together.
Go slow at first until you get accustom to the taste of herbs/spices. Get a good cook book with a list of spice/herbs. Start with garlic or onion powder, don't use the salt ones you don't need it. Get as fresh as possible and sprinkle on the meats, (just a little, until you know what you like) this is good for all meets.
olive oil
basil
garlic
meat
saute
eat
garlic and parsley rubbed into any meat to marinate is always good. Try experimenting with fruit. You can cook almost any meat with apples or lemons to create a whole new flavor. Look for ethnic seasonings. I have a Greek seasoning that is great on everything, or Cajun.
Just try small amounts of a totally different seasoning, something that you never even really looked at before.makeup base

Advice on investing right after graduation at 22 years old?
Just graduated in May and have already set up my 401k Vanguard account with my work. They match 8% if you contribute 2% so I am already taking advantage of that but would like to start some other investments. I graduated with around $15,000 in student loans so that is my first priority to pay off but I would like to start investing in stocks. Good recommendations for websites to follow stocks? Saving for short term goals etc?Advice on investing right after graduation at 22 years old?
If you're a rookie in investing or stocks, go to
www.finance.yahoo.com.
Open up a portfolio without using real money. You can give yourself as much or as little money to try out the market. The stocks you want to focus on is consumer staples, consumer discretionary, and healthcare. These are DEFENSIVE stocks that will survive through good and bad times. Most of my positions are in these stocks. Some names include 3M, Procter %26amp; Gamble, Kimberly Clark, Exxon Mobil, Walmart, Costco. Everybody's got to eat and wipe their butts regardless of the state of economy. Many of these companies survived through the Great Depression.
That's the benefits. You can sleep at night knowing your money is doing well. There are NO guarantees that you won't lose money. It's just that these stocks are the best. They pay good dividends too.
Then once you're comfortable and test the waters of the market, you can finally put some real money in. Go to Scottrade.com. They're excellent for beginners.
If you're new to stocks, DON'T DAY TRADE. You'll a rookie in a world of professionals. I tried day-trading with Citigroup and AIG when they were a little bit over $1. I had some luck at first, making about $30 a day but I was way over my head. My luck didn't last long and I had to rethink my strategy.
Day trading involves A LOT of commissions to the broker. With all the commissions deducted from each trade, you'll be lucky if you only lose half your money.
I would just day trade using Yahoo! Finance. Open a stimulation account, give yourself $100 worth of fake money and play it in the stimulation format. You'll see what I mean by losing money every easily.
Good luck.Advice on investing right after graduation at 22 years old?
Congratulation, now it's time to pur your education to work for you.

First of all, good for you to start early!! Vanguard should have several online courses you can take if I remember correctly.
Here are a few good idea's to start with and links below:
1. Understand differences between stocks, mutual funds, index funds, government bonds, ETF's and fees %26amp; taxes associated with.
2. Trading fundamentals
3. Technical trading
4. Trader psychology (great for loss prevention)
5. Basic money management %26amp; risk analysis
If you can, join a day trading group (online, in person). You learn faster from people who know what they are doing and have proven results. BUT, if you have to pay for anything be wary. To find stocks I recommend using a free stock screener (MSN Stockfinder Pro), you can filter and find stocks that are high performers.
Happy trading!!
My brother-in-law recently became interested in learning more about stocks and trading and happened to stumbled upon, TopDogTrading.com. They offer really great posts on their site abouts tips, tricks and topics on the stock market and trading. You may find this extremely helpful and resourceful. He actually ordered the first course on fundamentals on stocks so you may want to check them out as well.

Also, try out Yahoo Finance, they are a very popular resource for everything about stocks, tradings, investing, etc.
I hope this helps you out!
I would definitely pay down that debt as soon as possible.
As far as investing, consider a Roth IRA.
http://individual.troweprice.com/public/鈥?/a>
It builds long term tax free earnings, qualified withdrawals can begin at age 59 1/2 pending you've owned it 5 taxable years, and contributions can be withdrawn at any time without penalty. And unlike a traditional IRA, you never have to take out a required distribution.
For the short term, consider bank deposits (money market, bank CD, savings account, etc.)
Get some books. Try the library, so you can save the money and spend it on the market.
Four Pillars of Investing - William J. Bernstein
Short term isnt allways the best.
Compound interest. Think long term.
Start a systematic investment plan.
move to mutual funds -diversified
gain experience and knowledge and move to direct equity
and if you are adventurous then try Options and futures ,even commodity markets.
morningstar.com is the best website for stocks and mutual funds.
You've got the right attitude as I always encouraged others to start investing once they are legally allowed to. For me I started late and am playing catch-up.
Even before investing or starting to read up on investment, you need to find out whether you are risk averse. Why? For this reason. Lets say you put in $1k into stocks and the price closes down lower and you are left with $900, how would you feel? If you find yourself worrying over the slightest drop and unable to sleep at night over it, then the stock market may not be a good place for you. You should look at other alternatives.
If you think that you can stomach risks, then you will need to find out how much risk you can take. This will need you to start looking at educating yourself in investing. Borrow investment books from the libraries, get to know the terminologies used, look at the strategies and techniques and a lot more. Initially, it may appear to be a lot of hard work, but it will help you reduce your losing trades as compared to a person who invests blindly without knowing the basics. You don't have to rush into the stock market because it is always there. Get the right investment education, and you will be off to a good start.

Advice for feeling normal while dealing with hypoglycemia?
My doctor recently diagnosed me with hypoglycemia. I have a number of other health problems including chronic tension headaches, ovarian cysts, and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
Generally I feel nauseous and dizzy/lightheaded unless I eat pretty much every 2 hours or so. I guess I just can't figure out how to eat because I feel pretty horrible most of the time. How can I deal with this?Advice for feeling normal while dealing with hypoglycemia?
i have hypoglcymia and i always carry water and snacks in my purse. eat a lot of protein in the morning for breakfast, like sausages, not only do they taste awesome but they're filled with TONS of protein. and i find myself in a better mood when i eat them for some weird reasonAdvice for feeling normal while dealing with hypoglycemia?
It depends on the amount of sugar and carbohydrates in the cereal ur eating so I can't really say. :/ But I drink OJ sometimes and i watch the amount I take in. You dont wanna drink too much because it'll make ur glucose get too high and crash so keep it to about 1 cup
Instead of sausages you could cook sum eggs (not scrambled) and eat the egg whites. Those are also filled with tons of protein
you need to put something substantial in your body. when you snack eat something that will stick with you like a bologna sandwich.
i know someone who has hypoglycemia and she just keeps snacks in her purse and eats when she needs to. You should be able to lead a very normal life, just know when you need to have a snack.
hope that helps!

I just got a pet skunk. Anyone else have one and wants to share any advice and or stories?
Just wondering if their is any other people out their who enjoy their skunk as much as do I and if they have anything they would like to share about them?I just got a pet skunk. Anyone else have one and wants to share any advice and or stories?
AAAHHHH!!! Someone else!! I have a skunk too. She's my baby! If your skunk is a baby, play with it as much as you can!! Skunks need attention. Play with it's feet and mouth, so that it gets used to you working with it. They get tense about their feet being touched. Don't feed asparagus or junk food. Aspargus causes seziures and they get to be junk food addicts if you give 'em too much.

Back in 1972 (I know, a long time ago) I went to elementary school with a girl who had a skunk. She brought it to class one day. It was the friendliest animal I have ever seen. Obviously the scent gland had been removed!
yeah dont piss him off or hes gonna piss on you eeewwww!

my teacher had a skunk when she was younger. its smell was removed and my teacher loved it
well my (stinky) passed away many years ago he was the only pet skunk that was an inside pet and he had been decent-ed ,he was a character ,if you gave him a hard boiled egg still in the shell he would roll all around trying to get into that egg, they like them raw and will usually clean up their mess, not good if you have rugs. I was staying with my grandmother at the time and she did not know the proper way to pick him up at the base of the tail, even though he was decent-ed i think she feared that part of him, but anyway she broke his tail at midway and from then on everyday he would fill her slippers at least once instead of using the cat box. He would Wait until the middle of the night and sneak out of my bed and fill her slippers so she would still be half asleep and in the morning she forgot to check. they are also very smart.

Is it malpractice if your attorney threatens to quit every time you ask him for advice?
A certain attorney has been harrassing me every time a certain person asks him/her a legal question. He/She threatens to quit each and every time.
What can be done about it?Is it malpractice if your attorney threatens to quit every time you ask him for advice?
find a new lawyerIs it malpractice if your attorney threatens to quit every time you ask him for advice?
Let him quit, who needs him? You don't need that BS... he's a loser.
Yes, please give more details. If you are asking your lawyer legitimate questions and he is threatening to quit, that is wrong. Doesn't rise to the level of malpractice, but it seems like you could at least get him censured. If he is threatening to stop representing you because someone is asking questions on your behalf, that makes a little more sense. It puts a lawyer in a bad position to ask him to discusss your case with a third party. It can violate the attorney-client privilege and put you at a very big disadvantage in your case; then when you lose because of it, your lawyer faces a malpractice claim. If your lawyer wants to quit because you are doing this to him, I can't blame him. But it's not clear if the lawyer is harassing you, or if you mean that his threatening to quit is harasssment.
EDIT:
If you're the person asking the questions then, I wonder what you are asking him. Are you calling him every day, or multiple times in a day, to ask him the same questions, or to play ';What if?'; and make up scenarios that haven't happened yet and demand his legal analysis of them? Because when I was a lawyer, people did this a lot. I never threatened to quit (actually, I just quit without telling any of my clients. They just found out their cases had been transferred to someone else and I wasn't practicing anymore), but it is very aggravating and actually keeps the lawyer from getting his job done. Think about it: Do you get more accomplished when you work, or when you are on the phone talking about work?
But if you're legitimately asking real questions and not calling all the time, then he's wrong to do it. Get a new lawyer, but it's not really likely that he'll incur any kind of punishment for his behavior.
I don't understand - do you work for this attorney, or are you his client? If you're his client, then find another attorney. If you work for him/her then what do you mean by he/she ';harrasses you';? I would think that if he doesn't want this ';certain person'; as his client, then why doesn't he tell the client to find a different lawyer?
EDIT: Well if he's your lawyer, then it makes no sense why he would threaten to quit unless you're not paying him or taking the advice he's already given you. Even so, he should tell you to seek other counsel or you should get a different attorney if his attitude bothers you this much. You could file a complaint with the bar assoc. against him if you're really not happy with his performance, but I doubt being a jerk is considered malpractice. Good luck.
So I'm confused. Give more details about this attorney. Why would he threaten to quit? Did you retain this attorney? Paid retaining fees? Then he is your attorney and you have the right to ask anything you want to pertaining to your legal issues that you hired him for. I'm still confused.
Tell him to spit or get off the pot. Or fire him and save him the trouble of making a decision.
But I'm puzzled why YOUR attorney would threaten to quit whenever somebody ELSE asked a question.

How do i avoid a cowboy builder, advice please !!!?
I need a few walls knocking out and quite a bit of building work doing but after watching so many programmes like builders from hell i fear im going to end up with a cowboy builder myself, what advice can anyone give me to avoid this happening, how can i assure im going to get the quality work i expect for my money and what should i remember to ask when given a quote? How do i avoid a cowboy builder, advice please !!!?
Ask for references. Make sure they are licensed and insured. Ask for copies of their license and insurance. Most contractors claim they have license and insurance, but half of them cannot produce the paperwork to prove it. A reputable contractor will not mind producing them for you. I do this for almost every job that we start. Also get them to show you step by step what they plan to do.How do i avoid a cowboy builder, advice please !!!?
You could ask Trading Standards for the names of builders you should avoid? Maybe they have names of decent builders too, or can tell you where to find them?
Make sure your quote includes the cost of everything, you don't want them adding little bits and pieces as they go along so that you end up paying twice what you were quoted. Pay with a cheque so if anything isn't satisfactory you can cancel it and withhold payment until it's been dealt with. Remember, YOU are in control!
he will be the one wearing jeans and a ten gallon hat and will turn up on his horse
he will also tell you to beware of cowboy builders and tell you some horror stories (usually jobs he did earlier)
put up a sign that reads';no cowboys welcomed here, if you are one ill shoot your horse!';
Whatever you do do not give a deposit, I did and I knew and was recommended the builder and now am in the middle of an expensive court case as the builder never started work.
My new builder has just finished work and did not ask for a penny and it was a long job! Hope this helps
I am a self employed carpenter. I have never asked for any money up front. on larger jobs I will ask for an interim payment to cover cost of materials already bought and used. most of my work comes from recommendation. I am surprised that so few people have asked to see any qualifications or liability insurance but I guess that is because of my reputation. I would say as already advised, you ask around people who have had work done recently, bearing in mind not all jobs run smoothly but providing the end result was to the complete satisfaction of the client is what counts. and don't be embarrassed to ask to see proof of liability insurance.
I don't entirely agree with trade bodies, having worked for a builder who was a member of numerous trade accreditation schemes. I left because I was not comfortable with some of the botches he wanted done on peoples houses. the concept is good but unfortunately they are flawed
Get fixed quotes.
Get at least THREE quotes.
Ask neighbours who have had building work and ask them.
DON'T pay up front, if they need cash be wary.
Even if you follow all of these you can still be too ';soft'; with builders and they can take advantage. This means you don't have to be horrid but they are working for you.
Ask him for the addresses of people who he has done work for recently and contact them. If he is reputable he will not mind providing this information. Do not be impressed by him claiming to be a member of the revelant proffessional body, although there are loads of tradesman who are legitimate, the scoundrels will try to hoodwink you.
try and get a fixed price for the job,and ask around the neighbourhood for the name of a reputable builder
It's a minefield, no doubt about it; but there are a lot of good, honest tradesmen out there, so don't despair. I always advise clients to contact their local trading standards office, as they often have an approved contractor scheme for local builders %26amp; tradesmen. Another good idea is to check that any tradesmen you bring in are members of a professional body (Guild of Master Craftsmen etc). Another trick is to run the names of any builders you are thinking of using through an internet search engine, to see if there is any good or bad press listed.
When the builder is at your home going through the jobs you require, they should be taking notes and measurements, and asking you questions about how you want the job to look when completed. Almost certainly some or all of the walls you require knocking out will be supporting walls, so ask him what type of RSJ's the builder will be using. If he or she just takes a look at the work you need doing and after a few minutes gives you a ballpark figure, show them the door. You require a QUOTE, not an estimate. The quote should be written on company paper, and list everything he or she is going to undertake, and include materials and labour, plus plant (skips/scaffolding/acrows etc). There should be no hidden extras, and do not hand over a penny until the job is complete. Ensure that if the builder includes VAT, that they are actually registered to pay VAT, and are not just stinging you for a few extra quid. If the builder asks or insists that you pay any monies in advance, again show them the door-a good quality tradesman will have confidence in his skills, so that they don't need to worry that you're going to be unhappy with the job and refuse to pay.
The going rate for a tradesman now is around 拢200 per day, so you can ask for your quote to be broken down into labour, materials, and plant. This will at least help you to calculate roughly how many days the builder is billing you for, and you can tally this up with how many days it actually takes. If there is a discrepancy, you agreed to the quote so you'll still have to pay up the agreed amount, but you will at least know whether or not you are getting value for money.
Hope this helps
I would ask the builder if he is registered,is he insured, try to get someone on recommendation also ask to see some of his previous work.
Get a bow and arrow and some eagle feathers,
Seriously, see if any friends can recomend any one, perhaps colleagues at work.
Some of the real cowboys also carry around bogus portfolios of their work including false letters of praise from ';clients';
Usually, these ones can't wait to show you all this.
It's so easy to produce stuff like this these days.
Have a look around the neighbourhood and check out any jobs that are going on.
Be wary of some of the so called Member of ???? brigade,
A number of these either don't exist or you just pay a tenner for the sticker and a registration number. Local authority building control should be able to advise you of reputable builders.

What was the best and worst pregnancy advice you were given?
Come on sisters, share your experinences! What was the best and worst pregnancy advice you were given?
*LOL* So much advice. For me these were my best and worst things I could have been told.
Bad Advice
';You shouldn't lift your hands over your head or pull as it will wrap the cord around babies neck.'; Doctors told me that was an old wives tale and baby would be perfectly fine. I just didn't want to strain or do too much.
';Excercise will hurt the baby';
';Jalepenos are going to kill the baby';
';Using your laptop will hurt you and the baby.
Good advice for me
';Do not eat spicy foods or foods late at night';
';Drink ginger ale or sprite or eat crackers';
';Rest as much as possible when you can'; which for me seemed like not often.
';Eat small meals more often';
30 weeks pregnant and counting with baby girl and seem like I'm an advice magnet when it comes to people giving me advice (wanted or unwanted)What was the best and worst pregnancy advice you were given?
Worst: Someone actually telling me I shouldn't have an all natural childbirth! Medicated was the way to go!
I did enough research and knew that all natural was the way for me.
Another was the pure cocoa butter-I used it everyday but I still got stretch marks. :(
Best: Take naps as often as you can before the baby arrives, b/c once the baby's here, those naps will become far and in between!
The best: All the horror stories of days of hard labor are lies.
The worst: Raising your hands over your head can strangle the baby with its cord. (Stupidest old wive's tale I'd ever heard.)
the worst thing i think i got was.. oh yeah you can eat anything you want and dont worry about it, after my daughter was born i had a hard time loosing the weight..
the best i think was forget about the labor pains once you see the baby it will all go away and it was soo true
Best answer is pure cocoa butter to prevent stretch marks it worked for me. the worse was everyone telling me their baby delivery horror stories they had me scared to death.
The worst would have to be that it is okay to have red wine while your are pregnant! What? Do I look that stupid?
The best would have to be to relax! After all pregnancy is only the start of the advertures in parenthood!
Worst - Don't eat strawberries, because your baby will be born with strawberry marks.
Best - Don't get stressed out, relax and enjoy being pregnant, the baby will get here eventually!(And then you will be tired from feeding baby every 4 hours and cleaning baby spit up, baby poo, laundry, etc.)
The rewards of baby are endless. Smiles, first times for things, and lots of love.
the best: Every baby and every birth is different.. don't listen to advice it will probably be wrong for you.
worse: Well I listened to the first advice so I didn't listen to the rest :-)
*LOL* So much advice. For me these were my best and worst things I could have been told.

';Jalepenos are going to kill the baby';
';Using your laptop will hurt you and the baby.
Good advice for me
';Do not eat spicy foods or foods late at night';
';Drink ginger ale or sprite or eat crackers';
';Rest as much as possible when you can'; which for me seemed like not often.
';Eat small meals more often';
